I have heard that there are alot of cases of the flu going around. There is that cold-like flu and then there is that stomach flu. Can cats get the stomach flu? Oh man, was I sick!
Leave A Comment | 10 people already have So sorry you don't feel well Rusty. Whatever nasty bug you have, I'm purring that it goes away fast and you're soon feeling all better! Purrs, Kaci Cats cannot get the "stomach flu" going around, which is caused by norovirus, but they can spread it to humans, and I'll be gentle here, if they are "splatted" on! It dies on their fur if they are just touched, or they wash it off effectively, eventually. They are immune. If this happens, use pet wipes, several of them, getting the pet damp, then wash your hands thoroughly with anticaterial or antimicrobial soap, then use hand sanitizer. The pet will then groom itself. My guess is you are having a bad day from the sympathy pukes! of course you need to be watched for another day of it, which would make it alarming. Snow had a day like this too. We have terrible cabin fever because the weather has been awful! You're right next to us on the map, so we know you have it an hour later! It's fugly! Hope you are feeling well enough to eat a couple treats later! Luv, Tink & Snow Hey Rusty, I had the very same symptoms you have described. The week before Christmas, I became very sick, stopped eating for several days and was nauseated and throwing up. I had a slightly elevated temp, so our vet put me on antibiotics. The problem was that I would throw up shortly after they were administered so I never really absorbed them into my system and Mom stopped giving me the medicine since it made me throw up. We bought over the counter Pepcid and Mom gave me 1/4 tab (2.5 mg) twice a day with some baby meat (all chicken or turkey) with a syringe. I didn't care for that much, but it seemed to help my nausea and it was good to get a little food in my tummy. I ate very little for several days, but I was drinking a lot of water, so Mom kept a close watch on me. Oh, and I slept a lot, almost non-stop. It was about 6-7 days before I felt completely better. We still don't know what caused it, Mom calls it the mystery virus. We were also worried about it possibly being pancreatitis. Sending you lots of purrs buddy! Hope you feel better soon. Sending purrs. Purr Purr Purin' fur U my furiend!~ I shur know how mom'z worry~! Hope U feel better soon~! purrs to you my friend - hopefully it is just a bug what with the crazy weather we have been having. feel better soon Sorry you aren't feeling good, Rusty, but that boiled chicken will be pawsome! Get better soon! Rusty, how are you today? Thanks for your purrs. I am doing a little better today, I have not thrown up since that last time early Monday AM. I am more sleepy than usual but I am up and moving around. I was hanging out in the kitchen with Mom for a while tonight. I ate a few small meals, some chicken and some soft cat food. Hopefully I am on the road to recovery. It seems as you get older, it takes longer to bounce back from these episodes. Mom luckily didn't get the stomach flu, but others at work did, including our Aunt Anita. She is back at work and feeling better now. Mom just wondered if she carried germs home and if it was possible to pass things on to us. Rusty, so so glad your feeling better. Luke I had no idea your weren't feeling good back around Christmas....I would have purred for you! Anyway, as I said, glad your feeling better and glad your mom didn't get the dreaded Norovirus. I hear it's real rough. Take care of yourself and enjoy the boiled chicken. |
