I celebrated a birthday at the beginning of this month. Because Gram is in and out of the hospital and rehab, things have been kind of crazy around here. I did enjoy my day, Mom made sure to give me extra playtime with my red ball and my catnip heart from Zach. They are my favorite things in the whole world.
I do want to thank you all for thinking of me, sending birthday messages and gifts, and reminding Mom that it was my special day! I'm glad I have you guys around to help keep her in line. I want to thank...
Jezebel and Charlie for the singing Blue Bird
Tiger, Tiny and Beauty for the Flowers (they are so colorful)
Milo, Smokey Joe, Timmy, Zig and family for the Rose (so tender and beautiful))
Marmelade and family for Singing to me and for the Flowers (they harmonize really well!)
Mac, Ivy, Legalos and Zander for the Lady Bug (I chase her, but won't hurt her, they say they are good luck!)
Big Harry and Family for the Kite (it sure flies nice, we had some great breezy days for flying it)
Finney, Lacey and Angel Alex for the flowers (it may not feel like spring, but it sure looks like it)
Calista, Crouton, Pistachio and family for the flowers (they are still blooming and look great)
Sleeper, Samhain, Fearless, Owl and family for the Happy Blue Bird and the beautiful cake (it tasted as wonderful as it looked...yum!)
Angel Alfie, Buzz, Boo and Dave for the Rose (Red is my favorite color!)
Tink and Snow for the Cupcakes (they were huge and delicious- they rival the ones from House of Cupcakes in NJ)
and to the one who stole my heart, the handsome Cat of the Month, the Cat of my Dreams, Zachery Tristan who knows the way to my heart is through my bell, lol....thanks for the yummy cake
Thank you all for making my day so special! We love you guys all so very much!
And now the snowball story.....
Once upon a time, there was a pretty calico kitty. She lived in a far away town that received a snowstorm. Not an overwhelming amount, but enough that the humans had to shovel. They bundled up and got their shovels. They did the front steps and the sidewalk and around the cars. I watched and inspected their work from the living room window. They proceeded to shovel the sidewalk that goes around the side of the house. I monitored their progress and caught up to them as they reached the kitchen. I sat in the side windows as they made their way to the back of the house. They began to shovel the patio and the sidewalk up the backyard, making a path to the bird feeder and the heated birdbath. (Yes we have a heater, so the bird's water is never frozen) I sat in the back kitchen window on the very narrow ledge. All the other windows have a radiator under them that we can sit and even lay on quite comfortably. But this is just the window sill, only about 3" wide. I balanced there watching her. Mom saw me. I was watching her but I was also a little distracted because some new snow was falling, big flakes. I did not see Mom pick up the snow and pack it into a a little round ball. I did not see her toss it in my direction until BANG it hit the very window where I was sitting on the narrow ledge. I jumped( ahem, or maybe fell off). There is a little step ladder that helps us get up there, onto the kitchen counter where we are allowed to sit and to the window). I slowly climbed the ladder. I had to know what had just happened. Mom was watching and slowly saw two ears and then my head reappear, looking left and right, I saw Mom and realized what she had done! I gave her a look (you know the one!) and ran from the window. I didn't stay mad long, it was kind of funny. I got her back though, later when she was sitting on the toilet, I was in the sink and I splashed her a good one with the cold water!
So there you have it. The snowball story. And we all lived happily after!

Can you believe it? She owes me big time! Mom forgot my birthday! She peeked on Catster from work today and that is how she found out. I expect presents and a dinner this weekend to make up for the fact that she is clueless!
In all fairness, she hasn't been around much. Our Grammy took that stroke and then went to a rehab center and then with 14 hours went to the hospital with an infection. She is still in the hospital. Mom was going every day to see her. She was moved from the hospital that was an hour away to one that is 30 minutes away. So at least she is a little closer. Grammy is moving her arms and legs pretty well and her speech is coming back. She does have some cognitive challenges and still has a feeding tube. We hope that the infections clear up and she can start getting more therapy. Hint to Mom- when you go visit Grammy, stop at Petco and get some stuff for my birthday - it is right up the highway!
We are so sorry that we missed so much fun lately. Zach has been Cat of the Week for two weeks and we didn't really get to celebrate with him. They say absence makes that heart grow fonder, but I know how he is, with all his lovelies, I don't want him to forget all about me.
I know the Sring Tag is making its rounds. Skylar and Ivan have been tagged and will try to do diary entries to play along. I thought I might want to answer too. Here are some things I like about the Spring...
1. Spring means it is time for my birthday!
2. Spring means Mom wont throw snowballs at the window and startle me. (that is a whole other story for another diary entry)
3. Spring means Mom will wash our bedding and hang it outside, I love how it smells when it comes back in. Better than when it comes out of the dryer.
4. Spring is the time when love is in the air. There is just so much romance going on. I saw the rabbits chasing one another and the doves pairing off and those robins were getting pretty feisty with one another.
I guess that is it for now. Thanks so much for my birthday presents and well wishes. And thanks for remining Mom about my birthday, she would have forgotten otherwise. Thank you for your purrs for Grammy too. We know that is what got her this far.

It was gone almost a month. I looked for it every night. I was sad. I got a beautiful catnip heart from Zach and that helped me, but still I would think about my red ball.
Then, on Saturday, Mom was putting on her sneakers and said, "hey, what's in here?" There is was! My Red Ball!
Now this is where it gets mysterious.... those sneakers have been worn since my ball was missing. So where was the ball all this time? Who was playing a trick on me? If I find out which one of of my misfit brothers or sisters hid my ball from me, there is going to be unforgettable smackey paw! You have been warned!

I can't believe it. It has been missing since early Sunday morning (like 2AM early). One minute I was playing with and the next it was gone. I only play with it in the front bedroom and usually I am supervised so that no one else steals it. Mom-Mom was watching me play, she turned her back to do something and the ball was gone. There were no other cats in the room with me.
The humans have been searching all week with flashlights, moving shoes, looking under the bed and dressers, nightstands, etc. I am so sad that they can't find it. It is my very favorite toy. I even have a picture of me carrying it on my page. I have had it since I was just a kitten.
Every night I look at Mom, playtime? And we can't because my ball is missing. I only want my red ball! If you see it anywhere, please send it back to me!

So last night Mom went to the grocery store. She got us some food, she got some human food including a rotisserie chicken (which I hope we will see more of tonight), and some other stuff like tissues and cleaners, etc. She was unpacking the bags and she set one down at the bottom of the steps to be carried upstairs. It had tissues, tp, toothpaste, deoderant, and a brand new shower scrunchie in it.
Two guesses as to what was ruined in all of 5 minutes and who did this atrocious act. What do you think?
One clue, I watched it happen from high in my perch in the other room and Murphy was in her room. So, neither of us is guilty...that leaves 7 other hoodlums!
Another clue....Mom came in and found the mess and said "I can't believe this...look at this....I just got this....see, we can't ever have anything nice".....and mom was told to "chill out, we have others and it was only .99C"
By then end she was laughing, but she really was annoyed. Do you guys ever destroy nice things?

Yep, as Zachary says, they let me get thrown under the bus. And out of nine cats in this family, none came to my rescue. On Monday night there was a round-up, carriers were stuffed with kitties, and the backseat of the car was filled with cats. It was time for a trip to the Vet.
I got out of it last year, by giving Mom a big scratch from her nose down to her lip while we were struggling to get in the carrier. So this year I was due for 2 shots plus my exam. I hated traveling in the car, I meowed the whole four blocks to the vet. I was scared to the point of panting by being on that cold table. I was nice to the doctor, because she was sweet and said I was pretty and loved my coat. So I didn't even hiss when she gave me my shots.
It was only supposed to be me and Murphy going on Monday night but Rusty has something funky going on with his eye (he will write about it in his diary). When Mom called to ask if she could bring him instead of one of us, they said we could just bring all three of us. What a circus that was! Murphy will write about her visit too.
By the way, I am now a shapely lady cat that weighs 11 lbs. My teeth are good and everything else seems just fine too. Hope I don't have to go back there till next year!

I got tagged by Zachery to write about my first happy memories. Let's see, I was born in the yard and I was one of 6. I was the only calico in the litter and so I stood out from the rest. Mom saw me and it was love at first sight, At least from her end! I was not too sure.
My first really good memory was the first time I snuggled with Mommy and sucked on her earlobe. I was warm and secure and just felt safe and loved. Every once in a while, I will still try this!
My second memory is meeting Skylar for the first time. He is only about 6 months older than I am, but he was such a good big brother. He was never rough with me and would let me play with his tail for hours on end without ever getting annoyed. He still is a very good to me.
My third memory was when I was finally able to reach the bathroom sink by myself. I love to lay in the sink and to drink from the faucet. I was so proud, that day when I was finally able to reach it myself.
I'm going to add a fourth memory. (Because calicos are noted for being quirky!) My very first toy was a little red ball. I loved it better than any other toy. I still have it and love to carry it around the house. You can see my in one of my pictures with it in my mouth in the kitchen.
Who's next? How about Annie, Spooky and my sis, Mrs Murphy

Wake me up....I must be dreaming. Somebody pinch me....did they really call my name?
I was awarded Diary of the Day today - for giving Mom the smackey paw none the less.
Last week I was named a Dreamette and now this! A girl could get used to this attention all the time. Did you hear that Mom......attention.....get me my red ball!
Concats to my accomplices today. Milo, Callie, Isabelle Faith and Stinkers Finn Franscis were Diary Picks today too. It it great being on the same page with you. I sure am in good company!
Thank you all for the comments, pawmails, presents and pictures. Having you here with me, celebrating, is what makes the day most special!

It was sort of an accident. Sort of.....She was trying to get me in the carrier. It was my turn to go to the vet for an my checkup and shots. Me and Rusty had a 10AM appointment. Somehow my back foot caught Mom and scratched her from her nose right down over her lip. I knew it was bad....I hid under the bed.....Mom ran to the bathroom because it was bleeding fiercely. She wound up taking Rusty and Skylar to the vet. Those goofballs will walk right in the carriers! Sorry Mom!

You may have read my brother Ivan's diary today. He was really sick this morning and Mom had to take him to see the doctor. He made quite a few messes around the house, Mom couldn't even keep up with him. Finally she locked him in the bathroom till she could get the bathroom carpets washed and get herself a shower and take him to the Vet. Mom can only say "what a cr**py way to start the day".
The day sure is ending a lot better than it started. Ivan took his meds and is feeling much better. He is eating and drinking and everything is staying where it should be. He is alert and active, as if this morning never even happened.
I also learned that I was named a Dreamette. I received a rose and a beautiful picture that I posted on my page. I am so honored to be named a Dreamette. What a beautiful group of girls. They are pretty, yes, but they are beautiful on the inside too! I am honored to be counted among them.
Love to you all. Enjoy that extra day we have coming up!
