A time of celebration and joy, in a very bittersweet way

Today is my birthday, a time of celebration and joy. This year's birthday is going to be a little different. It will be a time of celebration and joy for a life lived and a life loved; of a life that was cut short too soon by FIP. I am celebrating the short and sweet life of my little brother in law Vern today, who made his gentle journey to the Bridge today.

My family and I are deeply saddened at his passing, for her is a very brave little boy; a fighter with the will to live. Vern came and spent the weekend with us last weekend.

We kitties have a certain 6th sense about things that might not be quite right. Vern couldn't walk, and he sat comfortably in his Morgan's Bed in the living room, as our pawrents and we kitties kept him company. Normally, we are not very nice to newcomers and we hiss and growl and make sure they understand that they are not welcome in our house. Well... we sensed, we KNEW something wasn't right with Vern, and we welcomed him. We sniffed noses, we sat with him and were quiet and respectful. Big brofur Poo sat at the fireplace with Vern, contemplating kitty life, as he licked the tiles. We couldn't figure it out; he seemed to be seeking nutrients from the stone.

My birthday wish for today is for Vern's family to find peace and comfort in their ever giving hearts, for having given Vern the ultimate gift of Love by gently helping him to the Bridge.

My birthday gift was being able to meet and visit with Vern before he became an angel; for that I am eternally grateful. Won't you stop by his page and offer some love to him?

What a wonderful diary entry....us cats do know things that humans don't know or feel...we are happy to hear you got to spend time with Vern....we knew he was a fighter, isn't it amazing how some kitties become fighters to the very end...like out QT....

Yes the ultimate gift is giving our kitties the peace...and we hope that their family finds comfort and feel the love from all of us..

We are sorry for Verns family loss and yours...

Our Tallulah is there with Vern flying free and high, she is wrapping her pink angel wings around him welcoming him to the RB with all of the other catster angels...

Kitties do know, no matter how old "we" are. I don't understand why there isn't a vaccine for FIP, I have never heard of it until now. I guess I was lucky that my meowmy gots to see me born 15+ years ago.
I hate to say this but if I could I would give up one of my many lives left to have Vern back alive and most importantly well! I met him once and my meowmy met him twice. He was the sweetest little boy my meowmy efur got to meet and hold and love. He has brought the Cat Nation together that is fur sure and he has brought new furiends to meowmy too (and of course me).
Your page is beautiful Chance....we know Vern had chances in his life because of his special pawrents. He will be furever missed!

WE love Vern, Chance!! It broke our hearts to see him go! Dat FIP is sum nasty stuff 'n got my furbro Smokey Joe too. Jus' know he was loved 'n still is..jus' know he touched many lives 'n will furefur be cherished 'n loved. All the angels love him 'n r takin' good care of him now. Yes kitties have good sense. May peace 'n comfort be ur true furiend now.
