Arrival Story: Trixie was a rescue kitty at TigerLily Cat Rescue in Santa Clarita, which was affiliated with a vet clinic where my sister worked (anyone reading my other kitty profiles will notice a theme here). Trixie was "Ninja" back then, due to her black eye mask and her tendency to swipe and scratch at anyone who tried to pet the beautiful Calico kitty. My sister thought she would never get adopted, so she adopted her (even though she was still not in a position to adopt another cat and had just dropped Trixie's sister Ting at my house a few months earlier). My sister moved in with me a few months after adopting Trixie and when she moved out, we decided Trixie seemed really happy with me and we didn't want to stress her out by moving her (to Colorado).

Bio: Trixie was probably an abused cat at one time. When she was first adopted, she could not be touched. She would constantly scratch, hiss and when she was really mad, huff in a comical way. She walked with her claws out at all times (sometimes getting stuck in the carpet). She also had colitis and asthma and when stressed she would get very sick (which drove the decision to have her stay where she seemed happy). In her last 6 years, she changed so much. She let us pet her for a long time and she became a lap kitty. She always slept right next to me against the pillow and purred very loud. She greeted guests and rubbed up against them. She never let us brush her, and with long fur she would get very matted, so we were forced to humiliate her with a summer lion cut. My sweet Trixie passed away on January 2, 2007. She was diagnosed with oral cancer and it it did not take long for it to take over her mouth and I had to face the hard decision to end her suffering and say goodbye. I miss her so much.
