So there was a new kitten outside for a few days. Not part of the colony, definitely NOT feral. Momma says she acted just like I did when found home. Sweet little grey girl with green eyes & a huge purr. Why she climbed right up Momma's leg to get snuggles. Now of course Momma wanted to keep her. But honestly as much as the heart wanted this - and Momma wanted it BAD Momma knew that with Felix's issues & I am uptight enough with adding Felix & seeing the ferals outside sometimes, & our Nana not being up to snuff, now was not a good time to have another kitten, nor to really afford one. We get no $ help for the ferals, and them 12 eat ALOT. Momma hated to just TNR Pearl as the other colony kitties were picking on her and she is so sweet - well she deserves a family to love her. After many calls & emails, Momma found a wonderful place that is cageless & no kill - in a big bright beautiful home on the north side of Chicago, that would take her. What a nice place it is - & believe me Momma inspected it. The kitties have a floor of the home for themselves with tons of big windows & perches & beds. They all looked HAPPY. & the place was so clean no smells at all - even in the isolation room. The lady there said "please do not worry - I promise I will find her a good home, and she will be happy here until she finds just the right place" As a matter of fact, after Pearl has a day or two of antibiotics & a bath, she will get to play in the kitten room with other babies for friends! There are 3 kittens just waiting to play with Pearl that someone left on the lady's back step in a bag...can you beleive that? The lady there is also friends with the lady that runs the TNR program Mom is registered with, so for sure we know it is an A-OK place. Momma of course cried the entire time, and is still crying & would go back to get her in a second. Amazing how in 6 days, they are in your heart. It hurts so much Momma says, but it was the right thing to do. Now, go have a wonderful life sweet little Pearly-girl! and please...no more new kitties come in the yard - it is just too hard for Momma.

Your mama has a great big heart and that's a wonderful thing! We are happy that she found Pearl a nice place to be fostered and we hope Pearl finds her forever home soon. Tell your mama that my mom knows how she feels, falling in love with Pearl so fast. That's why my mom was a foster failure three times over! (Mom has a thing for ferals...I am one of her feral foster failures! MOL)
Aww . . . your mommy's a big softie! We understand how she feels. Those little ones win our hearts so easily! Good for her for feeding the ferals and noticing that Pearl wasn't a feral and taking special interest in her. Her foster home sounds terrific and I'm sure they'll take great care of her until she finds a permanent home. Purring for Pearl to find a good furever home!
That's really good of your momma to help Pearl.
Yeah- Marmelade - this is exactly why I cannot foster as much as I would love to. Maizy - foster that I could not give back. Tigger, found kitty that I kept. Smitty feral kitty that Tigger found & I fell for. Felix was a feral born in my back yard & with him getting so sick, I stepped in to help him, and of course I could not just put him back outside...I fell so hard for Pearl. I have pictures on my phone, but it is not a smart phone so I have to figure out how to get them off there. I thought about her all night long....but it will get better...
*HUGS* to your Momma for saving Pearl. She may not be part of your family but some lucky family will take her home. Thanks to your Momma little Pearl won't have to worry about finding food again or being cold or unloved. I hope we may get a progress report about her.
Hi Tigger's Mama,
With assistance my mom and dad found homes for three of my fursiblings. Even though it has been over five years, Mom still thinks about them and wonders how they are doing. It was really difficult to let them go, but knowing they had good homes helped. My mom is happy that she took pictures of them that she can look at every so often and remember. :)
Oh Thank Catness there are people like your mom in the world. That poor kitty could have perished without her! And thank catness for the wonderful lady who gives an entire floor of her home to the unwanted. Sigh! It brings me back to when I was found by similar angel people and I am truly grateful, so momma don't cry - you have made Pearl very happy even if she doesn't know it yet.
