Fleas Release Me....Let Me Go

As I mentioned in an earlier diary, the foster kitties had fleas. Well, the kitties are gone and the fleas are still with us. Mom found one on me today and one on Skittles and she has seen several of my siblings who seem itchier than usual. She has been vacuuming alot and washing throw carpets and bedding but she knows we must do more.

Do you get flea treatments? What do you use? Do you get it from the Vet? From the store? Or online?

What about the carpets? We don't think we need to fog the house. It does not seem that serious, yet.

What do you recommend?

I know, mine too! Our Mom's might be giving away their ages by knowing the words.

Don't tell the Tabbie this, but when Mom was a little she couldn't say his name and would call him Engle Bird!

MOL, my mom was a very late oops baby so she grew up with older parents. At least for that day and age. Now it's normal to have a baby at 35, not back in the 60s! So she knows all about these singers and old shows. She was FORCED to watch them! MOL. (not always forced truth be told but she says it that way).

My Mom grew up that way too. Her Mom ( My Gram) was second youngest in a family of 11 and her Dad was third youngest in a family of 14. Yikes! Mom came along when Gram was 36, so there were lots of adults around and not alot of kids my Mom's age.

Holy schminoly! MOL. That's a lot of kids. Mom is the youngest of 3 girls. Her two older sisters are thick as thieves and never bothered much with mom. So she was forced to grow up with adults. Probably why she loves to watch cartoons to this day! MOL. Has her childhood things that still make her feel good.

MOL! You guys are too funny! Skylar, how easily your itchies are distracted by Engle Birds! Seriously though, check effuryone's bedding too--you don't want that spreading.

Purrs that this is over and done with soon.

Headbonks...

For environmental fleas, the only way to get rid of them is to fog. Mom had them with Kika when she was tiny, she came with them & Advantage didn't work. They tried Revolution and loved it! It also covers some other possible problems too. There are Forums where she's provided a lot of specific details about fleas under Cat Health.
She's doing the right things so far. I would use flea collars more for prevention and drops for an infestation. She found it well worth the price, but you have many more kitties to treat. Try the less expensive ways first.
Be sure to throw away the vacuum cleaner bags if you use them. Luv, Tink

Skylar the product that the Tabbies are referring to is on my website. If you go here: http://ibdkitties.net/Groomingoral.html, click on the picture of the Only natural pet all in one flea remedy, it'll take you right to that product. It's IBD Kitties recommended as safe!

We were gonna suggest diatomaceous earth, too - Whoa! the Tabbies spelt a long wurd!!! :) - for the carpets and such anyway. We've been on Revolution, though, since the spring. As Tink said, it targets not just fleas, but stuff like the heartworms and such you can get from mosquito bites. Since we're out in the cattery, this seemed best. One site mentioned making sure you use food grade if you use it with pets; and be careful of breathing too much of the particles.

Sounds like you have the fleas covered! My mom is singing Release me now..She is an old furt and a romantic. She grew up on the music of Engelbert Humperdinck! She still thinks he has one of the best voices ever.

Skylar, mommy always has used Revolution on me 'n now Mallee too. Ur right, Samhain, it's da best effective preventative! When Smokey Joe was lil, mom had a bad flee infestation. Him got washed wif Dawn more times den he wants to memmer! Flea powder's, flea baf's, vacumn's, den da apartment peeps came out 'n defumed EFURTHIN' like twice! 'n No flee's since. Foggin' was best in dis instance. Purrs it's all taken care of now!!
