Arrival Story: Menes or (Mimi) is my name. Sometimes I get mixed up on who I really am. All I know is that I was wandering around in a parking lot and found a nice warm car to stand by. A man came out and moved me to the grass. Well I wasn't taking no for an answer. I wasn't dumb. I saw the door he came out of and waited there until he came home. Still he just moved me aside and went in for the night. Well knowing 3 times is a charm, and knowing where his backdoor was, I waited for him in the morning. I looked cute, sleek and exotic, so he took me in. For some reason he moved from there for a few years and took me to live with him at his Mom's house, who doted on me, and called me Pharoah because I had 'Mau' characterics. I found I had 2 cat sisters and one Cocker Spaniel sister. THen about 6 monthes later, Pretty Girl came to live with us. She and I loved to chase each other and play. I am fast, no one can catch me. They thought I was a Mimi until my operation and found out I am a Menes, but My Dad still calls me Mimi. Is it any wonder I am mixed up. Because I have whistles, kazoo sounds, chortles and imitate people, they think I am really exotic. I look somewhat like a Mau but am over 2 feet long now from head to where my tail joins my body. Copying humans, such as painting walls, opening/closing doors and playing piano are some of my favorites, and because of this I am Pharoah of my households. Now living with the in-laws, they tried to bring in a kitten who thought I was its mother. I let it know in no uncertain terms, that I am a pharoah. And that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

The Last Forum I Posted In: Who's Your Daddy?
Last Thursday was scarey for me, even though I am known as 'The Pharoah'. My Dad called Grandmeow who lives in Fredericksburg, 35 minutes away and told her he was so sick and needed to be taken to the hospital. He was in such pain, he couldn't drive.
He left with Grandmeow and I waited inside by the back sliding door until I heard the car come back. I raced through the living room to the front door, where Dad and Grandmeow entered. I overheard them talking that they were glad after the tests and there was nothing so serious that couldn't be treated with antibiotics.
You can imagine how relieved I was. I jumped onto my kitchen chair. You know, the one I sit on while the family eats their meals? I have my own place mat with my own food and water bowls. I am part of the family. After that, I jumped on Grandmeow, nearly knocking her over. Dad was upset. You see I am over 15 pounds now and over 2 feet long, not including the length of my long tail. My feet are almost as big as Grandmeow's hands.
I know how much she loves me. Dad and I lived with her for a few years and she played ball with me, played piano with me, and taught me how to wash my face in the sink like she does-with 2 paws. During our stay, I watched Grandpa paint the hall awhile and tried to help him. Needless to say, he was not happy painting over my footprints and Grandmeow had to wash my foot. Oh, those were the days!!!!!!!!!!!
OK... no more reminiscing. I looked for a ball to play with Grandmeow, but found a pencil instead. At least five times I tried to pick it up, like I have seen Dad do, and give it to Grandmeow, but I kept dropping it. I guess my paw is too big.
Everytime Grandmeow talked, I turned my head from side to side to listen, wagged my long tail then curled it over my back, and chortled a tune. This made Grandmeow smile and pet me. When she did, I kissed her, rubbed up against her arm and then I wanted to 'play attack' her arm, but Dad said 'don't do that to Grandma.'
I showed Grandmeow how much Dad and I like to play hide and seek. I can find him every time. And I showed Grandmeow I still could run faster than Dad. She clapped for me, kissed and petted me, then gave me some kitty treats. A few minutes later she sadly said she had to get home, the traffic would be terrible.
She kissed me, gave me a last pet and after telling me she would see me in a few weeks for a vet appointment, walked out the door.
Can't say I am happy about the thought of a vet visit, but I miss Grandmeow and was so happy to see her that day when she came for a visit.
