Arrival Story:
Snowball the Cat Snowball was a rescue kitten. 2 years ago, Sarah Clifford (me) was asked to provide a white kitten for a movie called "Towelhead" written and directed by (the brilliant) Alan Ball. I adopted Snowball, who was underage, from an L.A. county animal shelter with her sibling. 24 hours after I took her home, she got terribly sick. I rushed her and her sister to the vet and was sent home with med's. Late that night, Snowball's sibling (whom I named Pinky), died in my arms. It was heartbreaking. The next day, I took Snowball back to the vet and demanded more testing. Further tests concluded that my kitten had the pan luc virus, which is equivalent to puppy parvo. She was a very sick baby. I did everything I could do to keep her alive. I took her to film sets with me and held her constantly in a warm blanket, giving her IV fluids every few hours. I was determined to save her. Snowball was a tough little girl and pulled through! Several weeks after this ordeal, when was she was fully healthy, she had her big debut in "Towelhead" where we got special kudos from the director—Snowball nailed her scene every time. She grew up to be a happy and outgoing kitten. After a month or so I even discovered she was stone cold deaf - which made no difference in her behavior except perhaps made her oblivious to "scary" noises. Snowball did several print shoots, a few student films and a small bit parts here and there. She seems to always enjoy the attention on set. Most recently she did her first commercial, "The Chase". She had so much fun on set and everyone seemed to be impressed how brave she was. Today, Snowball is a 2 year old very healthy and happy cat who shares her home with two other feline rescues and several canine siblings. Her "tail" is a classic rags to riches story. Each year MILLIONS of kittens and adult cats are born and THOUSANDS are euthanized at shelters. I can't imagine a world without the sweetness of Snowball in it. If more people spayed and neutered their cats, more cats like Snowball would have a chance at getting adopted. Please consider adopting a shelter cat or kitten this year before going to a breeder or pet store. URL:
