I'm feeling so much better now!

Dear Friends and Fans of Princess Sugar Pie,

I just wanted to let y'all know that I'm feeling so much better now. Those yearly vaccinations nearly had me walking over to the "Rainbow Bridge" and I'm glad that didn't happen. Yet, I have so much more work to do with my Daddy before we leave this world. On Sunday, he took me out for the first time, in a while, to visit some of my Friends and Fans at the Smoky Mountain Flea Market. It was a good visit and I got to see a lot of my old friends there. On Wednesday, this "Little Cowgirl" went with Daddy and his Brother, Rick, to the Grand Opening of Mountain National Bank at the Old Newport Highway's location. Of course, I wore my "Famous Cowgirl" hat for the occasion. I wear that outfit everywhere. Mr. Clint from Clint's Restaurant was serving hot dogs, cole slaw and baked beans there at the bank. All of the money donated from the meals went to the "Sevier County Humane Society". My adopted Daughter named Gypsy came from the SCHS Little Friends Adoption Agency so the Humane Society is special to me and my Human Family. I am sort of a "Spoks Cat" and occasionally attend the annual SCHS Champaigne Auction. I also put plugs in for some ASPCA Agencies and Feral Cat Societies too. I enjoy helping those organizations out whenever I can.

Before leaving the Bank's Grand Opening, I met many new Friends and Fans there plus saw a lot of old Friends too. I petted a puppy dog and a couple of cute kittens that were up for adoption. I even let one of the kittens play with my Jumbo Toothbrush and Stuffed Basset Puppy that I carry around. I will grab my Basset Puppy and hold him when a Fan hands him to me. I also brush my teeth most every day with my Jumbo Toothbrush. Those are just some of the tricks that I can do. When I got home, I was ready to take my Noon Cat Nap. After I had my nap, my Daddy got the laser light out and played with Gypsy and me. It's good to feel better again. I have so much to do other than be sick! I should be able to visit some of my Healthcare Facilities very soon. Also, I would like to meow "Thank You" again to all of my "Well Wishers" for their love, prayers and zealie gifts. That was so sweet. I've never had so many people and feline friends pulling for me before and it makes me feel needed, loved and so much better. Until next time, Ciao, Meow and bye Yeow.

Love and Purrs,

Princess Sugar Pie

Daddy had to take me back to see Dr. Dennis because of my- allergic reaction!

Dear Friends and Fans of Princess Sugar Pie,

On Tuesday August the 11th, Daddy took me back to see my Veterinarian, Dr. Dennis at his "Animal Clinic". I was still feeling sick to my stomach from my allergic reaction to my recent vaccinations last week. When Dr. Dennis saw me he gave me a shot of "Reglin"to calm my stomach and some "Flagyl" tablets to calm my bowels. When Daddy got me back home, I would not take the tablets at all, so he had to go back to see Dr. Dennis and get me some liquid medicine. It is imperative that I take this medicine to get well. Even though I don't like it's taste very much because it makes me drool and cry, my Daddy will make sure that I take it; like it or not! I really want to get to feeling better because I love my Daddy very much and he along with my family as well as my many adoring friends and fans all want me to get well. I want to thank everyone for their get well wishes too. I'm glad and so happy that I was able to survive this terrible ordeal. Well, I'd better go and take my afternoon nap now! Until next time, Ciao, Meow and bye Yeow!

Love and Purrs,

Princess Sugar Pie

I had an allergic reaction to my vaccinations and almost- died!

Dear Friends and Fans of Princess Sugar Pie,

Around 3:30pm, on Monday August 3rd 2009, my Daddy took me to Dr. Dennis's "Animal Clinic" in Pigeon Forge, to get my yearly vaccinations and everything appeared to be fine! Since I'm a "Registered and Certified Therapy Animal", I'm supposed to get my shots every year. Sometimes a pet can have their shots every 3 years if they have a tendency to have allergic reactions. That is much less stressful on the pet that way. Well, back to my vaccination story. On Tuesday, Daddy noticed that I was feeling a little down in the weather which is a normal way for a cat to feel after they get all of their shots. I have been vaccinated for 6 years with no problems other than feeling sore and a little warm. After we woke up on Wednesday, Daddy noticed that my pads and ears were feeling rather hot. He also noticed that my tongue was very hot to the touch when I would kiss Daddy on his face or hand. Daddy observed that I was not very playful, lost my appetite and wasn't drinking much water. He immediately called the "Animal Clinic" and told them that I was having a severe allergic reaction. Patsy told him to bring me over ASAP which he did. When I got there, I didn't have to wait to be treated. Dr. Lynne saw that I was running a fever of 106.7 degrees which is extremely high for a cat. She immediately started me on an "IV" to "hydrate" me and then gave me a shot of "Rimadyl" to "counterreact my allergic reaction". She told my Daddy that he knew a lot about animals especially cats and praised him for bringing me in promptly for treatment.

I'm so thankful that my Daddy observed me closely after my vaccinations and decided that I needed immediate treatment. All cat owners should watch their cats closely after their cats receive their vaccinations. Cat's noses don't always get feverish like a dogs nose does. A cat's body temperature normally runs 102.5 degrees which seems hot to begin with. A cat owner my not be able to tell much of a difference in the cat's temperature, so look for symptoms such as lathergy, loss of appetite, hot paw pads, ears and hot kisses. If your cat has a severe reaction get prompt medical treatment and don't put that off. Tell the vet to "Pre Treat" your cat next time and spread the vaccinations apart instead of having them all on the same day! Well, I'd better go now! I'm feeling so much better today, thanks to my Human Daddy. He and I love each other so much! I was put on many "Prayer Lists and we want to thank everyone who kept me in their prayers. Daddy says that he and I still have lots of work to do on this earth together. We need to stick around! Daddy and I are so thankful for one another! Thank goodness for that! Better go take my morning nap! Ciao, Meow and bye Yeow!

Love and Purrs,

Princess Sugar Pie
