Arrival Story:
2.1.09 - Amie began having seizures this morning after making a partial recovery. She was put down around 10 am. I was unable to keep Shiori because I lost my apartment, and for a while was just kind of floating through various living situations. It was very difficult, but in the end I wound up being rescued myself by my stepmom who kindly took me in. She had a dog named Roxie, and a mild allergy to cats, so it wasn't until it came up in a random conversation almost a year later that she said she'd be okay with a cat so long as Roxie could get along with him/her. She later surprised me by saying she would be getting me a cat of my choice for my birthday. I scouted Lane Community Animal Shelter's site and found a beautiful black cat named Ireland, but sadly when I went to see her she was quite skittish and didn't take to me at all. While walking the cages, though, this little tabby kept pawing at me and meowing. When I took her out, she curled right up on my chest and began purring. It was then that I fell in love with Amie (spelled Amy by the shelter) and decided she was the one I wanted to take home.

Bio:
Amie is partially blind, from an infection or possibly injury, and was rescued back in December. Her infection cleared up but it left her with only half to 1/3rd of her vision. Her pupils don't dilate, and there's a slight cloudiness. Despite this she's very loving and loves to be held and scratched, and has few problems getting around her new home. She's also completely not interested in Roxie, while Roxie is both fascinated by her and some what scared of this little living fuzzball that's invaded our home. I chose to change the spelling of her name because, while I did like her name, I have a particular love for that variation of it because of a Damien Rice song called "Amie".
