Coloration: Calico
Likes: Catnip, lying on the bench by the pond, hissing at Tigger.
Pet-Peeves: Tigger's little games,dogs,most everything else.
Favorite Toy: Lizards. Cali doesn't play much with toys.
Favorite Nap Spot: On the bench by the pond,on my computer desk,& on HER blue lawn chair.
Favorite Food: Dry cat food(although she allegedly once stole an entire Thanksgiving turkey).
Skills: She can yawn & meow at the same time; can smack Tigger with her paw 3 times before he knows he's been hit,& the" Hiss of Death"!
Dwells:
indoors and outdoors
Arrival Story: Cali was rescued by her original Human after being thrown from an apartment window because they "didn't want her anymore". She stayed in the house when I bought it & now resides with me.
Bio: The photos do absolutely no justice to her eyes. They are Peridot green. I have a couple of Peridots,& they are a perfect match for her eyes. When she hunts lizards, she seldom kills them. She brings them in the house to show her Human,& when she meows at him, they escape into the house! The decibel level of Cali's purr is comparable of that to a small jet plane. Seriously! She's loud! She's very vocal & sometimes forgets to use her "indoor voice". She will yell her "meows" at you.

The 1st 2 selections on the music player on my page are parts of the "Good Eats" episode "Romancing the Bird" (which doesn't seem to be on the Food Network this year! WHAT???).If you click "Video",you should get the video of these episodes, too. This is the only program on the Food Network that we watch,& these 2 episodes contain the parts about Brining your turkey. THIS WORKS! Your turkey will be juicy & succulent, not dry. A few corrections, though. Alton Brown says to put peppercorns in your brine. DON"T DO IT! Dad did this last year,& everywhere a peppercorn touched the turkey,it was very peppery indeed! Use ground pepper,or save the pepper for later. He also says to use a gallon of vegetable broth in your brine. Great if you're rich,or made some broth beforehand. We like to put fresh herbs in the brine(unfortunately, our Marjoram & Sage plants died in the drought of recent months,so we will be relying on good old Bell's Seasoning this year). We're also thinking of adding some Maple flavored syrup to the brine this year! Try brining your turkey! It's worth it!
My friend Mayhem tagged me with this Thanksgiving tag:"List the five things that you're most thankful for this year". 2009 has not been a year that has been filled with things to be thankful for,but here goes: 1: I'm thankful we still have a place to live (paws crossed). A lot of people don't. 2: I'm thankful that Dad still has a job(at 10% less pay) so he can buy us cat food(even if he can't always pay the bills). A lot of people don't. 3: I'm thankful that we have a president who can speak in complete sentences & pronounce the word "nuclear". I just wish he could GET THINGS DONE! 4: I'm thankful that I live in a place where I am treated well,& never mistreated, even if I sometimes do bad things. A lot of cats are forced to live outside & scrounge for food, living in fear. 5: I am thankful we found Catster,& I am thankful for all the friends we've made here,& for all the fun we've had here. Catster has been our refuge from the terrible things that have been happening in the Human world,& we thank all of our friends for making it so. There. These are my 5 things that I am thankful for this year. Maybe I'll make a list of things I am NOT thankful for! Politicians,Be Afraid! BE VERY AFRAID!
Veteran's Day is the day that we honor those who fought & died in America's wars. It is fitting & proper that we do this. I have only one question. Why is this not a National Holiday? Why do Bankers & the Post Office get to take this day off, while most Veterans do not? What does this say about us? Rich man's War,Poor Man's Fight? I'm just sayin',is all. I gotta go & honor our REAL Veterans.
