Arrival Story:
Gus joined us after our beloved Tiger died from cancer. He and his fellow castaways had been rescued from the side of the road, and at six months old, were ready for their forever home; we were happy to oblige. With time, Gus chose me as his number one human.

Bio:
Gus crossed the Rainbow Bridge on the morning of November 3, 2009, at the age of one and a half. He became lethargic, and began to lose weight, so I took him to the vet. The blood tests indicated that Gus was in kidney failure. Dumbfounded, I took him to the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital, where the doctors explained that he was sick with either congenital kidney disease, lymphoma, or FIP. I had never heard of FIP, and I thought that it was worth doing what I could to keep Gus alive, so I tried to treat the kidney failure by admitting Gus to a 24 hour animal hospital, where he was treated with antibiotics and intravenous fluids for two days. Sadly, in the wee hours of November 3, 2009, within just a few days of his admission to the animal hospital, he went into steep decline from multiple organ failure, and it was time for me to help him to pass quietly. Gus was a great and powerful kitty while he was on this earth: he loved me as his best friend, jumped on my lap when I came home from work, laid on my back or side as I slept, knew when I was happy or sad, and gave me love no matter what. I will always be grateful to Gus for all the love and affection he gave me. God bless you, Gus; I will always love you.
