Arrival Story: For the past several years I have had Hyperthyroidism and have taken medication. I have gotten along great until Saturday night. I decided to run around the house, to the basement apartment to see what was going on with the construction, to upstairs to find Bastet. Saturday night I felt very strange. By Sunday morning, I could not move my back legs. Since the foyer Christmas Tree was still up, I decided to lay under there. I have always like to lay under there because the lights are warm. Meowmy brought water to me in a bowl and I did eat some egg yolk, a treat for me.
Meowmy carried me upstairs to bed and I went under the bed. Bastet joined me and laid by my side until Meowmy got out of the shower. I had a major stroke during the night as Meowmy heard me and put me in her bed. I was happy to be in Meowmy's arms. I tried to purr, but was so weak just a shallow purr came out. Bastet visited me again and touched my nose as did Pretty Girl. She remained on the foot of the bed watching me for several hours.
Meowmy stayed awake from 11 that night petting my head, holding my paw, singing and talking to me. Finally we went back to sleep around 5 until the alarm went off at 6. When I heard Meowmy and Dad's voices the only thing I could do is wag my tail. Dad sat with us a few minutes and he talked to me about missing my 'wake up call' this morning.
Today is Jan. 6, 2014. I saw Meowmy crying hard as she wrapped me in my blanket. I heard the vet say I 3.5 pounds. Meomwy was besides herself with grief and could barely breath. They had taken me back to put the catheter in. Upon my return, I touched Meowmy's cheek to let her know that it was alright. And to thank you for the life she gave me.
The next thing I knew I was asleep. When I woke up I felt like a kitten and there were so many furrends there with me along with my sisfur MIss Kitty and my dog sisfur and brofur Heide and Punkin.
I told Dad if he hears the wind in the morning, it is me waking him up. Dad was crying a bit too even though he was hiding it well, and Marc, their son, the one who rescued me, was crying also. I told Meowmy that when she hears the bagpipes, know I am beside her listening as well.
Meowmy and Dad, don't feel sad, but celebrate my life and the fun we had together. Marc, if you hadn't rescued me, a tiny kitten, at the illegal dump site, I would have frozen to death in the terrible ice storm that came the next day.
One day I will see you all again and we will play like we used to.
Thank you Meowmy, Dad, and Marc for my good life.
Thank you for being such good furrends to me the past 5 years I have been on Catster. We have laughed, cried, went on C&D world cruises, and attended many weddings. I played golf and bowling at Tigger's Arcade and made many furrends.
Since it is Sunday and the vet is not open, I will be going to the bridge tomorrow as during the night I took a turn for the worse. I woke up this morning with my back legs paralized, not wanting to eat or drink at all. Meowmy coaxed me to eat with my favorite soft boiled egg, so I ate a little. I am now sleeping under the foyer Christmas tree, my favorite place to lay, that is for the month or so it is up.
Meowmy has been with me on the floor for awhile and is crying. Dad is sad and says one of the things he will miss is the sound of my alarm waking him up at 7:00; if he isn't awake. Bastet walks by to check on me as does Pretty Girl. This is hard on Meomwy. She has left my side only because I asked her to type this to everyfur.
Meowmy says one day she will be there at the bridge and we will all come running to her. I know that makes her sad, but she is trying to make me feel better. She told me she would be with me tomorrow and not leave me. I love her and believe her even though that will upset her and she may not be able to go to school. I know Miss Kitty will be at the bridge to help me across along with Heidi and Punkin, my Cocker Spaniel sisfur and brofur.
I will ride down the rainbow with Miss Kitty and see Meowmy and Dad. I will still be by the door when Meowmy comes home from school. If Dad listens close enough, he will still hear my voice telling him to wake up. If Bastet watches closely, I will still bat the puffy ball back to her. And Pretty Girl will still have me next to her during the day on Meowmy's bed. Meowmy, I loved the bagpipes. When you hear the bagpipes, I will be listening too. I will be right beside you, rubbing your leg as you listen.
I am tired now and am going back under my tree. I will be watching all of you. Good-bye for now: my wonderfurl furrends.
All summer we have had construction going on around the house. Strangers have been all around, inside and outside of the house since June, nearly every day. We had 2 patios put in, a deck is being screened in, and now there is more noise than I have ever heard. This morning Meomwy told us Giant Squirrels were coming on top of the roof, and not to be afraid. The noise is deafening, and what I saw just run up the roof was no Giant Squirrel. Not unless they lost their fur, tails and two legs. Looked like humans to me. And there are lots of them. Now there is a tremendous tall thing, tall as some of our trees, pulling up in our drive. With it a huge flat truck carrying long pieces of something that looks like it will be put on the roof. I have to stay on alert since my silly sisfurs Bastet and Pretty Girl are in hiding. Someone has to be brave. Giant Squirrels. Who does Meomwy think we are?!!!!
Around 2AM this morning I went upstairs and woke Meomwy up. I was so happy she stayed up with me because I was so sick. My sisters Pretty Girl and Bastet did as well. It was the sickess I have ever been and tonight I finally was able to get enough strength to type this message to everyfur. For a few hours, I was sick to my stomach, had diarreah and wet on the carpet. Meowmy was so worried and stayed by me, cleaning up after I finally settled down and went to sleep.
Only one other time was I sick, not as bad, but nearly and I recovered quite quickly. That was the end of April this year. I was do for my annual vet check up, and Meowmy mentioned to the vet about my sickness. The vet decided to run tests but the only thing they found was that I had Hyper Thyroidism and gave me medication. Twice a day Meowmy has to rub the inside of my ear with this cream. It doesn't hurt, but I don't want Meowmy rubbing cream on the inside of my ear, so I make a big fuss.
Tomorrow morning I will be taking a trip to the vet to see what caused me to get sick. Meowmy and Dad are so worried about me. My sister Pretty Girl stayed with me while I have been recovering. By this I mean I have been hiding under one of the beds most of the day. All day she has been laying on top of the bed looking stern with her 'tortie' glare at anyone who enters the bedroom.
Meowmy is staying in the small bed tonight and she told me to get her up if I need her. With my voice as loud as any bagpipe, I most surely will.
Pretty Girl will let everyfur know what the vet says. She has decided to look after me whether I want her to or not.
