Arrival Story:
Annie is a "Furever Foster" cat with Animal Justice League. Annie was at the Nye County animal shelter (NV) with her brother Dimetry and sister Lorili, they were 6 weeks old. There time was up, when I got a call from the shelter asking if I would take them (At the time I was fostering cats for A New Leash on Life rescue) so I went to the shelter and got them out. About two days after I got them Dimetry mysteriously died, It was very sad. Then as motherless kittens often do Lorili and Annie got upper respiratory infections. The vet working with the rescue at the time wanted to euthanize both of them saying that they weren't worth treating because they were not friendly enough. I disagreed and paid for the treatment my self. It took some time but they recovered, however they were left with chronic sinus problems making them unadoptable, so I kept them. Lorili passed away when she was about 4 months old from complications to neurological problems she developed. It was a major blow but veterinary medicine can only do so much. Annie is doing well now and is almost 3 years old, beating the odds all of her vets gave me. She is a quiet little sweetie and loves cuddling with her friends.

Bio:
Annie has crossed the rainbow bridge today and will be deeply missed. I brought her to the vet this morning as she was looking much worse. Dr. Brooks read out Annie's blood work and said that she had bone marrow cancer. It was time to put her to sleep. I will always remember her, and think of Annie when ever I see a little ray of sun beaming through the window or a little bird flying about in the garden. I know that where ever she is she's happy and can feel my love for her.

Somewhere over the rainbow

Today Annie has gone to be with Lorili over the rainbow bridge. Truman has been sitting with her the last couple of days that She has been ill, and today I just knew it was time.

I took her to the vet who said that from looking at her blood work that she had cancer most likely bone marrow cancer. There was nothing more to do than to say good bye.
Truman accompanied her to the vet for support, he rubbed his head against her and cuddled with her for a while before I put him back in his kennel.
Annie was given a sedative. I held her in my arms as it took effect. She looked up at me and the look in her eyes said "I'm ready to go now". After the sedative kicked in she was given the final injection, it was quick and painless and I knew it was the right thing to do. I know that she is somewhere over the rainbow now and looking down on her earthly family. It has been so wonderful having her in my life. I will never forget all the beautiful moments spent with her.
My beloved *Annie *

Today is Annie's 3rd birthday. I don't think I will make her a kitty cake because she still doesn't want to eat and has to be syringe fed. She is looking a little better today but is still in critical condition. I am going to try and make today as fun, happy and memorable as I can for Annie.
Ill be taking lots of pictures and post them later today.
Happy Happy Birthday to by little Annie Bananie!!!!

Update 2/21/09 Annie is hanging in there

Annie is still hanging in there, but I'm very worried about her. Last night and today she has been fighting me less when I give her her medication, and just seems tired. She has that sick look in her eyes, but there has been a little bit of hope.
She peed quite a bit of normal yellow urine with no blood what so ever. And is not staining to urinate any more, I think that has made her much more comfortable.
I gave Annie 50cc of sub Q fluids last night and 100cc earlier tonight. She seemed to have perked up a little after having fluids yesterday and hopefully she will want to eat tonight otherwise I'm going to have to syringe feed her some food tonight.
She is drinking a lot of water which is one of the effects of the prednisone. She is supposed to have increased appetite as well but is not really wanting to eat.
Annie and I just have to take it moment to moment, day to day and hope for the best.

Annie is my little sunshine, my chipper chickadee and has always been there for me. Right now I'm just trying to be there for her and keep her as happy and comfortable as I can.
