I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and Gotcha Day today. I spent the day helping put up some Christmas decorations. There were all kinds of things coming out of storage. Lots of sparkly things! Things with bells! THINGS!!!!! I couldn't even nap, I was so excited! Tiny went to sleep though. Can you believe it??? I don't know how he could want to miss out on all the excitement. But just when my day couldn't get any better, out comes the vacuum! I had to hide for a while, but not too long. I'm a big boy now and I had to show Mommy how brave I am. Oh, and I got tons of treats and kisses. All in all, a fabulous day.

Giving Thanks

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. It's my fourth gotcha day coming up. I almost didn't get to my first gotcha day. When I lived outside with my catmommy and siblings, the man who lives down the street, who used to be Mommy's friend, caught me in a trap and took me someplace scary! Then the next thing I knew, I was back in the trap, and getting into another car, with the nice lady who used to feed us and her husband. Then I was with my Mommy! Then I was in another car! Then a strange man looked in my eyes and ears and listened to my heart! Mommy tried to tell him I was six months old, but that man said no, I was younger, and he couldn't "fix" me yet! WHAT WAS GOING ON??? Then all of a sudden, I was back in the car, and then I was in another strange place, only this time Mommy was there! Oh, how I hid! I hid for days, it seemed! I only came out when Mommy was close by.

Eventually, I calmed down. Little by little, I put together the pieces of what happened to me. The man down the street had me in a trap, and instead of taking me to the PetSmarts or to any one of the other places everyone talked about, he took me to the Bensalem Women's Humane Society! I wasn't supposed to go anywhere to begin with, but this is what happened. The lady who used to feed me found out and was furious. She made her husband take her to pick me up from there. When they called on the phone, the lady who answered the phone told her they had to hurry up, because it was almost closing time. If they didn't get there, it would be too late. The next morning I was going to be...be...OMC I can't even think of it!!!! All this happened while Mommy was at work. She came home, and there I was in the cage. Mommy took me to the vet, and the rest is history.

It was such a traumatic gotcha day. But this year I found out a really sad story involving the same neighbors who took me to that bad place.

There was a little furbaby who used to live in the neighborhood. Her name was Patches. Patches was a beautiful girl. Sometimes she came to my deck to visit with me and Tiny. But Patches loved our neighbor and used to stay on their front step in a shelter when the weather got cold. They would feed her and make sure she had water.

A few weeks ago, the neighbors made Patches come to live inside. We were so excited! Mommy asked the people who rescued me about how Patches was doing. Mommy was sorry she did. Those people took Patches in the house, and after a week she wasn't adjusting to the house, so the woman took her to the vet, and the vet said it's not likely she will ever get used to being inside, and after probably not much discussion, they sent Patches to the Rainbow Bridge! THOSE PEOPLE are IDIOTS!!!! How could that poor girl adjust in a week? They should have had her fixed and let her continue to live outside. There aren't any stray animals where we live, except for some possums and squirrels, so she would have been perfectly safe. Patches deserved to be loved and to be safe. She didn't deserve to leave because somebody didn't like the amount of affection she was confortable giving, or not giving as the case may be.

All kitties who have been lucky enough to live in a warm house with food to eat and someone to love them have a lot to be thankful for. Just to know that someone cares for you is the best feeling of all. Even better than Fancy Feast!

It's very hard for Mommy to talk about Beauty without crying. Beauty went to the Bridge in March of this year, which isn't very long ago. She was a very special girl to everyone who knew her. She especially loved her grandmom. Beauty must have lived with a family before coming insidebecause she was litter trained and had house manners. Beauty never even tried to go outside once she came inside and wouldn't have been allowed anyway! She was always ladylike and loved to be groomed she was never fussy, never destructive, never asked for anything other than love. We are very sad that she isn't here, but know she is with us in our hearts every day. Again, deepest thanks for remembering her today.

I am deeply honored to be the Diary of the Day! Thanks to all my friends old and new for celebrating with me.

Thank you all for helping Tiny celebrate his gotcha day. He is starting to feel his age some. Lately his arthritis is acting up. He loves to eat though. He used to be a fatty but now he's a good weight. Mommy says we both like to eat because we are Italian!
..
Last night I watched Jay Leno. I usually don't care who is on. Mommy only puts it on when she doesn't have to woe the next day anyway. Last night though, there were animals! And best of all, Big Cats!!! There was a snow leopard and a white Bengal tiger. And guess what else? They liked getting belly rubs and head scratches just like us little cats! I was so amazed! Mommy said they were pretty but I couldn't have one to play with. But today I will get extra treats to celebrate my diary pick.

He promised to end the war in Iraq, and he did.
He.promised to get Bin Laden, and he did.
He said he would get healthcare for the uninsured, and he did
He kept the US auto manufacturers in business.
He helped prevent another Great.Depression.
He knows education helps keep our country strong
He believes in scientific reason.
He lets people love who they want to love.
He believes the middle class is important and wants to keep it strong.
He supports women's rights.
He moved FORWARD toward a brighter future, not backward to the social, economic, and military policies of bygone days. That:s why I love the President.

I had a great DDP day today. Thank you to all of my friends for helping me celebrate. Smiley and Angel Buddie's family sent warm greetings. Tate gave me a saucer of milk, Joss gave me a cute black cat, Zack also gave me a black cat, and then later he gave me and Tiny an American flag with special pictures attached of me and Tiny showing our love for President Obama. There's still time for interested cats to join us at Pets for Obama to help cheer on our president to a second term.

Happy Halloween to all my Catster friends! I love Halloween, but I'm scared of the trick-or-treaters. I don't like strangers coming to my house. But I will give them candy anyway. I wonder if there will be many kids this year because of Hurricane Sandy? We'll soon see. I hope all of the kids, cats, and pawrents stay safe!

Rock you like a hurricane!

I don't even know what one is, but it's coming! Mommynsaid we had one last year, but I don't remember it too well. Mommy went shopping with grandmom today and bought food for me and Tiny. I guess food for humans, too, but I don't know why they don't eat Fancy Feast. We have a new roof on our house so we should stay warm and dry. I am hoping that all of my friends who live in other parts of Pennsylvania, New Jerey, Maryland, Conneticut and Massachusetts stay safe. Please check in and let us know you're ok!
