Arrival Story:
Ting is a very smart kitty who caught the attention of my sister while she was in Thailand assisting a PhD student observing gibbons in the rainforest. She was hanging out with a group of feral kitties, but was emaciated and obviously starving. My sister took pity on her and gave her some fish, which she devoured with gusto. Over the next three months, Ting made herself at home in the students' cabin. When the project was over, my sister did not want to leave her behind to starve, so she figured out how to not only bring her home, but also how to bring her on the plane with her so she could spend the 14-hour flight on her lap instead of cargo. Once she got her home, she talked me into taking her temporarily until her living situation changed as she was not in a position to adopt a second cat. It didn't take long for me to decide my sister would become Ting's auntie and not her mommy.

Bio:
Ting's full name, Boonting, is Thai for "abandoned but now cared for." She also has a bent tail, which we were told was a common mutation in Asian cats. Ting is one of the friendliest kitties you'll ever meet and she greets all guests by laying at their feet with her belly up (hoping for a rub). Ting also does volunteer work; she visits local senior homes and provides company for the residents. She is very good with the assisted living residents and has been an influence in helping at least two residents speak who had not said a word in several months. Lately, Ting has become a very nurturing big sister to her new brother and sister, kittens we bottle fed from birth and can often be found playing with or grooming them.
