Today I made my journey to be with the angels. I was 15 1/2 years old. I passed quietly in Mommy's arms with the help of out vet. My Moms are very sad, they knew this day was coming, but didnt think it would be so soon.
I was diagnosed several months ago with Chronic Kidney Disorder along with having several bouts of pancreatitis along the way. I would not touch the special kidney food, no matter how hard they tried to give it to me. So they tried to watch the protein count in what I ate and also tried to stay away from the rich and fatty things that would cause my pancreatitis to flare up...so that meant goodbye to bacon, ham and cheese...some of my favorite table treats...although they usually would let me have a little taste. With the CKD I lost weight and muscle. I was down to 9 pounds, half of my regular weight. I ate small meals several times a day, but couldn't keep weight on. Not related, but I also lost my hearing. I was completely deaf...they could run the sweeper right next to me and I wasn't bothered at all. I even learned some sign language.
The last couple of days I was not myself. I was tired, weak and lost my appetite. Mom did give me one of my favorite things on Sunday...some hamburger. I was nauseated so Mom gave me medicine, but it didn't really help. I stopped eating on Monday and stopped drinking on Tuesday night. I was ready to go and the Moms knew in the hearts it was time to let me go.
I said goodbye this morning to my furry family and even got kissed from Maedia and Percy and a nudge from Skylar. My Mom took me out for one more walk in the yard. I walked a little on the sidewalk and then went and laid in the grass. I sniffed and meowed and thank you to Mom for one last visit to my earthly yard.
We went to the doctor, Mom tried to be hopeful that maybe there was something we could do. Maybe it was just a virus or a toothache, but Mom suspected it was more serious. The vet said she could buy me a few more days, but it wouldn't really be quality time.
The doctor and staff were very kind. I passed away peacefully in Mom's arms at 10:25 this morning. Mrs Murphy was there to greet me when I got to the other side.
I thank you all for your friendship and love over the years. I have so many great memories of Catster parties and good times. I will miss you, but know that I will be watching over you all from the Rainbow Bridge.
To my sweet girl, Ashlynne, I'm sorry this old furte couldn't stick around any longer. You will always have a very special place in my heart.
Love and purrs,

Yep, I was locked out, but don't worry I wasn't out in the cold, nasty weather! No, I was locked out of the gift shop. This morning, right after breakfast, I got on the computer to send my lovely Valentine, Ashlynne a gift. I could have done it last night, and probably should have, but some of us from the male species are known to procrastinate. But anyway, I wanted to send a gift early this morning and I couldn't get in the gift shop. Locked out! Darn fleas.....how could they do that on such an important day.
But, happy ending to the story....I was able to get in and do some shopping tonight and send a beautiful girl some beautiful flowers.
Happy Valentine's Day Ashlynne, sending my love, hugs and purrs and don't worry...next holiday, I 'll start my shopping earlier!

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! It was so great to see my pals again, especially the lovely Ashlynne. For those of you who don't know, she was my Valentine and I hope still is. I've always had such a crush on her....I love her fur coat and her sweet temperment and, oh goshm I could go on and on.....
Anyway, we see her on facebook, but we haven't been here in a while, so it was so kind of you all to remember me on my birthday. I had a great day! I had a Fancy Feast Appetizer and I didn't have to share (they are expensive, so we don't get them all the time. Mom pulled my ears (we all get the ear pulling treatment on our birthdays), and we had a big treat party that night and some extra playtime. I may be getting up in age, but I still love to tackle the wand toys. I also got lots of extra hugs and kisses too....I like those alot better than the ear pulling, although Mom doesn't do it hard and I actually like when she plays with my ears.
Many thanks for all the treats on my page and the presents and good wishes
Thank you to...

Wow! I'm 15 years old today! I can't believe another year has gone by. 15 years...that's rougly the equivalent of 76 in human years according to a calculator mom found on the web.
My health has changed a bit in this last year. Mom noticed a few months ago that I can no longer hear. I don't hear the can opener, I don't hear her call me or use my "whistle" (She has a special whistle that I would always respond to), I can't hear the water splashing in the tub (Mom has to show me that it is turned on for me to get a drink). Although there are some advantages too ....I didn't mind the fireworks on New Year's Eve and football season with all that yelling at the TV wasn't too bad either. I even sleep through the vaccuum cleaner!
I was also diagnosed with (CKD) Chronic Kidney Disease. Mom got special food from the vet for me, but I absolutely hate it! Even if it is mixed in with regular food, I know it is there and won't eat anything. Mom is still going to keep trying though, she wants to keep me around a while longer. I do drink alot of water and the vet said that is a good thing for me.
I'm still a good boy though. I love to nap with Mom in the recliner. I like to have nip parties. I am patient with my furry family and love to groom the top of their heads. I love rotissiere chicken. I love when Aunt Anita comes to visit. I also like hanging out in the man-cave (the basement) with my buddy Skylar.
Purrs and head nudges to you all,

Sunday was my 14th Birthday! Pretty hard to imagine. It seems like only yesterday.....hmmmm. I must be getting old, I feel nostalgic!
We didn't do too much to celebrate on Sunday, but let me tell you about Tuesday! Wait, maybe I should start with the middle of last week. Our fountain was acting up. Sometimes it would run and sometimes it would stop. When it wasn't running, Ivan would bite the edge of it, try to pick it up and bang it back down. (It is actually velcroed to a mat because he can pick it up and spill it). Mom cleaned it a few times thinking that something was wrong with the filter or the pump. Well on Thursday she felt the cord and it was way too warm. So the fountain was no more! A sad day in our household. We all love the fountain, Mom is constantly refilling it. She got on the computer and ordered us a new one...while she was at it she ordered us 2 new scratching posts and one for our other grammy's kitten too.
On Tuesday, Skylar was waiting on the radiator for the mailman. He watches for him every day. Skylar saw someone else first though...the UPS man, leaving 3 big boxes on our porch. He ran and told us and we all took turns looking out the window and trying to guess what was inside. We didn't get to open the boxes till the Moms were both home. It was awesome! We were thrilled to have a fountain again and we are enjoying the new posts. One is carpet and one is sisal and they are tall so we can stretch good when we scratch. We also have one of those corrugated cardboard lounge scratchers and we love that too. We also got to play in the big boxes, that was almost as much fun!
Many thanks for all who stopped by my page for my birthday. I'm so glad you are still hanging out here. Thank you for the gifts and well wishes. Special thanks to WeBeeSiamese for the picture, you made this old man look downright handsome! Love you guys more than my new scratchers,

Hi! Thank you all for the purrs. I am starting to feel a little better and it sure is nice to be back home. Let me tell you what happened. It goes something like this....
On Tuesday night, I hacked up a hairball. After that I threw up about 3 more times and I was really not myself. Mom gave me some Pepcid and we all went to sleep. The next morning I didn't want breakfast and was still really wiped out, so Mom called the doctor and I got a noon appointment. They had me on fluids all afternoon. The vampire came and took some of my blood. They started me on something for pain, an antibiotic and some anti-nausea meds. They sent me home around 6:30. The doctor called Mom at work and said to keep an eye on me and suggested that if there was no improvement I should go up to the animal hospital the next morning.
Mom knew she couldn't miss work on Thursday morning, so she decided that it would be better to take me that night then wait till Thursday after work. So there we are at midnight, out on the highway on the way to the hospital. Not a lot of traffic, just some big trucks. When we got there, it was just us. No other patients. No lines, no waiting, no big dogs in the waiting room.
I got an x-ray and got put back on fluids and got settled in my cozy cage for the evening. The next morning, my sweet doctor was in to see me. She fusses over me so much. She gave me an exam and an ultrasound. We even made a movie (of my ultrasound, how cool is that!) I even ate a little baby food for her when she coaxed me. She called Mom and said that they would do bloodwork and keep an eye on me in the afternoon. If things looked okay, they would send me home.
Mom got a call around 5:30 that she could come and pick me up for around 6:30PM. In Mom's town, they were having a big thunderstorm with lots of rain. Mom grabbed a quick bite to eat, let the storm slow down and was out the door. She met with the doctor and picked me up.
(Funny side note, at the check-out desk there was another family checking out too and they had a big dog that was being discharged. He came over and sniffed my crate. I let out a growl that turned heads in the waiting room. The dog jumped back and walked away, he turned to look back at me and I let loose another deep growl. Mom told me to be nice and knock it off, and I responded with a really wimpy meow. The girl behind the desk was laughing and so was the doggy Mom and Dad.)
On our way home it rained so hard. Mom had the wipers going on high speed and her flashers on because we could only go about 40 miles an hour on the highway. You just couldn't see for how hard it was raining. It was even hard to hear, the rain was so loud on the roof of the truck. Mom had to pull over at a rest stop and wait out the storm. We sat with the radio on and waited till it slowed down some.
We then continued home and the rain picked up again, it poured buckets. The roads had streams running along the sides and even had ponds of water in some places. Mom was glad she was in the truck, because it was pretty deep in some spots. We finally made it home, it was pouring, lightening, thundering and wicked. We made a dash for the front door and Mom got soaked...but we were HOME!
I'm glad to be home. I'm not eating that much yet, but as the meds kick in I'm sure I will get my appetite back. Plus Doc gave me an appetite stimulant so that will help too. Thank you all for your purrs and power of the paw. That means a lot to me. You guys are wonderful!

Yep, that is what it is. And if I could speak, that is what I would have said. My thung ith thut! Translated...."My Tongue is Cut"
I wasn't eating like I normally do on Sunday and Monday, so Mom called the vet and they took me in on Tuesday morning. I wasn't throwing up or anything else, but I wasn't myself and seemed interested in food but then couldn't eat. Mom thought maybe I had a toothache.
Mom dropped me off at the vet and then called back to see what they had found. The doctor talked to Mom and said that they had given me some fluids and that she found a large laceration on my tongue and that was probably the reason I was not eating. She sent me home with meds for pain and told Mom to water down my wet food or give it to me by syringe if I won't eat it on my own.
Since taking the pain meds, I am eating on my own. No crunchies though, they are still too painful. Mom doesn't know what happened. Doc said I could have bitten my own tongue or cut it licking something sharp, like a cat food can lid or empty can. Mom is not sure how it happened. I am not usually an object chew-er so it is unlikely that I would put something strange in my mouth.
Sorry we have not been around much lately. Mom is still going a little crazy because of our Grammy. She did get to go to a nursing home/rehab center last Thursday and Mom has been going to see her and take her things that she needs. Gram has good days and bad days. Mom is wiped out from everything. So stressful.
Hope to see you guys soon. Skittles will be by to give her birthday thank yous and tell the snowball story and Skylar might be in to tell you about Aunt Anita's upcoming short stay.

Hi Everybody! My apologies for being so late with my thank you note. My secretary, who shall remain nameless to protect her identity (but I call her Mom), has been piled with other stuff and kept putting this on the back burner.
My health has been good and I will be going back for a re-check soon. It was supposed to be this coming Thursday but Mom may have to reschedule because she may not be able to leave work early. She and a few others will be out during the day for an e-book training. It is funny because it is in same area where my appointment is, but she is going for training in the morning and I am not scheduled till the afternoon. It could have almost been "Take Your Kitty to Work Day"!
I can't believe the time is flying by so fast. It was over three weeks ago when I was Diary of the Day! It seems like it was just last week. I had a wonderful day, there were presents, pictures, messages, comments and pictures and Mom gave me lots of extra lovies and attention.
I would like to thank.....
Ashlynne, my lovely Valentine, for the Crown

Wow! Mom opened her email and saw that I am Diary of the Day! Thanks Diary Gal! It is cool because I wrote about my sweet Valentine Ashlynne and my good report from the doctor.
Each day, I have been feeling better and better. Mom got an appetite stimulant from the doctor, but it turns out, I don't need it. I am eating pretty well now. My coat looks good and I have a little more spring in my step. I'm not back to jumping and tackling my wand toy, but will be soon.
It sure has been an exciting time lately. We got a new scratch lounger as a Valentine present. We played with the box it came in, the packing paper and with the scratcher. We all love it and are taking turns nicely. I also got a "get well" catnip mouse from Zach and Zoe. It came from River's shop, so you know it is good. We have been having so much fun.
Then it was all the excitement of Valentine's Day. Of the fun and romance in the air. All those catnip candy boxes we received, excellent, because I need to pick up a few pounds from when I was sick. They should do the trick nicely! There was also a fun Valentine/Mardi Gras party at Zach's Pool Hall this weekend. There was food, there was music and dancing. Our family had a great time.
And now this! Diary of the Day! I am so excited! What a great way to start the week. Thank you to all those who already stopped by so early this morning delivering messages and gifts and cool pictures. Sharing this day and having my friends all stop over is what makes this day so special. You guys rock!

First off, I have a lovely Valentine. Her name is Ashlynne . Just check out how pretty she is. Happy Valentine's Day Ashlynne! There is a party at Zach's pool hall this weekend, maybe we can grab a bite to eat and do some dancing.
Second, I was to the doctor today for a follow-up. They did an ultrasound and bloodwork and the doctor was very happy with the results. She has taken me off all the meds except the Ursidiol and wants to see me back in a month. I think the doctor has a crush on me, but hey, I already have a lovely valentine. Sorry Doc!
Thank you all for the candy, we have the sweetest friends! Thank you also for the purrs and prayers while I was sick. I know they helped tremendously!
Love you guys, my catster furmily!
