Loud noises; stinky, clumsy, nosey dogs; baths, being crated

Up high and/or near a window, on the heat vent in the winter, on laps. Oh oh oh! Especially if I can lay in the sun.

Favorite Food:
I like dry food in my old age. I really like Fresh Greens treats, I'll act stupid to get one of those. Though, not as stupid as my crazy brother Mack.

Arrival Story:
Mavis and Mack were adopted in late January, 1997, from ADOPT in Naperville, shortly after our lab Tippy died. We got M&M right after they had been declawed in the front, and neutered. We would NOT have had them declawed, but it was already done. They were very shy at first, and Mavis is still shy around strangers

A lot of stuff has happened this year

It has been an eventful year. Back in January, a senior Boxer girl name Twinkie came into the household. She was a foster... but she got adopted in June so she's a permanent dog here now. She leaves me alone, I leave her alone mostly. Also in June, Reggie the black Lab boy came back when the man and dogs went to IL for a visit. He is also a foster, though he may someday be a permanent dog here too. I knew him from before when I lived in IL. He barks loudly when he sees someone outside or god help us if the doorbell rings, sometimes he scares the poop out of me. But other than that he leaves me alone too.

Mack and I turned 17 at the end of July. We were about six months old when the Man and his then wife adopted us from ADOPT in Naperville IL in late January of 1997, after their dog Tippy had passed on. Shortly afterwards, a black Lab pup named Lucy came into the house. But Lucy left when the woman and man divorced, and we stayed with the man. Now we have the dogs here; Maggio, Thunder, Twinkie and Reggie, and Davey Dog and Teddy Bear, our dog brothers over in IL.

Finally, both Mack and I had gotten sick. Mack was further along, and he went to the Bridge on August 12. That same day, I was at the Vet for an exam and blood work. A couple days later, I was put on k/d food for my kidneys, and started getting subcutaneous fluids, which means a needle and saline fluid injected under my skin. I'm not crazy about that, but the Man and I have worked out so far. It does seem to be making me feel better, and I am putting on weight. I go back to the Vet next week to see how its going.

Enough for now. I have some Mack stories and some of my own to tell, but time for some cuddling and sleep. Big purrs to everyone,

Mavis the purr cat.
