I want a cricket and Mommy won't let me have one!

The other day, I found a cricket. It crawled its way under my screen door somehow. I ran and jumped with it. It was so mucch fun! Then Mommy saw it and she killed it! I couldn't believe it! She gives me everything I want but not a cricket.

Yesterday I found another one. It was halfway under the door. My granddad held me while Mommy went and got that already dead and stuck in the door cricket and kicked it outside. I squirmed away from granddad in the process. Poor granddad got scratched but I didn't mean it. He forgave me and still let me sit in his lap.

Today I waited and waited. No cricket. No even a dead one. I guess Mommy scared them off. I really really really hope I find another one.

Play it again!

I was featured in diary central again today! Who would have ever thought anyone would want to read my innermost thoughts? I haven't even had much to say lately. It's been quiet this week, thank goodness.

I am excited though because my mommy is on vacation this week. That means me and Tiny can spend more time with her. She was out all day today though. What do people do all day outside? She doesn't even bring us back a bird! She does come back some days with a big bag of Fancy Feast, and today was one of those days!

Oh , wow! I'm a DDP today!

Thanks, HQ! Mommy just found out. She was very busy this weekend. One of her best friends lost her husband, and everyone was sad. It was a very hard time. Of course, I did my best to cheer her up by.giving hugs and kisses.

I have been getting a lot of rest lately. It's been so hot, the birds and the squirrels and the birds have been keeping a low profile. Me and Tiny are looking forward to cooler weather.

I love to hide!

There is a picture Mommy added of me of my favorite hiding spots. I'm sure no one can see me!

The cats next door

My mommy has been feedng the cats next door while their people are on vacation. That' what I hear, anyway. All I know is hat she comes home stinking like strange cats. Then she tells me how she played with this one neighbor cat named Oreo while she was there. Me and Tiny decided we wouldn't let her see how much it bothered us. I guess those cats have to eat too though. And I guess I would want someone to play with me, too. And I hear this Oreo is fatter than me and needs the excercize.

Yesterday I was at the window looking outside, and I saw a neighbor cat outside in a big cage. My Grandmom was talking to the neighbor cat's person, who said that the cat and the dog had fleas and she had given them flea treatment. The person didn't want to take her cat to the vet for a flea dip, and when Grandmom suggested she get a flea comb to use after the treatment, the person said "Do you know what that costs?" Imagine, someone not wanting to buy a flea comb because it cost too much! Not someone who doesn't have six dollars, but someone who doesn't love their cat enough to spend six dollars!

The worst is though, the person wants to get rid of her cat because they have a dog now and they say the cat stays in the basement all the time. I know Mommy said she watched their cat once when they were on vacation, and the cat was down the basement and there was no dog! The neighbor cat is older, and they are okay with just giving her away like she was a shoe that didn't fit! Would she give away one of her kids? Mommy can't take in another cat right now. Someone will take her, and I sure hope that whoever does will appreciate how special she is!

Some people really don't deserve to have any cats! Or dogs either! Shame on them!

It's my anniversary!

Four years ago today, I was found. It was about 4 pm. Mommy saw a young cat outside. That cat was my cat mommy. A few months before, people in the house fown the street were evicted and left all their cats behind. My mommy must have been one of them. Anyway. Mommy followed her and saw that she went in the abandoned yard. Mommy took her food. Then she saw there were kittens! It was me and my four siblings. We were very little, and so scared! My cat mommy wasn't friendly, but she was hungry, so she ate the food and was able to feed us then.

I was too small really to know what was going on. I only know that we went to live in the yard next to Mommy's yard. My cat mommy still had to feed us. No one wanted us to leave the yard because something BAD would happen to us. I have to say, I had a marvelous kittenhood those first few months. We were safe, we had plenty to ear, and lots of time to play. It took a long time for me to trust people, but I am so glad I finally did.

There's more to my story, but right now I'm too tired to tell it. I'm taking a nap in Mommy's lap right now. What a great was to start off my special day.

There's wildlife in my backyard!

I have been sooooo busy lately. There are critters in my backyard! I have been in one window or another, not to mention thhe bamck door, for weeks. In the morning, there's the birds. Plus squirrels. They eat, they play with each other, they fly. Sometimes they take a bath. Then at night, there's fireflies. And possums! I go to sleep at night when my eyes can't stay open anymore. My mommy is getting jealous of my attention being compromised, but I just can't help myself.

Little summer birds
Flutter past my windowsill
How they enchant me

Not to be conceited, but...

I am really cute! There's no denying it. Okay, I'm not a special fancy expensive kind of cat, but does that take away from me? No! Just look at my eyes! My stripes highlight them so nicely.

Tiny is handsome, too. His fur is longer than mine. Tiny used to be a LOT fatter than me. He is gaining weight and getting back into shape.
