FROM OSCAR'S MAMA

My sweet baby Oscar G'Kar was put to sleep at 6.30pm 23rd January 2010. He had been very sick and started going down hill very fast and so I had to do what was right for him but losing him has torn me apart. People keep saying 'get another cat' as if Oscar was a book I'd read then tossed aside and they think I should pick up another one and read it now. Oscar was, and still is, my entire life, he is the only reason I'm still on Planet Earth, and I will love him just as much for the rest of my life. I keep saying Jonathan when I go to speak about him, Jonathan was the kitty I had before Oscar and it appears my subconsious mind can't grasp yet, that he's truly gone. He is going to be cremated and I'll have his ashes with Jonathan's and Frankie's, Frankie died 2 years before Jonathan and when I die I want their ashes placed in the coffin with me. I also have some of Oscar's fur. I started saving some when I was combing him just recently before he got really sick. I pick it up and rub it against my face, I smell it and wish I could smell as good as Oscar could, and I kiss it as my tears fall on it. It too will go with me when I go to meet my babies at the Rainbow Bridge.

Mama did something special for me today. Despite how much it hurt her she had me put to sleep so the pain I had been in would stop. She told Vet, Andrew, she didn't want me to hurt any more. She cried and cried but she said, 'It is better for me to cry than he suffer'. Mama loved me more than life itself but did it for me and I am grateful she allowed me to just fall asleep and I am so pleased because life had become too much for me.

Hey Pals,
Finally Mama has got her compter working properly and now my page is once again her home page. Did you think we got lost? No, but Mama's computer crashed in January and she had to buy a new one AND then that played up but now its all working well. I missed you guys, did you miss me? Hope so!!! Grandfather, that's Mama's Daddy, used to say 'its a poor thing that's not missed' and I think that's true. Well its late over here in Oz so Mama wants to go to bed and I'll catch you all later.

My Fellow Catster Members,
I am deeply saddened tonight to have to report that several bushfires are still raging in Victoria and many animals are being injured and killed even as I write this. I must also report that a fireman was killed by a falling tree and another injured in a seperate incident. We need your prayers my friends, we need them dearly.

My Fellow Catster Members,
We are very sad here in the State of Victoria, in Australia, as we have and still are facing our worst ever natural disaster. Our State has been ravished by bushfires, firestorms of such magnitude that no one could escape. One hundred and eighty one humans have died and over one million of our native animals have been killed in the fires. Many pets also died, especially cats, even when their humans survived their cats did not because they had run and hidden, and their humans had to leave without them. Some did manage to find somewhere a place where they managed to live through the fires but many did not. Many dogs and horses and other pets also perished. Humans are counted but the full loss of animals cannot be counted. Please ask your humans to pray for us and all the humans and animals who have died, and you too Fellow Catster Members, offer your prayers to whoever is your God, and ask that these dreadful fires will be finally extinguished, that the sky will carry rain to drench the soil, so the fires will not burn, and we will try to rebuild our lives, but as we move on, we will not forget, we will never forget, this time of sorrow. But we will do our grieving, as we must, we will remember those who are gone, whether human or animal, and in time the pain will lessen, but we will never forget those we have lost.

Hey Everybody,
We have a new computer and its much better then the old one. I missed not being able to email my brothers who live in the USA but now we can talk again.

We have some bad bushfires over here, though thankfully they're not close to us this time, but its terrible because so many animals get caught in the fires. I'd like to ask everybody on Catster and Dogster to pray for those poor little animals and ask God to protect them.

Hey Everybody,
We have a new computer. It was terrible without a computer because I couldn 't contact my brothers because they live in the USA . Now we can send each other emails again. Its real fancy and Mama even has a special table and chair for it. No way would it have fitted on the old desk. Mama is real happy with the new computer and so am I.

I'd like to ask everyone on Catster and Dogster to pray for those poor little animals and ask God to take care of them and not let them suffer. It makes Mama and me cry to see themon the news and Mama switches it off when they show the hurt possums and wombats and kangaroos and all our other native animals and there are also the cows and sheep and pigs that get caught on farms.

Am so excited everyone as I just heard from my brothers, Gibbs and Cash, that the gifts we sent by airmail all the way to the USA have arrived safely. We, Mama and me, always worry until we know they've arrived. I can''t wait to know how they like the gifts. I wish it was already Christmas so I'd know. I helped Mama make Gibbs and Cash's presents by watching Mama as she knitted them.

Hi Everyone,
I’m just so excited about getting Catster Plus. Mother in America gave it to Mama and me for Christmas. As we live over here in Australia it would have been kind of complicated to arrange it from over here so when Mother asked Mama about Christmas presents Mama said we’d love to have Catster Plus. So you’re not all confused I’ll try to explain why I have both a Mother in the USA and a Mama here in Australia. When Angel Buddie and McKenna went to kitty heaven Mama made me Mother’s kitty too so she wouldn’t be too sad and then I got two new baby brothers and so Mother in the USA shares me with my Mama here in Oz and Mama shares Mother’s babies in the USA. We just all love each other so much. I also have two cousin’s named Burt and Venus and their Mommie is Mother’s sister so it does seem complicated but we all love each other so much and that’s what counts.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Hi Kids,
I know I don’t write often but I just wanted you to know that my Veterinarian sent a letter to Ma to tell her that Cats and Dogs shouldn’t be allowed to eat grapes, sultanas or raisins etc. as they can KILL us both. So you must make sure your humans know about it. Ma emailed Catster and asked them to pass it on to ALL members so hopefully they will do that but I thought I’d put it in my diary.
