Mellow, Grumpy Pants, Purr Box

Quick Bio:

Coloration:
Orange

Likes:
Lounging on the couch in a ray of sunshine.

Pet-Peeves:
Sniffy dogs. He boxes them on the snout when they get too pushy.

Favorite Toy:
Shoe lace.

Favorite Nap Spot:
There is a "secret" feline hideout located above one of my closets. The top foot of the closet is blocked off and there are holes in 3 of the sides. The cats use floor to ceiling scratching posts to climb up there. Mellow loves to lounge in there.

Favorite Food:
Pill Pockets. Actually any cat treats, and of course he always tries to help himself to whatever I'm eating.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
Mellow's original Mom had him since he was young. She loved him very much but eventually was no longer able to care for him. He had been living at a veterinary hospital for 6 weeks but his time was running out. I took him for a trial overnight and he fit right in! Now he's my forever kitty. He's also my bed warmer, and often my shadow when he's not sleeping.

Bio:
Mellow's quite a character. He's a big diabetic orangie with a half tail and a grumpy streak. He does demand cuddle time though. He has quite a purr.

For some reason, I don't like brooms. I have to run away whenever mom tries to sweep. I was like this at the vet hospital where I stayed 6 weeks too. Brooms are just scary. And another thing I don't like: Fly swatters! You know how sometimes flies like to come in the house? Mom has a fly swatter handy. Mom thinks it's funny because when I see it, my eyes get all big, then I have to dart off. Sometimes she tries to be sly and sneak it off it's hook so I don't see. But of course it has to come out when the fly is close. Can't she just get it with her "paw" and eat it like us cats like to do??? I see no reason for the fly swatter at all. It's just evil. Maybe I was a fly in a previous life.

Hehehe...

I found a new trick to annoy mom... Sitting on the computer mouse and keyboard! I managed to find a key to press that makes the computer freeze up and go beep-beep-beep-beep...... over and over until she moves me. Hehehe. Sometimes I like to lie on the cord to the mouse. I give mom just enough length that she tries to keep using it but it barely can move it. That lasts a minute or two before she gets annoyed and pulls out more cord from under me. I'm doing it now!

Did you know I like Candy Corn?

I didn't until recently. For a while there, I was ready to eat anything! I was just ravenous constantly! I really drove mom nuts, there were a couple times she had to stand in the center of the room just to finish her food. I demanded that she share, she didn't listen. I even tried to run off with the plastic piece that was the corner of the candy corn bag mom cut off. Then mom did the dreaded blood glucose curve: a glucose test every 2 hours all day! Sure enough, I was diabetic again. I had been off insulin for a couple months, it was nice not getting the shots. At least now I'm not so crazy with hunger, and mom increased my food a bit. For the first time ever, I might be too thin! The return of the diabetes may have had something to do with it. I'm a bit dehydrated too. I frustrate mom and my doctors by always teetering on the edge of being diabetic. 1/2 unit was too much, no insulin wasn't enough... There's no way mom can measure 1/4 unit of insulin. The insulin I'm on can't be diluted either. I just like to be uncooperative in any way I can :) For some reason, mom still loves me.
