Arrival Story:
I, (aka The Food Lady) went out for a walk around my suburban neighborhood one summer night - August 3, 1981, to be exact. As I approached the corner streetlight, a skinny little kitty came running out of the dark bushes to me. He was so friendly & purring like crazy. I stopped to pet him & told him he'd better run along home. (oh yeah like he could understand me!) I continued walking & the kitty followed. I picked him up & knocked on a neighbor's door. She told me that he'd been hanging around her part of the street as a stray for a couple weeks & she knew that another neighbor had been feeding him but they had gone on vacation & left the kitty to fend for himself. :-( Needless to say, the little gray tabby came home with me & was named in honor of the day he found me, Augustus The Third - Gus for short.
