Arrival Story:
Piper was adopted by us in 2004; she had been placed in a no-kill shelter because her owner was expecting a baby and was "afraid of infections"(!!) We already had two cats at that point - one from the same shelter - but what attracted us to Piper (or Snowy as she was called then) was her beautiful white coat and her two different colored eyes.

We went over to Piper's cage, wondering if she'd come out, and we opened the door and she popped right onto my shoulder, purring madly. The shelter caretakers were quite surprised - this little white cat had already bitten two whole families, and they weren't quite sure she would ever get adopted out. She rode home with us that day and I'm certain has never looked back. A final update - after eight wonderful years in our household, Piper has passed away. Pancreatic cancer - rare in cats, but equally as deadly as in humans - claimed her on August 17th. The last few weeks were both painful and precious. She will always be a part of us, and always missed. We have had her cremated and will spread her ashes in her favorite part of the back yard, so she will forever be in a favorite place.
