Where were you when the lights went out 9/8/2011

OK California & Arizona friends where were you yesterday 9/8/2011 when the lights went out! That's right at 3:30pm yesterday Mom & all of us were resting and all of a sudden power went out...oh no, now what! we waited and waited for the power to come back on, but it didn't..it was so hot and humid in our house, no air, no fans, no lights...but of course us cats have no problems with that we see everything....

Mom and Dad were listening to the battery operated radio to see what was going on and low & behold all of Southern California from Orange county to Baja, some of Mexico and even Yuma Arizona went dark...MOL

What a mess with everyone trying to get home, luckily Mom and Dad both were home so they didn't have to be out in the major traffic jam and traffic jam it was....people were trying to get home for hours, some ran out of gas and were stuck on the roads...it was a mess....this morning gas stations cars were lined up to get gas, something Mom hasn't seen since the 70's

Now this all happened because one person did something wrong in Arizona and it caused a ripple affect...we know this isn't as bad as hurricanes, floods and fires, but it sure was bad enough and my pawrents were saying how easy it would be for a terrorist to do this to the hole country and how powerless we all would be...not a good feeling....

It was so hard for Mom and Dad to sleep...back windows were open but no relief at all till finally after 10 hours the electricity came back on...

About 1.4 million were affected by this, thousands of $$$ lost because all businesses were closed and loss of food having to be thrown out...no flights leaving cause they couldn't check people...most businesses are open, schools & collages are not open, some traffic lights work and others don't so Mom had to be careful when she was out today....but most is back to normal!

It was a weird feeling, some people were partying out in the streets, dogs barking and total darkness...but none of us cats were affected by it, except we wanted our food....

So now we wonder do you think their will be a big baby & kitty boom cause the lights went out in Southern California...we hope not!

We were home when the lights went out...thank goodness!

oh no!!! We lives in SoCAl, but were lucky that we missed the power outtage! It has been sooooooo hott that we is laying in front of the fans! I am glad you stayed safe!

We heard about that Xena, what a nightmare, especially when it's so hot out. I'm glad you guys are all okay and that Mom and Dad were home at the time.

We were thinking about you and your family and are happy to hear that you are all okay. That must have been pretty scary for you all. Glad everyone was home at the time too! Sure hope there isn't a kittie boom in the near future!

Yeah we were happy too that Mom and Dad were home, it would have been a awful if either got caught in that traffic....

I slept through some of is behind the TV, Mom had to get me to come out for dinner....but none of us ate much cause it was too hot...

It was scary we kept hearing the doggie next door bark and bark for a long time, that always has our ears perked and fur up....he is a big doggies too.....

We never wants to go through that again, but it sure had Mom and Dad thinking about diasater preparedness for us just in case, and it was scary too that one person could do this and how it affected so many...

We sure don't need a kitty boom!

Thanks for thinking of us and we were all OK....the only one Mom was worried about was Tu Two cause she couldn't find her for a while and she wanted to make sure she didn't get out in the dark...me and Zeke know better, she is still too little to know better but she is learning.

You are lucky Kitty Pryde that you didn't lose your electricty, it was too hot to lose it and boy was Mom and Dad miserable. Mom was wetting her hair in the tub and had a wash cloth around her neck trying to sleep...

We are so happy the power is on, it makes one realize how much we rely on our electricity....

I am glad to hear that you are all ok....thank god for fans..... 10 hours without electricity is a long time..... what a nightmare for people traveling and businesses......

Oh, boy...so glad that you are OK.

We have a generator that comes on 30 seconds after a power out, so the only thing we can't do then is have ac, but at least we can run a fan...
Yup we sure are furry dependent on that electrical stuff...hard to imagine that peeps lived without any, all those years ago!
