Arrival Story:
When we bought our house in July, 2006, it needed a lot of TLC to make it habitable. Since we lived right around the corner I'd walk over during the day to work on it. I saw Kitty sleeping on the back steps of the decrepit house directly behind ours. He was there every day. The house was vacant so I assumed he belonged to someone who let him outside and he just liked to nap there, undisturbed. He looked kind of ragged and since I wasn't sure he belonged to anyone, I started bringing a handful of dry cat food with me, which I would leave for him. Every living creature deserves a full belly at least once a day. Then I found out from the neighbor that the woman who lived in the house behind ours used to feed him. She died and her daughter, who had lived there with her, moved out and left him behind. We started putting food out for him so he moved over to our porch, where he now has a Dogloo stuffed with a hooded bed and fleeces in the winter (we also put a heated disc under the bed every night so he stays warm). He loves his house!
Bio:
Kitty has never let us get near him. He makes sure he's several feet away when we go out to feed him, change his bedding, etc. This is an improvement over what he used to do, which was bail over the railing of the porch and run off every time he saw someone. He seems to be a little hard of hearing.
