BC, Big Cat, the earthquake cat

Sun Sign:
Black and White

Arrival Story:
Following the 1994 Northridge earthquake, my husband and I noticed this handsome tuxie hanging around the parking lot. I put out some kibble and water and one thing led to another. He began following me into the building and then appearing at our front door every morning. It was just a short time before he began coming indoors because it was cold and rainy. From there he moved into our hearts. Of course there was that one little visit to the "kitty spa" for a small operation . . . We called him Sam because he had the sort of "don't give me any nonsense" look of the Sam Adams Beer guy.

We also called him the earthquake cat, not because he was big and heavy but we think he must have run from home during the '94 quake and couldn't find his way back. From day one his indoor manners were perfect: No jumping on sinks or food prep surfaces. He was dignified, never a playful cat, and if he decided to spend time on your lap, it was a memorable occasion as he usually preferred to sit pressed against a leg or hip. He was a mighty warrior, prepared to defend his home from all intruders, and had a ferocious war cry. In the end, however, age and cancer called him home three days before Christmas in '08. We miss him still.
