My diary was "Diary of the Day" yesterday!

I am so happy that my diary was picked as "Diary of the Day" yesterday. Woo Hoo. Yep, I'm a day late in adding the mews to my diary but it's better late than never.MOL I really enjoyed my day in the catster spotlight yesterday! I got special canned food and of course, extra love and lots of treats! YAY! Meowmy was happy when she saw that my diary had been picked!

Meowmy went to post the mews on my facebook page. Yep, I'm a privledged kitty that has a facebook page! MOL Anyway, facebook blocked my page and also my sisfur, Hailey's facebook page. Stupid facebook. Why can't kitties have fb accounts too. Meowmy is thinking about re-creating Hailey and my accounts on there. She isn't in too big of a hurry though because she doesn't want them to ban our pages again. *Harley hisses and sticks tongue out at the people who run facebook*

I'm ornery today!

Meow meow meow!

I have been feeling really good lately. I think it is probably the best I have felt since June. I have been sick off and on since then. I woke meowmy up early because I was running through the bedroom, then downstairs, then back upstairs, etc. I was having fun. Meowmy hollered at me several times but I can't comprehend the words "no" or "Stop it", etc. Those words I just never hear. MOL So meowmy finally decided to get up because she knew I wasn't going to let her sleep. I decided that I was hungry so I started begging for food by going into the big dog crate and sitting there looking at her pittifully with one front paw up in the air like I normally do. So meowmy fed me my canned food, I took a few bites and decided that I wasn't hungry anymore. I started having a cow so meowmy let me out of the crate. That's when I started chasing all my sibfurlings around the house for the next half an hour or maybe even longer. I was smacking them and beating up on all of them. None of them were spared. I smacked them all with my powder puff paw. I mean I think they all have forgotten who is the boss around here. I am the boss and they need to be reminded of this frequently. MOL Meowmy kept hollering at me to stop and to settle down but I ignored her as always when she tells me this. MOL I'm purrty ornery this morning!

I really started something this morning though.My sisfurs, Chloe & Ashleigh were fighting off and on too. Then my rattie sibfurlings were in there cage going "squeek, squeek, sqeeeeeek". Yep, they were fighting too! MOL All of us critterz are driving meowmy crazy this morning but then....that's not a far drive! MOL MOL MOL MOL

But now, I've worn myself out and it's time for a loooong cat nap!!!!

I had to go to the vet AGAIN!!

MEEEOOOWWW!

I had to go to the vet yesterday again. ACK! I hate going to the vet but then I hate not feeling good too. I haven't been eating too much recently. Meowmy even bought me and Hailey some "Market Fresh" wet food and some Whiskas pouch food in our favorite flavors. You think I'd eat any of it? NOPE! Meowmy knew I was hungry but I just wouldn't eat. Normally, I would have eaten that yummy wet food but not this time.

Meowmy took me into the vet yesterday. I went to my new doctor...the one who did my eye surgery. Meowmy is really liking him. Anyway, he checked out my mouth to see if there was something going on in my mouth. He noticed that the corners of my mouth were bright red and swollen. He called it some sort of gingivitis ( meowmy can't remember the whole name for it). Yep, it is called gingivitis and it doesn't have anything to do with my teeth. Strange huh? MOL He told meowmy that it was an auto immune disease and but the good mews is that it can be treated, the bad mews is that is can't be cured. So he gave me two shots to help me feel better. One as an antibiotic shot (it is supposed to last 2 weeks) and also a steroid shot to help reduce the inflammation. I know there are a lot of people who don't agree with the steroid shots but meowmy knows it does wonders for us when we need immediate relief. The doctor did not want to send meowmy home with any antibiotics since it is almost impossible to get that stuff down me whether it's liquid or pills and no matter what it is mixed it. I just wont take it! MOL MOL MOL MOL I have lost some weight but not as much as meowmy thought. I weigh 11.2 pounds and when I went in for my eye surgery I weighed 12 pounds! MOL

My doctor also told meowmy that he got a second report back from the pathologist about my eye. They said that was definately caused by an auto immune disease, probably the same one that is effecting my mouth right now. So meowmy has to keep a real close eye on me.

Today, I've already eaten two bowls of wet food and am already feeling better.

Update on me!

Meow!

It has been almost 3 weeks since my surgery. I have surprised meowmy that I have bounced back so fast. I am a tough meezer and I really healed up fast. I didn't have any complications or anything. I got my stitches out last Monday (Sept. 13) and the doctor says that it looked great. My fur hasn't grown back in by my eye yet so I still look a little funny! MOL MOL

It took my biopsy report quite a while to come back in because they sent it out to a special pathology lab. Meowmy talked to my doctor on Friday (Sept. 17) and the good mews is that it wasn't cancer!!! YIPPEE! He did say that it was a major infection which we knew but he said that it could have been an auto immune disease. So he told meowmy to keep an eye on my good eye to prevent this from happening to it.

Thank you all for all the purrz, love, get well wishes, presents and all the support!!! It means so much to me! I am going to have to get meowmy to post some pictures of me on her. All I need is a pirate patch and I will be good! MOL MOL MOL Meowmy just needs to find one! MOL

Day after surgery...

Meow meow meow!

Well, it's been a little more than 24 hours after my surgery. I am acting pretty good considering what I have been through. I am a strong meezer though. My appetite is good too. I am being very loveable and being real good and leaving the stitches alone. Meowmy does have me isolated away from the other kitties in a big wire dog crate so that I won't hurt myself if I decide to play or actually beat on the other cats. I like to beat on them. MOL MOL MOL MOL So I am resting comfortably in the dog crate. Hey, I have my own litter box, food bowl, water bowl & bed in there. Told ya it is a big crate. I'm happy in there as long as there is food in there! MOL MOL

I did scare meowmy earlier when she came home. MOL I had an itch and was scratching my eye with my hind foot. She said if it would have been her that just had eye surgery that she would be screaming after doing that! What a wimp! MOL It didn't bother me at all. The side of my face is pretty swollen but that should go down soon. Meowmy hasn't heard from the vet yet about the biopsy on my eye but that may take a few days. Hopefully, it will be good mews!!!

News about my surgery!

Meow!

I came through my surgery just fine. I am home! The doctor said that I had lots of puss around my eye but didn't see any tumors. They are going to biopsy the eye to see if there is any cancer in the eye. If there is, then I will need to go through chemo treatments. We are hoping that this is not the case. Meowmy just felt better to have this biopsy done. My eye socket is all stitched closed and I will have to go back in two weeks to have the stitches removed. They placed a silicone ball in the eye socket to prevent the socket from getting sunken in. The doctor gave me two shots. One was a long lasting antibiotic shot that will last 2 weeks and then another was a pain killer medicine that will last about 4 days. The whole side of my face is swollen but that is to be expected.

I was glad to see meowmy when she picked me up this afternoon. She was suprized that I was sent home today because they said that I may not be coming home tonight. It just depended on how I did with the surgery. Yippee....I am glad to be home. When I got home, I bet I took an hour long bath. EWWWW...yuck! I smelled like the vets office and to a cat that just plain stinks! There are so many smells at the vets office that humans just cannot smell. I was happy to get home, to my warm bed that smelled like me & some yummy canned food. We are all hoping for a speedy recovery & hope this makes me feel so much better. I look kind of pittiful right now though. I think I need to start practicing my pirate talk though. AAAARRRGGGGHH! MOL MOL MOL I should go and buy a pirate eye patch too! Today is my surgery...

Meow! Meowmy doesn't think that I have been feeling too good the past few days. My eye has gotten even worse. It is all goopy & almost swollen shut. Meowmy has tried the best she could to save my eye. But today I have lost the battle with my eye. I have to have it removed. My eye just wouldn't respond to the antibiotics. It been almost a month & a half and it just keeps getting worse. Meowmy had no other option since she doesn't want me to suffer with this anymore. I am at the vet as I write this. I am going to have pre-surgery x-rays to determine if there is any tumors/cancer in the area around/ behind the eye. Meowmy is a nervous wreck this morning and she is hoping for good mews.
When meowmy took me in this morning, they said that I would probably be staying overnight. Please keep me in your purrayers, purrz & thoughts today. As much as I don't want to lose my eye, I want to start feeling better again and be out of pain.

I do know that I have one special Guardian Angel watching over me today. I saw him and he is here with me now. I was very happy to see him. It is my PawPaw Rex! I used to be his kitty before he went to Heaven in 2003. PawPaw Rex is my meomwy's dad. Please keep me in your thoughts, purrayers etc. I need all that I can get!

Update on me & my eye....

Meeeeeooow!

I'm several days behind in updating my diary but my meowmy has had a lot going on this week so she is just getting around to typing this for me now. My eye has not been improving much. Meowmy thought it was getting better since my eye was open more but she was wrong. Here's what has been going on here. This might be a long diary entry but please read it.......

Tuesday, Aug.24:
Meowmy took me to the vet for another recheck on my eye. He said that my eye was not any better. He checked it out real good. Meowmy asked him if it would benefit me at all to have some medicine injected around my eye that possible could help with the inflamation. He told her that there wasn't and my eye is pretty much dead. It has shrunk in size a little and he told meowmy that the eye needed to come out. Meowmy decided to get a 2nd opinion just to be sure since this is a big procedure to remove an eye.

Wednesday, Aug. 25:
Meowmy had to take my guinea pig brother, Hurley, back to the vet and found out he has pneumonia again. She was getting ready to take me in along with Hurley to a different vet for a 2nd opinion. MOL MOL Meowmy had me in the carrier and had just put me in the car. I let go a big bubbly noise. HEE HEE HEE. That will teach meowmy.....it was runny poopy. I've had runny poopy for several days this week. Needless to say, I didn't go to the vet cause meowmy didn't have time to clean me up.

Thurs, Aug. 26:
My rattie sisfur, Sienna, got really sick during the night and was having a hard time breathing. Meowmy took her into the vet and dang it anyway....she took me too. So meowmy got a 2nd opinion. The doctor looked at my eye and said it was a lot worse than he thought it would be. He pretty much said the same thing that my regular vet had said. My eye needs to be removed. Dr. Bingham said that my eye had shrunk which we already knew but he said that if my eye wasn't removed that my eye would always be irritated & painful and I would never be able to see out of the eye again. He told meowmy that I could possibly have a tumor behind my eye and it could be cancer. He told meowmy that he will x-ray the eye area prior to surgery to make sure there is no cancer in the bone / area around my eye. He said there is a possibility that there is and he said at that point it wouldn't be worth having the surgery.The reason for that is because when there is cancer from something like this that it is very aggressive and I would probably only have 6 months max to live. Meowmy doesn't like that news but she doesn't want me to have cancer either. He did say that he will place a silicon ball into the eye socket so that it won't heal and be a sunken area like it happens so many times with this type of surgery. He said this is completely safe and will look like I have an eyeball in there only it will be sewed up. Meowmy has mixed feeling about this but this is what it has come down to and she wants me to be healthy. My x-ray/surgery is scheduled for early Wednesday (Sept. 1)morning. I am going to be going to the doctor who gave meowmy a 2nd opinion. She says she is thinking about going to him instead of our regular vet. He really knows his stuff and has helped the small animals (guinea pigs, ratties, etc) in our furramily.

As of this morning, my rattie sisfur, Sienna, is still in the vet. hospital and is starting to improve. My guinea pig brofur, Hurley, is hanging in there and is on two different meds. Meowmy has had a rough week with us critterz again. This has been going on for about 6 weeks now. Hopefully we all can get well and stay that way.

I wish my eye was better.....

Meow, meow!

I am just letting you all know that my eye still isn't healing fast. We sure are hoping that it will. Meowmy has noticed that my eye is open more but the swelling in the tissue around the eye just is not going down. Meowmy thinks this new meds is working a tiny, tiny bit but not like meowmy would like it too!

Meowmy is thinking about calling the vet on Monday to see if maybe there is some medication that they might be able to inject near my eye. This totally sounds crazy to you all and painful but my sisfur (my littermate), Emily, has had bad eyes since she was a kitten. She had had to have numerous eye surgeries because her eyelashes were growing inward and causing all kinds of problems. Well, occasionally her eye would swell a little and turn cloudy. Meowmy thought that after the surgeries, eye medication, different vets including an eye specialist that she was just going to have to accept the way Emily's eyes looked. She ended up taking Emily to a new vet and while Emily was having a tooth pulled, the vet injected some medication near her eyes and what do you know? Her eyes cleared up....no more eye goo and no more cloudiness!!! It is 4 years later and one of Emily's eyes are JUST now showing signs of this again. She went 4 years without any problems so meowmy knows she needs to have this done again. BUT.....meowmy wonders if I would benefit from this as well???? HMMMMMMM.....she thinks it is worth asking the vet about. Wouldn't that be great if that procedure would help me out and I would get to have a normal eye again? Meowmy is going to find out and also she is going to get 2nd, 3rd maybe even 4th opinions on my eye from other vets in town. It sure doesn't hurt at all. Meowmy does trust my doctor but she feels this would be a major procedure to have my eye removed like they are talking about....that is if it turns out that way.
