indoors Arrival Story: We started feeding a stray cat last Thanksgiving and provided a shelter for him out on the front porch to stay out of the cold. He would always run away whenever we opened the front door. About a month ago he let my wife pet him and afterwards he was OK with the both of us.---------------
He had a collar and an ID from the Virginia Beach SPCA. They are located over three hundred miles south of were we live. I called them and asked if they would be able to call the owner and try to reunite them. Several days later they called back and gave us his history.
He was lived his first year of life with a couple until they had their first child and he was then sent off to the Virginia Beach SPCA. Jasper's original name was "Guiness". -------- He was adopted by his second family who renamed him 'Kitty'. This family was in the military and was transferred up north to our area. 'Kitty' escaped from their home last fall and they thought he was dead.----------
In the meantime this family moved into an apartment which does not allow pets so they could not take him back. --------------- His paperwork noted his birthday is May 7th. He celebrated his third birthday with us :-) Bio: We discussed the matter and decided to give Jasper a chance. He was sequestered in the basement for a week while waiting for his vet appointment. In the meantime, the Virginia Beach SPCA mailed us his medical records. We took him to our vets and Jasper was given a clean bill of health and had his vaccines brought up to date. -------------- We moved Jasper into the spare bedroom for a day and gradually introduced him to the rest of the family. He was accepted into the tribe after a few hisses from everyone. Jasper has the run of our home and is doing well. He's a great 'Buddy Boy'. UPDATE -- July 23, 2009 -- Jasper is doing very well and gets along well with all of his siblings and had become quite chatty - especially in the early morning :-) Lives Remaining: 9 of 9 The Groups I'm In: Cats that Act Like Dogs, Royal CaninĀ® Felines, The FURminatorĀ® Group For Cats, Young Furts!
