Maybe you have read about Julie in California having to give up 6 of her kitties when she was forced to move when the apartment she was renting had been foreclosed at no fault of her own. In finally finding a new apartment within her budget, she could only keep 4 of her 10 kitties. This would be a heart break; we could not even bear to give up one kitty; how lonesome and empty she must feel.
Julie had taken very good care of her 10 cats, and now has only 4 (in the end she has kept the 3 with the most serious disabilities plus the oldest cat which would be hard to adopt out) (she was licensed to have all 10 cats too, and received unannounced inspections, which she always passed).
Julie is disabled and on a very fixed income and the search for a new apartment, and giving up her LOVED pets at the fault of her dishonest landlord, has been a horrible experience. She always fed them the good brands of cat food while she would eat cheap food herself when necessary. This whole experience has been very scary and uncertain for Julie. On top of finding a new place for herself and finding homes for her 6 kitties, and now packing up her apartment, Julie is helping care for her mother too (taking her to the doctor, etc.). She is such a good person. We cannot imagine having to go through being forced to give away our loved kitties who actually make our home the “home” it is.
I do not want her to feel alone in this tragedy and I thought of something easy for you all to do, which will let Julie know that a lot of us care about her. If your Mom or Dad will pawmail me their name, or just their first name if they wish, plus at least one of your kitty’s Catster I.D. numbers so we can find you on Catster, we will buy a card, preferably a nice Big Card, and write all your names in it and all your kitty names that are in your family, and we’ll mail it to Julie.
It will be a “Happy Spring” type of a card. Now, Julie is still in her old apartment and she moves on April 6. After that date we will buy her a Welcome To Your New Home type of card, and write all your names in it again, and send it too. Just pawmail to me some time before March 22, as we live in Canada and when we send a card to the USA it takes up to 9 days or less. I would like her to get this Happy Spring card before she moves on April 6.
Or if you'd like to send your own card, even a little card, pawmail me for my address and you can mail the card to me & I'll forward it to Julie.
One of her disability kitties Julie kept, and you likely fell in love with him when he was Cat of the Day, is Tiny Dancer, who is at:
http://www.catster.com/cats/1192923
From his page you will see Julie’s other 9 kitties she once had (How sad! She had to give away 6 of them in the last 2 or 3 weeks!). Of these kitties, besides keeping Tiny Dancer, she kept the oldest one, Fuzz, and the other 2 with the most serious disabilities being Squint and Autumn.
Julie right now is unable to even look at their Catster pages because of the memories they bring back. I hope one day she’ll be able to give them a look again, but I would imagine that will be quite some time in the future. Right now this truly devastates her.
Graciela is now safely at a no-kill shelter called “Befriended Felines”. They will provide medication and sanctuary for Graciela for life.
The remaining 5 kitties were taken to the lovely Woods Humane Society, a no-kill shelter, where Julie was once a volunteer.
It appears that Marilia and Chief Red Cloud were quickly adopted as they’re not listed for adoption (we saw Chief Red Cloud pictured there Friday but he’s not now. Of course, being as cute as he is, I can understand him quickly being adopted).
Chief Joseph, a Siamese, was adopted right before Julie’s eyes, at the time she was bringing in a couple of her kitties; an older woman adopted him. So now, on the Woods Humane Society site, the only 2 kitties left are Jules-Verne and Beijo who are both listed (without pictures) under ‘Adopt A Pet’. Once you are on the page for all animals, use the pull-down menu and choose “Show Cats” and then only the kitties for adoption will be listed:

Every little dollar is well-used. A dollar can buy 1 or 2 cans of food; so necessary! Even here at the Woods Humane Society website you will see a donation button. They accept any donation, large or small, it does NOT matter how much; not at all.
What is also appealing is you can donate in HONOR of Julie’s cats’ names, Beijo or Jules-Verne. I know my Dad will donate; for this humane society to ease up some of Julie’s great pain, they deserve rewards.
Even though she could not really afford it, Julie made donations to this humane society with each cat they accepted. What has happened to her in the last few weeks, and to her kitties, is just so distressing.
Catster kitty Art Blakey kept us up to date in his diary; and I’ve thankfully got lots of this information from his diary, and have been speaking by pawmail with his Mom. If you’d like to read more on how this all happened to Julie, little one year old Art (“Artie”), who is a 3 legger, is at:
http://www.catster.com/cats/1186381
We just don’t want Julie feeling any more lonely than she will be now and always. We could not do this letting go of one of our pets; I know this has been agony for her! Because of her landlord, she has to have become a hero to endure all of this.
Again, we don’t mind at all if you pawmail us your names and we’ll write them all in these cards for her. And I know any small donation to Woods Humane would be put to great use; they are blessfully a no-kill shelter. If you’d like to help Julie more than this, just pawmail to us or to Art Blakey’s Mom and let us know.
Thank You All And May You Find Good Luck For St. Patrick’s Day!
Love, Ginger xo
Leave A Comment | 6 people already have Mom went to check out all of Julie's pages. OMC! Did you read her page for her doggie Beau...so sad. Mom teared up. It seems like she has had a hard hard life with so many disappointments but she always had her babies.
We also checked out Art's page. he looks so much like River. Another doppelganger!
Mom will definitely be contacting your Mom. Hope the card will help add a little happiness to her life. Thank you Zoe, I just went to read about Julie's dog Beau. That is so sad; and also Julie writes in there she had been abused too. Poor kid. Please do contact us so we can add your names to the card.
Thanks Jezebel sweetie, we got your pawmail and will add you to the cards too! These cards should help brighten Julie's day.
