15 years ago the neighbor girl came to my door with two 3 day old kittens which another neighbor had thrown away in the freezing cold because the mother had been hit by a car. The others had already died but two were still alive. I tried so hard but one crossed the bridge almost at once . The tiny grey and white one lived in my neck and throat, for days to stay warm..I fed her kitten milk replacer from a kitten bottle and kept her warm and on me all the time. She began to thrive and grow. She lived in my hair and on my neck 24/7 and I fed her whenever she wanted . As she grew, she would ride on my shoulder and we called her Bluebird...but the name Jacquelyn stuck. She grew into a lovely cat...with a strange little personality. One of my other cats, a stray who had come several years before and looked just like her so we figured he had also come from that terrible farm, took over teaching her how to be a cat, sort of. He taught her to clean herself and use the litter box and be sort of cat like. She never got really good at washing her face and I have to wash it every day, She has always been a kitten,,,she skampers and plays and chases things like kitten and she is 15. i said to my husband something about her being a cat , a while back , and he laughed and said he never thought of her as being a cat..she is a kitten. And I am her mom. She still sleeps on my pillow and in my neck and my hair purring. She comes in to drink in the sink in the morning. She does yoga with her Dad every morning...she really does. She rolls around and gets herself into funny positions while he does his...every morning. She defers to Simon and marybeth...they rule the cat roost. She is just a delight.
For years, because I was so afraid she would not live and had fed her on demand as a kitten, she was bulimic. She would eat and eat and eat then throw up. She became quite plump and was always eating. She seems to have leveled out some and lost some weight...does not throw up anymore or eat to oblivion. She does love to eat though and has only eaten dry food...though now she will eat the Tiki cat. I think the bulimic thing was an inate fear that she would never see food again.
She loves to go out on the deck and sit in the sun and watch the birds. She has never wanted to really stray from the immediate house area though. She love s to be near people.
