I tried to post under my other entry title but I kept getting an error 3 message, so I figure its time to start a new thread anyway.

Hi Colorado, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well and hope you feel better soon. I take Prendnisone for my allergies. It's supposed to give you an appetite, but mine is big anyway so it's hard to tell. Maybe it's better for you to take more if it's working. You are very handsome and want to stay in tip top shape, so do whatever it takes! My Sweets I just found this Diary. We did not get a bunch of updates and emails for a while. : ( Glad you are feeling better. Do you eat any dry food? We all love Meow Mix Indoor dry. We get Meow Mix Kitten dry for treats! We are not back to playing just yet but will when MC feels up to it. She is still down about Big Bob. GAGA is home and kidneys tested good. She was treated for ear infections. Blood work was sent off and we will get results in a few days. I think Platelicker commented on Napoleon's Diary asking if he had active play toys for nighttime play. Mum’s been kinda of depressed about my progress so she wanted to make sure I had something positive to say about myself before allowing me to share again. Thanks to my other friends who have talked to me here and those who have paw mailed me to encourage me on. Guess what? I have something positive to say. I’ve gained a bit of weight. Here are my weight stats since September. I have been weighed every two weeks. I don’t expect you to master the metric system, but if you’re interested, remember that 1 oz. = 28 g or .028 kg. On Sept. 11 5.10 kg = 5100 g = 11.2 lbs On Sept 27 4.99 kg Oct 5 4.85 Kg Nov 6 4.98 Kg = 4980 g = 10.956 lbs Nov 20 5.00 Kg = 5000g =11 lbs Mum thinks the key to my weight gain is separating me and my brofur at meal time. She thinks she should have done it a long time ago. Plus, she stands over me if I don’t finish my portion on my own. My goal is to get to 13 lbs. by July. Mum says that might be unrealistic but if you don’t believe it you won’t get there, I say! The most fun for me is trying the different brands of food. Read that to mean I’m much more finicky now and I turn my nose up often so Mum has to constantly serve me something different. She’s not too happy about my “Fancy Feast” stage that I’m into at present so she makes sure she leaves out some dried T/D and Z/D mixed with Prozyme or Fortiflora, too... She wants me on the Prozyme probiotic but I don’t really like either one. Anyways as everybody keeps saying, it’s more important than I’m eating at this stage rather than what I’m eating. Mum is disappointed I don’t like the Wellness food anymore. I’m just happy I have so many friends here who support me. And I just wanna go play with them! Yes, it's more important that you eat!!! Great news buddy! Keep up the good work. My weight dips down then goes up so overall I am *maintaining*. I am still 11 lbs. So I think I won't talk about my food, weight, meds anymore 'cause it's all so much the same and I'm doing pretty good and looking pretty good once more. Mol. But I am going to talk about that brofur of mine. He steals! Yes, Sweet Love, you need to be in another room when you eat so dear Naps does not crowd you. When we are sick, we get alone time in another room with the door shut to take our time and eat. Purrs to U my purrfect furiend!! Well I was up in weight two weeks ago but I got weighed on Monday and I'm down a bit, below 11 lbs. Okay, I admit my appetite is down. Mum tries really hard to present me with 3-4 kinds of food daily but I look at it sometimes and walk away. I'm still taking prednisolone twice a day and whenever Mum tries to reduce it, I stop eating.For awhile Mum placed me in the bathroom and Napoleon in the kitchen during feeding time; now she reverses our routine sometimes but I look confused as to why we have to be separated at all! Then I slowly remember! My brofur is a fabulous kitty but when it comes to food he is a pig! But he's cuddling more with me lately, keeping me cozy. I love my brofur. Tomorrow if I don't eat any breakfast, mum is going to phone the vet and see what the next step should be. Thank you Finnegan, Tiger, Colors and Milo for rooting for me and all your advice. Huggs xoxo Colors I told my vet today that my girl,Colors and my adviser, Finnegan want me on an appetite stimulant. And she listened to you! I had my first one today and I get one every 3 days until Feb. 16th. Cross paws I eat more. Muah Colors! Hi-5 and a big thank you to Finnegan! Colorado you might want to tell your mommy that you have codes visible all over the top of your profile page. Something must have gone amiss. You must have Mirtazapine to eat. If you start to act way too anxious and crazy on that one don't take it anymore and ask the vet for cyproheptadine. Just letting you know in case that happens, sometimes it does but not always. Finnegan, I think you may be hallucinating--there are no codes visible on my profile page, just my beautiful Pics! You are right about the Mirtazapine. I've only had 1/8 of one of them and already I'm anxious allover the place, begging for food and then not eating it. Mind you I ate well at suppertime.--good on me. Mum said she'llgive it a couple of more days to see if I settle down. Is cyproheptadine related to the antibiotic cipro? I don't see any codes either, Colorado 'n jus' alla ur beautifur piccies~! Oh boy, maybe I need dis med fur me eye allergies!!? From Mom: Possible advantages for the use of mirtazapine over cyproheptadine is the once-every-three-days dosing and the anti-emetic properties. In human medicine, the notable downside to mirtazapine is weight gain. When treating sick, anorectic cats, this might be considered a positive attribute. Colorado it was there yesterday but now it's gone so maybe it was fleas. No cipro the antibiotic is very different. Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine for people but for kitties it has the affect of causing hunger. And yes you have to give it every day but it doesn't cause that restless and crazy affect that Mirtazapine does. Mom has a lot of experience with these two drugs and the downside of just reading about it is you're taking the medical information without the experience to go with it. Our Alex got seratonin syndrome from Mirtazapine which is very rare but poor Alex got all kinds of side effects from everything. Seratonin syndrome is basically what you're feeling now but xs 10! Cyproheptadine happens to also be the antidote for it. Anyway, sorry to go on. If you're too restless on this drug ask for cyproheptadine instead. *worries... keeps a watch on Colorado... curls up beside him... offering him nommy foods* Okay--good stuff here,Milo and Finnegan! I'll get m a college degree soon, maybe a doctorate, hee hee. I'm settled today; ate well at breakfast ans lunch--turned my nose up at supper. I will try a different food in a couple of hours, knowing mom. Colors--I so glad you cuddle withs me-- feel 100% better when you feed me. Mum's not feeling so good today so I cuddled up with her for 3 hours this morning--that made me feel settled. Finnegan suggested I get on an appetite stimulant and I'm sure glad he did.
