Arrival Story:
Poor Abelard was a twice-reject, having been adopted once from the humane society but returned when he was too aggressive toward his first owners' original cat. When he moved in with me the Saturday after Thanksgiving 1995, along with Heloise, he had been at the humane society for almost a year. He had a crabby disposition and yet was strangely affectionate, always wanting to drape all 18 pounds of himself on my lap and snuggle at night. His previous owners had him declawed, and he compensated by biting, but at least he always purred when he bit me.
