Hai everyone.

I know it has been a long time since I wrote a blogs post. My Mommy is currently attending the South by Southwest (SXSW) interactive conference in Austin, Texas, on my behalf. In one of her sessions ("Why Keep Bloggsing), she learned that many famous bloggsers have periods where their own blogs go unattended as they work on other projects. I assume this is what has happened to me.

Unfortunately, Mommy has not run across Meg, my hero, yet. There are only two days left in the conference, so I really hope she finds her soon.

Once she is fully returned, I will write a series of posts on all the important things that we learned there and how they relate to kitteh and, possibly, the MTA. So return soon!!

Oh, hai. You just caught me writing my blogs. I wanted to tell you about my new doctorb, who is much better than my old doctorb. For one thing, she did not stick me with any pointy things. For another, she said that I had hit the genetic lottery!! I wonder if the prize is sent in a lump sum or if it is in weekly installments.

My Mommy is telling me now that what she meant was that my teeth have no tartar on them, even though I am almost 7. This is also good, I suppose, but not as good as a cash prize.

My new doctorb is at the Kingstowne Kitteh Clinic and they only serve cats, because we are awesome. It's a little farther away than my old doctorb, but I think it is worth it to be told that I am beautiful and not overweight (I'm not sure the other doctorbs had seen Maine Coons before).

Puck will be going there himself in a few weeks, although I don't think he will have as good a time as I did as he is getting neutered. Mommy was hoping this would calm him down some, but the doctorb says probably not. Oh well, at least I can still go out on my deck to escape heem.

Today, I am going to write about making the trains run on time. Not the MTA, mind you. My Mommy is convinced that I have some sort of control over when her Blue Line Metro train arrives each morning (Blue cat. Blue Line. You can see the obvious connection.)

While Agador and I were able to convince her that cats have no control over the weather, we were not so successful with train situation. (I think this is because there is also an Orange Line and Agador was orange. However, I would like to point out that there is certainly no Brown and White Line, so either her theory is flawed or Puck is not a cat, both of which options I'm willing to consider.) Now, when the weather gets cold and the Blue Line arrives right as my Daddy is dropping her off at the station, she blames me. It is quite sad.

Daddy has not made this better as he insists that I am working on a logarithm to better align her variable departure time with the arrival of train. However, the truth is, I have not done the maths since my unfortunate re-calculation of the cubit during Agador's ark-building days. But perhaps I've said too much.

Suffice it to say, the MTA is the only train I have any power over and even then, I'm only an appointed official with an entire board of directors to whom I must answer (you see, the MTA receives funding from several jurisdictions, including North Upstairs, The Midlands, the Commonwealth of the South and the United Floors Government).

Perhaps some of my loyal readers can help in convincing her of her mistake....

Hai, loyal readers. I apologize for not having written in so long. There is much a-piggy. Between attempting to teach Puck about the MTA (he seems to have the gripping part down, but not so much the carrying) and watching Mommy and Daddy chase him while he runs around the yard, there has been much to do.

There have also been some exciting developments. First of all, I won the Catster Diary of the Day award for the second time in a single year!! Webby's here I come! I can almost hear Meg squeeing with delight! There has also been a lot of talk about building a bathroom downstairs. While this sounds exciting, Mommy keeps warning me that it will mean more change for me for a little while. And change is not my friend.

My poor Panthers have gone 0-3 to start the season. Agador's Bengals are off to a pretty good start, though, and Puck continues to talk about some team called the Manchester United. What kind of name is that for a footballs team? It's not even a kind of kitten. They must not be very good, because their games are never on the television.

The renovations will start in the next few weeks, so I will keep you up-to-date on how things go.

Puck continues to vex and bemuse me with his kittenish behavior (as I dictate this to Mommy, he is diving under my belly to get at my dinner). We have had to start a sort of Underground Railroad to take the remaining rats to safety.

Mommy says we need to wait until Puck is a little older for them to come out of hiding, lest they suffer the fate of The White Rat (and more recently, the Bay Mouse). Even Fort Pee is not safe. Perhaps one of the rats will write a book about his time in hiding and become very famous. I think it would be nice to be a conductor to a famous bookwriting rat. (Now Mommy is mentioning something about the inventor of a hilarious refrigerator magnet)

Mommy is back home after having been away last night, so that is very exciting. I do not think there is footballs until Sunday (hopefully my beleaguered Panthers will fare better than last week). Other than that, it is business as usual.

****SERVICE ADVISORY****

There will be a brief cessation of service on all lines of the MTA today as we mourn the passing of The White Rat, who was mangled to death by an inexperienced train operator. He is survived by his good friends, The Black Rat, The Black Rat's Cousin (who is also called The Black Rat) and The Brown Rat. We regret any inconvenience.

The White Rat's Elegy
(with apologies to Tichborne)

Your traveling days have stretched out to their end
Your pass and tickets all have been expired,
Where once there rode a rat around the bend
Now only lies a body, broke and mired.
You journeyed far and wide and near and yon'
And now your soul is here, and now its gone.

Your coat is agéd although you are young.
Your tail is ragged 'though your years are few.
You no more shall traverse upon my tongue
Or go from floor to floor as rats must do.
The platform in the sky you step upon
And now your soul is here, and now it's gone.

Hello loyal readers and readerettes. Mommy is pleased to announce that things are going much better between the Puck and I. Puck has full run of the house now and he is only put in his room if Mommy and Daddy are both gone for a long time. I only growl at him now when he touches something that is mine ... like the windowsill or Mommy.

Last night, we watched footballs for the first time this season! It was Mommy's Patriots vs. the Redskins. Puck says rugby is better, but I think he is crazy. He watched the footballs with us and even got up on Mommy's tummy (not that I was any happy about that). I think he is going to be a good brother once he slows down a little.

Life with Puck — Day Four

It was back to work for Mommy and Daddy so Puck I spent most of the day apart. When Mommy got home, she let me out on the deck and (unbeknown to me) let Puck have run of the house for a bit. ... Then I saw him through the glass door on the deck.

So, Mommy let me in and I ran into him around the corner as he was sitting on the Ottoman Empire. This was our first "real" nose-to-nose meeting. He actually stopped bouncing off the walls and looked at me! I kissed his tailio, then there was some "Ears Back" action on both our parts, but no hissing and no growling.

We still spent the night apart, but Mommy thinks that it will be the last night.

So far, Puck has taken a shine to some of the passengers on the MTA (mostly the rats and the recently arrived Bay Mouse and Beach Mouse). I have been dropping off several mice and rats outside his door each night to see if he gets the hang of it. He's a little rough with the passengers, batting them around and chewing on them more than carrying them, but we'll work on it.

I think I am less angry at Mommy. I slept curled up against her legs last night and even purred a little. Perhaps everything will be okay.

Life with Puck — Day Three

Well, I have passed through the stages of denial and fear, and now I am at anger. Mostly at my Mommy.

After two scheduled meetings yesterday (Meeting 1: Robin in carrier, emitting basso growling noises. Me allowed to enter his room and sniff at all his things. One hiss recorded. Meeting 2: Robin allowed out into the hall and master bedroom while I walked around. Meeting adjourned when I began to whine.) I spent the first half of the night begrudgingly sleeping with the woman who did this to me. Moved as far away from her on the bed as possible, eventually ending up on the hope chest. Brought mice to leave for Daddy outside Puck's bedroom door. Came back to visit Mommy and ask for food in the morning, but refused to snorgle.

There was another meeting this morning before Mommy and Daddy left for work. Results were similar to yesterday's meeting #2. However, I have also been sniffing even more at the door and trying to get in, so Mommy is hopeful that I will move on to bargaining and acceptance soon.

Life with Puck — Day Two

Today I am a little sad. Daddy spends a lot of time up in Puck's room with him. Puck even had a special visitor tonight — Agador's good friend Chani. Right now, Daddy is busy filling out Puck's bio on Catster and probably making him a blogs.

Mommy gives me lots of petting and keeps telling me how much she loves me, but I can't help but be sad. I am no longer tiny and helpless. Even Mommy went upstairs to get kissed by Puck (on the lips!!). I worry that my fur isn't as soft and my playing with the feather toy not as cute.

I have gone near the door a couple times. Mostly, I am just trying to ignore him. I had thought that getting a new brother would be about playing and fun, but so far, it has been about closed doors and the sounds of people loving someone other than me.

My grandbud told me to ask my Daddy about being a big brother, so I did. He said it was great and you got to be in charge. But so far, I do not feel like I am in charge of anything. Mommy tells me that it will change soon, and that they have to do things this way and that when I finally meet Puck I will love him so much. I hope so.
