Hi! Thank you all for the purrs. I am starting to feel a little better and it sure is nice to be back home. Let me tell you what happened. It goes something like this....
On Tuesday night, I hacked up a hairball. After that I threw up about 3 more times and I was really not myself. Mom gave me some Pepcid and we all went to sleep. The next morning I didn't want breakfast and was still really wiped out, so Mom called the doctor and I got a noon appointment. They had me on fluids all afternoon. The vampire came and took some of my blood. They started me on something for pain, an antibiotic and some anti-nausea meds. They sent me home around 6:30. The doctor called Mom at work and said to keep an eye on me and suggested that if there was no improvement I should go up to the animal hospital the next morning.
Mom knew she couldn't miss work on Thursday morning, so she decided that it would be better to take me that night then wait till Thursday after work. So there we are at midnight, out on the highway on the way to the hospital. Not a lot of traffic, just some big trucks. When we got there, it was just us. No other patients. No lines, no waiting, no big dogs in the waiting room.
I got an x-ray and got put back on fluids and got settled in my cozy cage for the evening. The next morning, my sweet doctor was in to see me. She fusses over me so much. She gave me an exam and an ultrasound. We even made a movie (of my ultrasound, how cool is that!) I even ate a little baby food for her when she coaxed me. She called Mom and said that they would do bloodwork and keep an eye on me in the afternoon. If things looked okay, they would send me home.
Mom got a call around 5:30 that she could come and pick me up for around 6:30PM. In Mom's town, they were having a big thunderstorm with lots of rain. Mom grabbed a quick bite to eat, let the storm slow down and was out the door. She met with the doctor and picked me up.
(Funny side note, at the check-out desk there was another family checking out too and they had a big dog that was being discharged. He came over and sniffed my crate. I let out a growl that turned heads in the waiting room. The dog jumped back and walked away, he turned to look back at me and I let loose another deep growl. Mom told me to be nice and knock it off, and I responded with a really wimpy meow. The girl behind the desk was laughing and so was the doggy Mom and Dad.)
On our way home it rained so hard. Mom had the wipers going on high speed and her flashers on because we could only go about 40 miles an hour on the highway. You just couldn't see for how hard it was raining. It was even hard to hear, the rain was so loud on the roof of the truck. Mom had to pull over at a rest stop and wait out the storm. We sat with the radio on and waited till it slowed down some.
We then continued home and the rain picked up again, it poured buckets. The roads had streams running along the sides and even had ponds of water in some places. Mom was glad she was in the truck, because it was pretty deep in some spots. We finally made it home, it was pouring, lightening, thundering and wicked. We made a dash for the front door and Mom got soaked...but we were HOME!
I'm glad to be home. I'm not eating that much yet, but as the meds kick in I'm sure I will get my appetite back. Plus Doc gave me an appetite stimulant so that will help too. Thank you all for your purrs and power of the paw. That means a lot to me. You guys are wonderful!
Love and head nudges,

That storm sure was giving you a hard time to get back home. Glad you ARE home and safe, too.
Now work on getting well again, and we are purring fur your wellbeing.
We're so glad you're home, Rusty! Hope you are feeling even better today!
Glad you are home Rusty! That must have been scary with that rain. We had a pretty nasty storm the other day too, and Mom was outside as it rolled in, she said it was kinda cool watching the wind swirling - she ran to take down The Dad's special windchime so nothing would happen to it. We lost power too.
That story at the vet is hysterical - I can just hear you. Maizy growls like a beast, so I can imagine you not feeling well & not wanting to talk to a big doggie!
Keep getting better & get some rest dude. We send purrs even though we are late to the happenings.
Wowza, I'm glad you got home with all that rain. And you were in a movie too? My vet doesn't do movies, but I'm going to tell them I need to be in a movie the next time I visit them. We're all purring that you start eating and feel lots better soon!
