My Big Day Out

October 7th 2012 2:59 pm

Well, yesterday was my big day out. We got up early, had breakfast and were in the car by 9AM. We stopped at the bank and then we were on our way. I stayed in my carrier for the first half hour and then banged on the door to get out. Don't they realize, you can't see anything from down there. I sat on Mom-Mom's lap and watched everything. We saw farms and pretty trees and firetrucks and a train. The train was cool, whizzing by on the tracks.
When we got to the vet, i went back in my carrier and we went in for my appointment. The doctor wasn't ready yet but they let us wait in an exam room instead of in the waiting room which was nice because there were some really big dogs there.
Doc B came in to see and give me a bit of an exam and then they took me for bloodwork and ultrasound. They couldn't clean my teeth, but Doc B is very confident that they can safely do it here. He even talked with an anesthesiologist to see what they would recommend. He will be talking with my vet and giving her the dosages and meds. The Moms went to the diner right down the street and I was ready before they were back. Doc B brought me back down to the room and I was happy to see them. Doc was real nice and thought I looked very handsome in my bowtie! He loved it! He was very pleased with my ultrasound and said that everything looks good. He will have my bloodwork results on Monday and will give Mom a call to go over them. I don't have to go back for long time, or if I start having problems.
We went back to the car and I sat in my carrier for a while. We stopped at a dairy on the way back for ice cream. I waited patiently in the car for my vanilla cone (but it never came). Mom did give me some bacon from the diner though! (Don't tell my cardiologist!) We were home by 4:30 and I had something to eat, took a good pee and went to sleep in my carrier!
I'll let you all know how my blood results are when we here anything.

I'm Blessed! ( But I knew that already!)

Mom took Rusty and I to the church parking lot to receive our blessing from the priest. There was only one other cat there besides us, and there were lots and lots of dogs.

Today is the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi. He is known as the patron saint of animals and the environment. He is also thought to have created the first manger scene (which of course included animals)!

Here is the Franciscan Blessing of Animals
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures.
You inspired St. Francis to call all animals his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless this animal.
By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan.
May we praise you for all beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen

No matter who guides your spirit, perhaps today, be thankful that some higher power was so gracious to grant us our furry (and not so furry) brothers and sisters, our babies and our best friends! Someone sure knew what they were doing, making such magnificent creatures to walk the earth beside us.

St Francis, a trip to the Cardiologist, and other fun stuff

So...the cat carrier is back in the dining room. (I don't know why it is a dining room, there isn't even a table in there and more eating goes on in the living room in front of the tv). But, I digress.

Yes, the cat carrier. It means that someone is going somewhere. Sounds like it is me. I have a trip to the cardiologist on Saturday. Nothing serious, just a check-up. Mom was waiting for an appointment and they called and said that my doc will be in on Saturday, so we will be going. The doc doesn't see many patients anymore, he now owns the hospital. Wow! I like him, even though he puts me through all kinds up tests. It is also pretty far away, about 100 miles, so we have over a 2 hour car ride.

It is also "Blessing of the Pets" for the Feast of St Francis at Mom's church on Thursday. She is coming home from work early to take whoever volunteers to go. Usually it is me or Rusty. We really do volunteer, she will come in and ask " who wants to go for a ride?" and one or both of us will get in carriers. Grammy said that she would go too this year. She has never gone before, so this will make it all the more interesting.

And other fun stuff......look at all them pretty balloons. They sure do make a page cheerful. Mom's inbox was exploding with 9 cats getting balloons! Thank you so much for thinking of us and sending us balloons.

Thanks friends. We love ya!

Guess what?

Guess what? I'm going to fire my secretary. Do you know what she has done? Or better yet, do you know what she hasn't done?

She never sent out my birthday thank you notes. Bad mommy, bad! It was my birthday and then it was vacation and then a whole bunch of our friends went to the bridge and then it was one thing after another. And the notes didn't get done!

Do you know what else she has done? She sprained her ankle AND broke a bone in her foot. Way to go, Mom. Very classy! She is not in a cast, but has to wear one of those velcro shoes and an ankle wrap. She goes for another x-ray in 2 weeks to see how it is healing.

Do you know what else she did? She got us 4 new litter boxes for the house. Someone was having accidents and Mom thinks it may have been in protest. She is keeping an eye on us, in case someone may have a UTI. It is a puddle not a vertical spray so she is ruling out a territory issue. We use plastic storage boxes and even though you clean them out and wash them at some point they start retaining to much odor and she thinks it was probably past time to replace them.

Mom says we should do this now, before her pain meds kick in. Mom says we should write a thank you note in my diary. So I will try my best and hope that I don't miss anybody. I want to thank you all for making my day so special. It was great day and big reminder of how grateful we are for one another (that I have such a good home and that Mom has me for company and that we have all of you here for love and support. You are such wonderful friends)

Birthday and Other Exciting News!

On Wednesday I will be 5 years old. Mom is on vacation so we are going to spend some time together and she will also make us something yummy for supper and that we will have a little party.

Turning 5 means a few things. Mom expects me to behave because now I am older and wiser. (I am usually pretty good, so this shouldn't be too tough). Being 5 means a trip in the fall to the cardiologist for a re-check. (I have been doing well, with no symptoms and no medications).

In other exciting news, it is time for Aunt Anita to come stay with us. Mom is going on vacation and Aunt Anita will be coming here. She was over for a visit the other night and we had a treat party with her. Aunt Anita's husband has been very sick lately, please give a little purr for him. We are worried that he might end up in the hospital while Mom is away and poor Aunt Anita will be running to her own home, to the hospital and to our house.

Mom is going to miss some of the pirate festivities here, but she will have wi-fi, so she hopes to check-in mornings and evenings. How about this....
Mom is going on a pirate cruise on the Kalmar Nyckel
She promised to take lots of pictures and to learn some new pirate vocabulary.

Well got to get to bed. The big day is coming.

New Ride!

We got us a New Ride for when we want to go out Tom Catting around. Mom's cousin said that we can borrow it, as long as we remember to fill the tank up when we bring it back. I think I might swing down and pick up Zachery and Gump and take it for a spin this weekend. I think we have room for one or two more. Who wants to come for a ride?

Mom has a new name for me!

Mom said she has a new name for me. It is because I am good at my second job. (You might recall that my first job is eating food so that we can recycle cans for $). My second job is "Mouser extraordinaire"!

While Mom was on the computer this morning, she heard another mouse scurrying around. She ran upstairs and called for me and Rusty to come to work. We got right on the job and within minutes had results.

Take a Look

Tomorrow Mom is going to try and seal up the spots were they might be getting in. Oh well, then I will have more time for my primary job.

By the way, can anyone tell me how to put in pics from photobucket, that you just mouse over them and they appear? Mouse over? Where? Ooops, not that kind! MOL!

Oh, and can you guess my new name?

Falling behind!

No, I didn't fall behind the couch or the refrigerator, but I have fallen behind on my thank you notes. We have had a crazy few weeks at our house and at work and Mom just didn't have alot of computer time lately.

I want to thank everyone for making my "Cat of the Week" time so wonderful. I made some new friends and heard from some old ones too. I got tons of presents and pictures and just felt so much love from all of you. It was absolutely the best week ever!

Mom is still working on my thank you notes, but we want you to know how much we appreciated every kind gesture.

Did you see? Our buddy Kringle is Cat of the Day today and Fearless is Diary of the Day! How awesome is that! How sweet it was to see them there in the spotlight! Party!

Who Are You Really?

My best buddy Zach was helping me celebrate COTW and did an interview with me last week. Out of that interview has grown a massive game of tag that is spreading around Catster. We want to know.....Who Are You Really? Answer the following questions and tag five others to play.

1) Tell me your funny Christmas story:
My very first Christmas, I un-decorated the tree on Christmas Eve. I took off the bottom rows of lights and all the balls I could reach. Santa came and had to re-trim the tree or else I would have been in trouble in the morning. He was surprisingly more jolly than Mom would have been to see the tree like that. He gave me a little pat on the head and let me have a sip of the milk Mom had left out for him. And then in a wink, he was gone.

2) Where's your favorite hiding place when playing hide and go seek?
Don't tell the others, but I like to go behind the couch in the living room.

3) What did you dream of being as a young kit?
We mentioned this in the interview with Zach. Most times I wanted to be the Sheriff, although, every once in a while, I wanted to be the bad guy all dressed in black. I love my westerns!

4) What's your favorite hobby? Anything goes.
Does watching TV count. I like to watch cartoons, but I don't get to do it very often.

5) What's your one "bad habit" that you love and your Mom hates?
Biting Mom's ankles in the morning after her shower. She is hopping around trying to get dressed and I am right there, nipping at her and weaving around her legs. She says that she hates when I do that, but I think she secretly enjoys some attention from me.

6) If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
I want to go out west, maybe see the Grand Canyon, visit Texas and go to a
Dude Ranch!

Dude Ranch

7) What is your guilty pleasure? Food, skirts and suits or cars? What?
I do like food, I sure do like girls, but still am kinda shy around them. I would have to say my bow ties, I love dressing up in my classy grey suit!

8) What is your favorite make believe monster? And yes girls, unicorns and fairies are included. Post a pic of this mysterious beast.

I don't know what it is called, but it scares the willlies out me is a picture

9) What is the one dreaded thing you have to do at home? Babysitting, taking baths, entertaining guest....what is your dread?

Hmmmmmm, that is tough. I'm pretty easing going, I would have to say baths and showers, I won't even hang out in the bathroom when Mom gets the water running.

10) We are going to have coed ships this year so which ship do you want to be on mine, or Zoes. Gris will be having a small ship (more like a dingy) for all our kits to be on.

I was on Zach's ship last year and we had a awesome time. told him right away that I wanted to go with him again this year.

I would like to tag
1. Samoa
2. Fearless
3. Orange Ruffy
4. Timmy
5. Lacey
and you, come on, play along!
