Swearing in day!

As many of you know, my beloved brother, Mouse, left for heaven last Friday. I sure do miss him. I know Mouse wanted me to be in charge of all the cats after he left.

My family is now in my capable paws, as I took office today. The first thing I did was get some new laws passed. For example, now that Mouse is gone, do we really need a litterbox in every room on every floor? I think not. I am consolidating and moving the litter stations to the basement and the first floor only. Once the porch is repaired and reopened, we will have litter there too.

My constituents wanted to know how I planned to get us all in and out of the basement. After all, Mommy and Daddy keep that door closed. Good question! I really have some smart kitties at my house. I pointed out that the basement door was always closed to prevent Mouse from going into the basement. The stairs have no traction, and we always worried he would fall or get stuck. You know old folks are with breaking their hips and such. But we youngsters have no problem with stairs! So now the door can be open.

I really have to say that problem solving is very hard work. My next problem to solve is fitness. We have two obese kitties. One of them (Cas) ate all the food offered to Mouse (after Mouse rejected it) and is now an ottoman with paws. More stairs and less food should slim him down!

I wonder what else I should put on the agenda. I will think about it after my nap.

My political future in jeopardy

Remember when I got loose and Daddy cut his leg trying to catch me? I was worried that it would hurt my political career. Well, now I am even more worried! Daddy's wound got infected with some very icky things. It's not healing properly, and I wonder if it's my fault he got hurt? I feel really bad. I love my daddy and did not mean to get out.

To make matters worse, I keep worrying that I might need to take office soon. Mouse has been having tummy troubles. Could you send some purrs to my daddy for his leg and to Mouse for his tummy? I am not ready to take office yet! I still have so much to learn from Mouse before I can be in charge around here.

I have a record!

The other night I got something bad added to my permanent record! Daddy let us all on the screened in porch when he got home. Somehow I got outside through the screen. I was scared and immediately tried to get back inside. I cried and cried but no one heard me except our crazy nozy neighbor, Cindy. She came over to let Daddy know I wanted to come back inside. Trouble is, I am scared of people I don't know, so her coming over forced me to run.

Daddy insisted all us cats were safely inside, but after checking again, he realized I was gone. He looked and looked for me. I could hear him calling me, but I was too scared to come out. Mommy came home from the gym and I heard her call me.

Next thing I knew, a big light was shining on me. Mommy was holding the light and telling Daddy she found me inside the window well of the basement.

Next Mommy and Daddy talked about how to get me out. Why doesn't one of you just pick me up...I wondered. Finally, Mommy told Daddy to carefully pick me up and bring me inside.

Once Daddy put me inside, I could not figure out why they were still freaking out. Well, it turned out that when Daddy was getting me out, he had an accident. He slipped and fell and hit his leg against the cement around the window. The impact cut his shin open to the bone.

So instead of celebrating my return, Mommy and Daddy left for the hospital. Daddy got his leg sewn back together by a people doctor. Mommy said this was going on my permanent record! I hope that is not serious, but it is my second offense. I am still planning to run for president of our family when Mouse steps down.

I hope this does not cost me the election. I have been in secret meetings with my campaign manager (Butters) to figure out how to do damage control, but Mommy is pretty upset, and Kiki is not speaking to me since Daddy is HERS, and he got hurt because of me.

Cas keeps rubbing his germy, fat body all over Daddy's shin. Good thing it's covered! I am keeping a low profile until this blows over!
