Arrival Story:
Akara was rescued with Jenga, who was living with her in a tiny cage for three of the five years Akara was there. She was overbred and improperly cared for. Although she produced many beautiful cats for her then mostly unknown breed, she wasn't kept healthy. She had an upper respiratory infection that still lingers to this day, and she was suffering internally from her reproductive organs being infected.

Bio:
It took the cats about two months to adjust to being housecats. After they caught on to how nice it was, they became extremely social and active. In 2001, we moved to our present home, and they have been able to go outside. They love being able to be outdoors in the sunshine. Akara looks like such a wild cat, with her spots, as she stalks the docks and glows in the sun. Akara likes water and will play in it. She has gotten into the shower with me on occasion and doesn't get too flustered if she accidently falls into the cove when jumping onto a boat. She enjoys following me around like a dog when I am working outside, and frequently checks in to see that things are going okay! She snores when she sleeps, so she's easy to find :)
