Update on me!

Meow!

It's been a week or so since my last diary entry and I thought that I would update it. I was in the hospital two weeks ago in the emergency & regular vet hospital overnight. I slowly improved over the next week and seemed to be doing good. Last Monday, February 14, I started stumbling again and was having trouble even jumping up on the bed since I don't have any claws. It wasn't as bad as the day I went into the emergency vet a week earlier. Meowmy kept a close eye on me and I got better.On Thursday afternoon (February 17) I stopped eating again and was vomiting up bile because I didn't have anything in my tummy. I wasn't active at all and all I did was lay in the bathroom and sleep. Meowmy was worried that I was going to relapse like I had a few days earlier but I didn't. Friday afternoon, meowmy took me to the vet for a steroid shot because I wasn't eating and my gums were bothering me. My doctor says that he wants to pull all my top teeth to help me with this but he says that I am not healthy enough for it right now and doesn't want me to go through that in case the stress from the surgery might cause more problems. I am pretty fragile. He prescribed the potassium supplement for me, got some A& D canned food and we went home.

When we got home, I refused to eat even the canned food. I wouldn't eat at all on Saturday. Meowmy tried to give me the potassium and I wouldn't cooperate. She decided to give me some dry food thinking that maybe I would eat it but doubted it because of my gums. I nibbled at it and let the canned food again. Meowmy could tell that I wasn't feeling too good too.

Sunday (yesterday) My dad noticed that their was evidence of me having a seizure on the tile floor in the bathroom. Meowmy kept me in the bathroom overnight to monitor my food and water intake. She got the floor cleaned up and I definitely had had one because my tail was all wet and so were my front paws from me losing control of my bladder and drooling during the seizure. Meowmy kept a close eye on me all day and she checked on me often and no more signs of the seizure monster until she noticed at around 9pm that my tail was wet again. Seizure monster must have visited again. She gave me a bath which I wasn't fond of because she said I was stinky from the monster. She put me back in the bathroom and let me out a little while later. About midnight, I was sleeping with my daddy and the monster struck again.I lost control again of my bladder and meowmy had to completely change the bed including the mattress pad. I'm really glad meowmy has a waterproof mattress pad on the bed. She put one of those on the bed because I have had many seizures on the bed and would have ruin the mattress by now. So meowmy protects it because of me. So I had two possibly three seizures yesterday. I am eating the dry food right now so that is good. I am really tired today. I just want to start feeling better again. Enough is enough is what meowmy keeps telling me.She says that I need a break from being sick for a while. I haven't been well for long my whole life but meowmy always makes sure that I get the medical care I need no matter what it costs. She's spend several hundred dollars on me in the past three weeks. She says that I'm worth it. Please purr and purray that I get to feeling better and stay that way. I was so much hoping that with my seizure medication being increased that I wouldn't have anymore seizures but I guess I am still going to have them.

Yay! I'm feeling better!

Meow!

I'm feeling a lot better! I got to come home from the hospital this afternoon. My doctor figured out what was wrong with me. I had a dangerously low potassium level. This happened because I wasn't eating and is what made me so sick. He gave me fluids with potassium and B complex in my I.V. I really improved over night and while I was still at the vet, I ate a whole can of food. My doctor gave me some special canned food for me to eat. I still have the diaherra and my doctor thinks it should go away but if it doesn't then he will give me something for it. He doesn't want to yet because it can interfer with my phenobarb and I don't need to have a seizure on top of all of this. My doctor is prescribing me a potassium supplement that meowmy will have to pick up tomorrow. He had to order it and it will be in tomorrow.

I am not real active right now but I am happy to be home. Meowmy gave me some of the canned food I got from the doctor and she gave me about 1/4 of the can and I ate most of it tonight! So meowmy is hoping that I continue to get better and stay that way.

I'm in the hospital!

MEEEOOOWWW!

I have not been feeling good at all the past few days. I have been having some problems with my gums being inflamed. Meowmy got some medicine for me at the vet last week. I started picking at my food but was still eating until Friday. I stopped eating completely on Friday and stopped drinking too.The medicine gave me diarrhea. Meowmy tried to give me fluids through a syringe to keep me from being dehydrated. She tried to force feed me some food but I wouldn't have anything to do with it. I barely let her give me water. I started going down hill on Sunday (Yesterday) and was having trouble walking and standing up. I kept stumbling and falling over. Meowmy called my doctor Sunday night and he told her to give me some Gatorade to help bring my sugar level up since he thought it might be hypoglycemia from me not eating. She managed to get several syringes full down me. About 1:30 this morning, meowmy checked on me and gave me some more Gatorade. She noticed that my eyes weren't tracking like they should and after she gave me the liquid. I fell over on my side and never even tried to get up. I stayed there for a few minutes. It was then meowmy decided that I needed to see a doctor. So we headed out to the emergency vet. I was extremely lethargic and my breathing was very shallow.

While at the emergency vet, they took blood, a urine sample, took my blood pressure and gave me fluids.My blood work was normal other than signs of dehydration. My urinalysis was normal. My blood pressure was normal. The vet checked my eyes out and my pupils would not respond to light and the had been dilated all day.My body temperature was very low and they gave me hot water bottles to keep me warm. I was shivering from being so cold. My heart rate is also elevated. They gave me medicine to help stop the diarrhea but it didn't work. I might just have a serious infection and hopefully that can be treated with antibiotics if that is what is going on. The fluids seemed to help me a little and I meowed all the way to my regular vets office.

I got there and he looked over the blood test results. He hospitalized me. As of this evening after the vet's office closed, I hadn't improved at all and was still very lethargic. The vets aren't sure what is going on with me and I'm a very sick kitty. They are trying to force feed me some highly nutritious food in hopes that I will start eating again. Keep your paws crossed!

My meowmy is very worried about me and hopes I feel better soon. I hope I feel better soon too. I'm just so sick. Please purr and say purrayers for me to get better and for the doctors to figure out what is going on with me too.

I'm feeling better!

Meow, Meow Meow!

It took me a few days for the anti-biotic with the predisone to kick in and help me. It was about Tuesday night when I started eating a little more. By Wednesday morning, I was eating up a storm! MOL Oh the food tasted so good! MOL

On Monday, my doctor called to check up on me to see if I was doing any better. I still wasn't eating much so he told meowmy to wait another day to see if the meds would kick in and if not then for her to take me back into the vet on Wednesday. Well, I started eating the night before. *giggles* It sure was pawsome for my doctor to call and check on me. Meowmy thought that was great. She really likes my new doctor and so do I!

So I have been feeling really good finally. I've been eating and eating and eating! MOL I've even been eating dry food which I have not eaten in months. So that is pawsome. Meowmy says the past few days, she has just been seeing my back end because my head has been in the food bowl! MOL Meowmy even thinks I am putting on some weight again which I needed to do because I had lost some. So, I think it is time to go bug meowmy for my food before I go night night!

Happy birthday to me!

MEEOOOWW!

Today is going to be a pawsome day! *giggles* Today is my birthday and I share it with 3 other kitties that are very dear to my heart. Annie & Chloe are my sisfurs and Jingle Bell is my BFF & sisfur in law! Happy birthday Chloe, Annie & Jingle Bell! *giggles*

I do hope today is a better one than yesterday. I'm still not feeling the greatest. I'm still not eating like I should be. I hate taking that nasty & icky medication that the vet gave meowmy. I fight meowmy but meowmy wraps me up in a towel and holds me between her knees to give me the meds. The minute she puts the medicine in my mouth, I drool all over the place. Meowmy is managing to get the medicine into me but I just drool saliva all over the place. Last night,meowmy said that I was the goofiest cat because she gave me my medicine and I drooled all over her and my towel but even several minutes after she put me down I had big long drool strings and spit bubbles coming out then I shake my head and they go flying. Meowmy just loves to clean that up! MOL

Anyway, I did eat a little last night and meowmy says it wasn't even enough to keep a birdie alive but MEEEOOOWWW...it's a start right? MOL I haven't eaten yet this morning but meowmy is keeping her fingers crossed that I eat better today. If not, then it's back to the doctor for me. MEEEOOOWW! So here in a little bit, I get to get wrapped up in a towel and given my meds both my phenobarb & my antibiotic for this morning. I'll be sure and soak meowmy real good with slobbers and fling the big long ones all over the bathroom! *giggles*

Anyway, I just hope today is a better day after all...I should feel better since it is my birthday! *giggles*

I went to the vet this morning!

Meow!

I did eat a little bit of food last night. It was about a 1/3 of a can of fancy feast is all. I did get my pill last night. Anyway, meowmy fed me before bed and when she went to pick me up to put me in the bathroom to eat, she noticed that my tummy was big and it seemed like I weighed about 10 pounds. Meowmy knew that I couldn't have gained 5 pounds in less than a week because I have not been eating much and besides that a lot of weight to gain in that time! MOL Meowmy was a little worried about it but went ahead and put me in the bathroom to eat anyway.

This morning meowmy checked me and I had gone to the litter box twice with a turdie in the box as well as a big pee spot in my litter. She picked me up and my tummy wasn't as big as it was so meowmy was thinking I just had to go potty but just wasn't sure. Meowmy fed me my breakfast and I refused to eat. Since the vet closes at noon today, she called the vet and got to talk to my doctor right away and he told her to bring me in. My daddy & my human brofur, Joey, actually took me to the vet instead. They actually got a BIG surprize when they took me in. One of the technician handed my daddy a consent form to euthanize me. OMC...can you believe that? My doctor told her that he never authorized that and she apologised...it was for another critter that was coming into the vet. Poor critter. My meowmy freaked out and said that was a little drastic for me when I was just not eating! *giggles* It's all good. The technician just goofed and it didn't go any farther than that.

Dr. Bingham checked me out and said that I was okay but he thought that the steroid shot that I got on Monday wore off to fast and that can happen sometimes. He said that meowmy must have felt my bladder being really full last night because my tummy was normal size. Meowmy said it was purrty big though but I am okay! Dr. Bingham gave me an anti-biotic with some prednesone in it. I have to take it twice a day and he said that I probably won't feel better until tomorrow. My doctor says he really like me! *giggles & blushes*

My doctor called my meowmy later and left a message to tell her meowmy what was going on since she wasn't there with me. He also told meowmy that if she has any questions or any problems with me this weekend to call the office and page him or call him at home. MeWoW! Meowmy says she likes that because most of the vets around here refer you to the emergency vet and you cannot get ahold of your regular vet after hours or on weekends. Meowmy really likes our new vet!

So please keep me in your thoughts and purrayers that I get to feeling better and start eating again!! Sorry this is so long! *giggles*

I'm still not myself!

MEEEOOOW! MEEEEOOOW!

It's been two days since I came home from spending the night at the vet. I ate purrty good the first day home and yesterday I started slacking off again. Today, I've only eaten a few bites of food. Meowmy even went to Petsmart today to buy me some more of my favorite fancy feast food. She took away my food from earlier because I wouldn't eat it and replaced it with some fresh fancy feast fish dinner. I normally would go bonkers with it. Meowmy put it down in front of me and I sniffed it and took a small lick then walked away. I just don't feel like eating. So I guess this means that I am going to have to go back to the vet AGAIN. Meowmy says that the vet is open effury other Saturday and tomorrow happens to be the day that they are open. Meowmy is going to call them in the morning and see if they can get me in. *Sigh* I don't not want to go back to the vet again. But meowmy is concerned that since I am not eating that my blood sugar level could go too low and trigger another visit from the seizure monster. We don't want that to happen. Please purr hard for me and hope I get better and start eating again. I cannot afford to lose much more weight especially since I weighed 5.2 pounds a couple days ago when I was at the vet!

I'm home!

MEEOOWW!

I am such a happy meezer! *giggles* I'm home again after being at the vet overnight! YAY! My doctor gave me fluids, a steroid shot, an antibiotic shot and did a CBC blood test. My blood tests were good and no bad mews! I am feeling better and am eating again. I ate a whole bowl of food which is about a half a can of canned food when I got home! YUMMY! My doctor said it was my gums that were inflamed and those steroid shots really work too. I don't get them very often but they sure are a relief when I need them!

My doctor did say that when I had my visit from the seizure monster the other day that the walking in circles is not a normal thing but if it happens again to let him know as soon as possible. I have never done that before but have acted like I was blind twice before and that is normal post-seizure activity. Dr. Bingham also said that he isn't going to change my phenobarb dose right now especially since he just changed it about 2 weeks ago and my body needs to get used to it. Hopefully this will work for me since it hasn't been enough time for the extra dosage to work. Keeping my little paws crossed! *giggles*

Oh...one more thing....I have a spot on both of my front legs that they shaved off some of my fur to put the i.v. in! I just have a little bandage on my right one! *giggles* I'm so glad that I'm feeling better! Thank you effuryone for all the purrz, purrayers, love and support for me and my furramily!

Spending the night at the vet

Meowmy took me to the vet today because I have not been eating and I had that seizure yesterday afternoon. He checked me out purrty good. I don't have a fever but I've lost some weight. I am dehydrated and going to have a lot of blood work done. I will be getting anti-biotics and a steroid shot to help reduce the imflammed gums. He is going to be running tests to check my liver & kidneys, etc. I haven't been myself for a while. My doctor decided to keep me overnight for observation & tests, etc. I'm not happy but I do want to feel better. He is also going to be figuring out the exact dosage on my phenobarb. About 2 weeks ago, I had the phenobarb test and he increased my phenobarb to 3/4 of a pill a day. You see, the pills that meowmy has is a 32 mg. pill that would last me 2 days (a half a pill a day). Well since he increased it, he is thinking about giving meowmy the smaller dosage pill of 16 mg. This might be a little easier to give me and be a more accurate dose for me. My doctor really hasn't decided what route he is going to go for the phenobarb for sure...pill or liquid. Well, I do hope we can get this worked out for me and I will be feeling better. So for tonight, I am spending the night at the vet hospital. Hopefully I will be able to go home tomorrow but that depends on what the tests results say and how I am doing. Dang seizure monster!!!!!

MEEOOOW!

I haven't been feeling too good lately and I haven't been eating much either. Meowmy is planning on taking me into the vet tomorrow to see what is going on. Meowmy is purrty sure that it is my gums acting up again and I will probably get some more anti-biotics and a steroid shot. I don't get those steroid shots very often but they sure do work. Meowmy also thinks that I have lost some weight.

This afternoon the seizure monster struck again. Meowmy didn't even know that I had the seizure since she was downstairs when it happened. The only was she noticed was because she saw me walking in complete circles. I could not walk in a straight line. Meowmy grabbed me thinking I was about to have a seizure and took me downstairs with her. She didn't know that I had already had one until she set me down on the floor downstairs to see if I could walk any better. Nope, I was walking counter clockwise in a small circle. It was then when meowmy noticed that my front legs were all wet and the base of my tail too. My brofur, Joey, watched me while meowmy went upstairs to see if she could find any spots of pee anywhere since I lose control when I have visits. Yep, she found one in the middle of her bedroom. Meowmy was purrty worried about me since it took me about a half an hour...maybe longer to stop walking in circles. I have never done this before after a seizure. Meowmy is definately going to mention this to the doctor when she takes me in tomorrow. *sigh* I hate the ugly, mean and nasty seizure monster. *hisses at the seizure monster*

I am better now but very tired. I ate some food after the visit but not a whole lot. I just don't feel like eating. Meowmy has really tried almost anything for me to eat...but nope, I won't eat. So first thing tomorrow morning, meowmy is going to be making me a vet visit. Please purr hard for me.
