My brother needs purrs

Just wanted to post a quick entry. My brother Rusty is in the hospital. Mom took him this morning. He was vomiting on Friday, several times, and would not eat or drink yesterday. He was not himself yesterday and even after a good night's sleep, he was very lethargic today. She did not want to wait another day to go to our regular vet, so she took him to the hospital that is about 40 minutes north of us. They did blood work and a urinalysis and an x-ray (to rule out ingesting a foreign body), a quick ultrasound of his bladder and they are giving him fluids. Tomorrow they will be doing an ultrasound and he will be seeing an internist. They think it could be pancreatitis, but there is also inflammation around the liver and the gall bladder. Tomorrow's test may give us a better idea of what is going on.
Please keep him in your purrs, please don't use your zealies and send gifts, just send a thought his way for a good recovery. Mom is surprised at how quickly he got sick. He had been eating well, playing, using his box right up until Friday morning. Other than the occasional hairballs, he is not one to ever really get sick. Thanks,

I am a tough pirate but...

Yep, I am a tough pirate sailing with Captain Dread Zaxery Drake but I do admit I missed my Mommy a little bit while she was away. She came home yesterday from her voyage to the sea and I followed her all around the house and snuggled with her most of the night.
I do believe I will be fine on the ship with Capt. Drake, we will be so busy, I will not have time to miss my Mommy. I am the boatswain/ petty officer and will be planning, scheduling, and assigning work. I inspect our vessel and can call for cleaning, painting and maintenance of our vessel's hull and deck equipment.
Here are a few more details about my job. A boatswain's skills may include cargo rigging, winch operations, deck maintenance, working aloft, and other duties required during deck operations. The boatswain is well versed in the care and handling of lines, and has knowledge of knots, hitches, bends, whipping, and splices as needed to perform tasks such as mooring a vessel. The boatswain typically operates the ship's windlasses when letting go and heaving up anchors. Moreover, a boatswain may be called upon to lead firefighting efforts or other emergency procedures encountered in the inherently dangerous environment of a ship.
So there you have it. I will definitely be too busy to even think about my Mommy. She will have to sit home and worry about me this time!

The Return of Aunt Anita

Mom is going on vacation to the beach for a few days and Aunt Anita is coming to stay with us. She came over to visit on Monday night, so we suspected something was going to happen. And then the travel bags appeared and the beach box and the cooler. We know what's going on!

Mom stocked up on cat food and treats and people snacks for Aunt Anita. While Mom was preparing for her trip, I gathered the furry family and we prepared for Aunt Anita.

We have our assigned roles. We know who is to splash the water out of the fountain in the kitchen. Who will put the toy mice in Aunt Anita's shoes. Who will bang on the kitchen cupboard to get her attention and get her to give us treats. Who stare at nothing on the ceiling just to give her the willies. Who will nearly trip her on the steps (we never do this at the top, but at the last step where there is a landing and a turn---Mom knows to just stop and wait for us to all bound down the steps and past her)

We of course have also planned our snuggle times. Who gets to sit by her at the kitchen table, who gets to be on the recliner with her, and who gets the head and who gets the feet in bed.

Mom will try to check in on Catster from time to time. We hope we do not miss too much. Please stay dry, safe and watch out for the flooding. Our purrs go out to all who have been affected by the storms. Central and Northeastern PA has gotten hammered with rain and the creeks and rivers have risen quickly. Stay safe!

Hugs and purrs,

PS Thank you to all my friends for helping make my birthday so special. I appreciate all the gifts and comments and well wishes. You guys are awesome!

Eeek A Mouse!

Mom was down the basement tonight and saw a mouse. She squealed and called for back-up! Rusty has been sent down to assist with finding the mouse. My feeling are kinda hurt that she didn't ask me. Hmmm. We'll just see what Rusty can do! If he can't maybe Mom will have to ask me.

We had two mice get in last year in the fall.
Mom can't figure out how they get in or why they would try to get in a house that has eight cats! Pretty crazy mice if you ask me!

We just felt the earthquake that took place in Virginia. Preliminary reports say 5.8 on the scale. Felt really strange here. We hope that everyone is ok. Check in and let us know that you are fine!

Cheering for Pennsylvania

We have been watching extra TV lately. I like that because I get to snuggle with Mom on the recliner or sit at her feet and watch TV too. What have we been watching? The Little League World Series!
The Little League World Series is held every year in South Williamsport, PA. They have a really cool complex of fields and a museum. 16 teams compete. Eight from the United States and 8 from all over the world How about this...Parking and admission to games are both free!
The team representing the Mid-Atlantic Region is from Pennsylvania. In fact, they are from Lock Haven where Mom went to college (about 100 miles west of us). On Friday when Mid-Atlantic played there were over 41,000 fans in attendance. There are major league teams that get lower numbers at their games. Attendance is this good because Lock Haven is only about 29 miles from South Williamsport and they have alot of fan support. A Pennsylvania team has not one the Series since 1960; so this is exciting stuff for us.
Mid-Atlantic lost on Friday night 1-0 to Kentucky and won tonight over Rhode Island. Their next game is on Monday.
I think I like this baseball stuff...the grass looks like it would really be tasty, there is some sort of sand there to dig in and maybe leave a little treasure behind, there are balls to chase...although those boys throw too fast for me! Mom looked at the Pets are allowed Bummer! Guess I'll have to settle for watching it on TV!

Total Score (Place your score/name in your Diary Title):
total of 1 I am a Laidback Lovebug

0-5 LAIDBACK LOVEBUG: You are a lovebug. You are sweet (and probably floofy) and you go with the flow. Nothing *really* bothers you and you like everybody. You don’t even mind having a feisty sibling! You are a laidback lovebug!

6-15 COOL CAT: You are one cool cat. Smooth with a touch of mischief. You’ve got a bit of feisty in you and a bit of lovebug. Balance is good; you know how to have a good time by chasing and pouncing AND you know how to have a good time by being a mellow kitty and just hanging out. You are a cool cat!

16+ CRAZY FEISTY: You are a nut. A cheeky little monkey! Crazy, feisty, the talk of the town! Chasing kitty sisters, demanding your human feed you NOW, eating your mom’s favorite pair of shoes, turning on the oven with your freakishly strong teeth just because you can! The world is your playground and you’ll try anything once (or twice). If your human can handle the shenanigans of a CRAZY FEISTY kitty cat, all is good! If your human cannot handle the shenanigans, wait until she leaves for work to get crazy and then blame it on your sistercat when your human comes home! You are crazy feisty (and a whole lot of mischievous fun!)!

Any kitty that wants to play is invited! Feel free to tag friends to find out just how feisty your friends are!

Can You Read Me Now?

We have not been on Catster too much lately and sort of held back over the weekend with the upgrade going on. Mom thought it would be a good idea to see if my diary would post; as we noticed many of our friends are having some troubles.

Not too much is going on here. Ivan and Percy turned 2 last week and we sang to them and got the wonderful Fancy Feast appetizers that Mom only gives us for special occasions. They will be sending out paw mails soon for their birthday gifts.

Well gotta go and pick out my "storm spot". We are supposed to have thunderstorms today and I want to pick out my nice, safe and secure spot.

Purrs, Skylar

Ewww a Skunk!

Mom has been seeing a skunk in our yard (and sometimes in the neighbor's yard) at night. He snoops around our garden and around the ground under the bird feeders. We also have seen a ground hog and an opossum lately. The skunk is usually out around 10:30 pm. Last night he must have had a change of plans. Mom didn't see him in the yard, but the neighbors across the alley had company and maybe it was a little too noisy for him to come out. Because he did eventually make his rounds last night. We know...we smelled him! Someone or something must have startled him as he was coming around the front of our house. Whew-eeee! It was so strong! It woke everybody up, except for Ivan. Because it has been so warm the windows were open and the scent just came wafting in. We were all sitting around the house, sniffing by the windows or even sitting taking in the smell with our mouths part way open. ( Mom says when we do that, it always looks like we are about to speak and then think better of it!) Once the smell got a little milder, we all went back to bed. But my beauty sleep was interrupted so I think I will go take a nap. Later, Skylar

I was tagged by tell you about my family. So my friends, here it is:

Mom: She found me in the yard right before her birthday. She is the grocery shopper, the litter box cleaner, the lovie giver and our playtime friend. She gives me my morning lovies and slips me treats when the others are not looking. She works only 10 minutes from our house so she often comes home to have lunch with us. She was once was offered a job at a local veterinary hospital but couldn't take it because of her work schedule and taking care of her own Mom. Secret talent: can decorate cakes and play 3 musical instruments Recreation: reading, bowling, and of course...Catster!

Mom Mom: Yep, I have two mommies....they have been together almost 20 years. Mom Mom is our food provider, giving us breakfast and dinner every day. She works two jobs, the second one at a bowling alley (how cool is that!) She loves to snuggle in the recliner with us when she is reading or watching tv. She also keeps us entertained by filling the bird feeders in the yard. Secret talent: makes the most awesome Cream of Potato Soup Hobbies: watching tv, bowling and stamp collecting

I have two grandmas and lots of Aunts and Uncles. Most of the cousins are grown up...the youngest is 14. It is not so scary anymore when they visit since they are older.

I can't forget to mention, I have 7 fursiblings. We all get along really well. I like it here...I think I'll stay!
