As you may know...we are from Northeastern PA. We border the Pocono Mountains. We usually have lots of snow (from October till April). Our school kids had 7 or 8 snow days to make up and just finished school this week. Our summers are usually pretty mild, with temps mostly in the high 70's to low 80's. Sometimes in July or August we may hit a day or two in the 90's. As local cats, I think we have adapted to our climate. We love to snuggle and be cozy in the winter and we enjoy the days in summer when we can sit on the windowsills and enjoy the fresh breeze.
But come on weatherguy...what's up with this 90 degree stuff????? It is much too soon! Last Friday it was in the 50's and Mom was wearing a hoodie...now she is in flip-flops!
It seems we all mind the heat very much. Mom worries about me the most because of my heart...but I take it easy. The little girls have so much floof on their bellies...they look like tiny ladies in oversize fur coats. Mrs Murph even left her room over night to sleep in the hallway (it was cooler out there). We were so tired from the heat, we didn't even tease her once!
So what do we do here to beat the heat? We don't have AC (we would probably only use it 5 days a year at most). Mom puts ice cubes in our water bowls (we all love to drink water and the cubes just add to the fun!) We snooze on the linoleum or the hardwood floors (carpet is just too warm!) Skittles took a swim today in the bathroom sink. She was curled up in it, Mom turned on the water and Skittles took a luxurious bath (I swear I heard her say "Ahhhh") Mom wets a washrag and will cool our paws, face and ears. (So refreshing!) She sometimes even wets our brushes and will give us a nice cool belly brush. Mom puts toys in the tub and some water and we splash around or just lie in the tub because it is nice and cool.

How about you guys? I know many of you enjoy the heat. If I could; I would send you some! But the rest of you...how do you keep cool?

Yo Poconos! Christmas City, PA here. (and the weather is gross)
Last week the down alternative blanket was back on the bed... This week, it's been 3 days so far of above 90F temperatures. Hope you're keeping cool. I stretch out on the coffee table. (The wood seems cool, at first at least) We get ice added to our drinking water. We get brushed and rubbed down with a damp washcloth.

yesterday was in the 90s here. today was in the 50s. mom turns on the ac. also she takes a washrag and runs under some cool water and wipes down our backs with it.

Yep...your weather is a little warmer than ours...but I think you had a worse winter this year than we did. We missed a couple of those big storms. My little sis, Roni was all spread out on the coffee table today too. Must feel cool.

MOL we are Texas cats and we love our A/C! Mom keeps the temp at 74 or lower all day and outside it is sometimes in the the triple digits, we go out anyway on the balcony and the patio (it is enclosed) then we come in and drop onto the wood floor. MOL BooBoo kinda drags herself into the house and drops in the door way. Silly cat mom or dad usually has to make her come in. Our bigger concern now is that we have not had rain in so long I don't think the younger cats memeber what that is even like.

You poor Yankee cats!!! Your learning what it's like for us southerners. It would be so weird not to turn your ac on but 5 days out of the summer. If you live here and have ac it will be running all summer long. We keep ours on 72 during the wake hours and 69 at night.

So, my precious Skit took a cold bath huh? Cool.

I don't think this weather pattern won't be all summer but unfortunately I believe you guys are just going to have to get used to it for the time being.

OMC!! It was hot here an da A/C wasn' workin. We was doin NUFFIN! Jus' lyin' 'round all sprawled out. When da sun goed 'way an is not dark yet, we goed ou'side an lay ona cool grass. I efun putted my paw in lil Bear's fwimmin pool.

**NOTE**
I swear Ingen and all her 7 lbs. could have covered a 3' x 5' area rug. I was amazed at how far and wide these poor kitties could spread, in an effort to get cool.

Keep cool? What kind of crazy talk is that? I never keep cool! I lounge in the sun on the hottest days of the year! A Moe Moe must always be warm, she can never be warm enough! hehehe!

The heat can be tough with no A/C! I'm from Texas and it usually can get up the 110s during August and stuff, but we've always got A/C on. Hope you can keep cool!

Simone, if your mama or pawpa ever get arthritis, you will make an excellent heating pad!!!
I agree with everything that Zach said, we even set our a/c at the same temps. I am an airconditioned girl, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Luckily, that's the way mom is too!!
She's had some summers without it, and never wants to do that again! I think we'd melt if the power went off from all these storms!! In the winter, we always think we should move south, but then summer comes! The weather is crazy everywhere, though, so efurbuddy hang in there!!! Luv, Tink

It was hot here too however it feels like it is in the 60s here today! The weather has been Crazy! How about a fan? Do you have one? I Love ours! Mom has been trying to take a video of me with it to show all of you because I almost look like I'm enjoying it a little too much! MOL Anyways this is about you... I hope your weather gets back to normal and I hope you're not chilly today like us?!!! MOL
