Arrival Story: My first family relinquished me to the SPCA of Dallas when I was a little over a year old. Three days later, the SPCA took me on my first outing to an office building. My mom saw me and started petting me through my cage. I really wanted her to take me home so I was really sweet to her. After a little while of showing her how sweet I was (and after being very scared of a man who was interested in adopting me), my mom adopted me! My name was Lime at the time (I had a sister named Lemon). My mom gave me a middle name "Nevan," which means "little saint" in gaelic and that is the name I go by now. I was so happy to be adopted into my new home -- I have been very happy ever since!

It is official. The invader is not injured. He hasn't even slowed down. It is still war in my territory.
Recently I have begun testing a new strategy -- escape. Whenever the invader goes outside with Mom and Dad to walk (they are so gullible -- Moose acts like he needs to go out all of the time but really he just wants to walk around), I try to dart out of the front door. I have also started darting out of the back door into the garage. But the garage door is always closed so it is proving pretty futile as far as an escape route. BUT there are a lot of boxes, shelves, and hiding places to explore....heaven really...
I digress.
Escape. I did manage to get out one time recently without Mom or Dad noticing but it sure was cold and as soon as they opened the front door to look for me (and they were SO panicked!), I ran in. I do love warmth and the indoors....
Ok ok so maybe escape isn't the best option for me. But the war still rages my friends. Mom and Dad are apparently on the invader's side now. Traitors. They defend Moose every time I swat at him or am mean to him. Humans just don't get it either.
We are in a league of our own my friends.
Meow. and happy weekend.

So....the invader.
As you all know, last week was a great week. A week all to myself. Then -- almost even better -- a night with Mom and Dad, all to myself. And then Moose came back. The invader. I have worked hard at re-establishing my territory, my feline friends. You would be proud. I have swatted, meowed, jumped, and puffed up my tail to show Moose who is boss. Moose really does take direction well. Better than most canines, I would say. Sometimes, just for a second, I feel bad because Moose really seems to get his feelings hurt when I re-establish my territory. But I always have to remind myself, if I let my guard down -- even once -- Moose has won. The invader wins. The canine has defeated the feline.
The invader may be hurt though. Mom and Dad have pretty much ignored me this evening because of some injury that Moose allegedly has. Ha -- we felines are so much tougher -- I mean, we have NINE lives! Canines have one. Yet another example of how we are so far superior to the canines.
I will keep you posted. Maybe I need to ease up on the re-establishment effort....but we all know the saying, you give an inch, they take a mile....
Nevan.

Happy New Year!
Well let me just tell you -- I had a wonderful week. Mom and Dad went out of town. Moose went somewhere (who cares, really?). So I had the whole house to myself. It was fantastic. I could run around, play with my red string, sleep in the sun, talk to birds and squirrels -- all without that canine hanging around. It was quiet and peaceful. Sandy, my friend (and Moose's crush) came over once a day to play with me and feed me. That was nice.
There was one down-side -- the lack of attention. I just didn't get much -- other than Sandy's daily visits. So yesterday when Mom and Dad got home I just talked and talked. I told them all about my week, showed off my red string design in the den, and rubbed up on them and purred a lot. Last night I cuddled all night with Mom. It was great to have them back. I really do like being with Mom and Dad.
Moose came back today. Yes, I know my feline friends -- ugh. Invader in the territory. But it was kind of good to see him. He seems to remember that I am king of the house. And he is a nice canine (as far as canines go).
New Year's resolutions anyone? Mine is to continue to assert my authority and dominance in the house. MEOW!
