He knew and would obey commands normally taught to a dog, i.e., like 'Stay' ...'Come on' ...'No' ...and with the command 'Stay', it could be used anywhere, he would stop in his tracks and wait (several minutes if necessary) for approval to move on

Arrival Story:
We believe 'Sugar' was turned over to the Humane Society by a relative of his deceased owner. Sugar was immediately attached to my wife and didn't want to leave her arms or side, especially in the first few days. He was such a great loss for my wife on his passing.

When we got 'Sugar', it was quite evident he had been well trained and further believe he had been a show cat in his younger years. He knew his place in the house, knowing what he was and was not allowed to do or where to go. His nature was always friendly. In March 2001, he was diagnosed with an approximate 75% kidney failure. We kept him alive and as active as ever with a daily injection of lactated ringer and an oral dose of potassium. This was done for 15 months without missing a day. Sugar came to expect his medications, accepting it with little to no hesitation. In June of 2002, his medical condition went to the worse over a 3 day period whereas a hard decision was made to have him put to sleep. He is buried in the side of our back yard. A memorial stone that is placed above reads, "Sugar - A Perfect Gentleman" along with the dates, October 1993 - June 2002. We would love to have another Turkish Angora just like Sugar ...and where may he or she be found?? We are looking to this day!

Forums Motto:
A Perfect Gentleman

We speculate the previous owner (deceased) put Sugar through extensive training as many commands he knows are those taught to a dog. It is also believed that Sugar was a show cat in his early years.
