indoors Arrival Story: She was born in a house with 20+ cats and at the time my mother was breeding Russian Blues. I remember her mother's pregnancy like it was yesterday. I even remember singing Hush Little Baby to that overgrown basketball of a tummy. She was born in a litter of four with two brothers and a sister. Her mother, Sapphire, was a first time mom, and not a very good mother at that. Before Patience or any of her siblings opened their eyes, her mother decided they should not be allowed to stay in this world. She drown and consumed the other girl and one of the boys. My mother heard a loud yowling from the room. It was Patience. Her remaining brother was still in the process of being drowned and Patience was seeming okay except for a scratched eye. We took them both immediately to the emergency vet. I sang them the Hush Little Baby song on the way there. The following morning the little boy died. There was just too much water in his lungs. Patience was the only survivor. I took her in after that and have cared for her ever since. Bio: She was diagnosed with CRF at 3 and half last March. I was in denial and at the time never saw the reports. I was at school when she was taken to the vet. She never seemed that bad at the time, so I completely forgot she had it. When I went to college later that year my great aunt agreed to care for her, since she wasn't allowed at the dorms. Two months later, she couldn't. For the following three weeks a friend of mine took her and Patience started showing symptoms again. She stayed at the vets with an IV and had a blood test. Where her BUN was at 62 in March, it was now 235. Forums Motto: Happy Go Lucky The Groups I'm In: Blue Bloods, CRF Support Group I've Been On Catster Since:
I will miss her SO much. I feel like a boulder just landed on top of me and I was put through a meat grinder. I don't quite know what to feel. I guess that means I'm numb. It hurts and my precious sweetheart is gone.
I love you girl. You will ALWAYS be in my heart.
Rest in Piece.
This was my trip to SD with Patience. It was very slow, that's for sure. Patience took her sub-Q fluids and meds very well for the most part. She was a bit squirmy, but she's getting better. She feels far more comfortable than she has in a long time. When I finally got to my destination, I went straight for bed and Patience did what she hasn't done in a couple years: she slept with me under the covers! I love her so much, she is an amazing cat. Today she did her best overall with her fluids and meds. She swallowed the pills and didn't spit them out and she didn't squirm as much as she has in the past when I did her fluids. However, she didn't eat as much today.
"Mary reports that Patience was quite sprightly today. She certainly made every attempt to get my dinner and Mary's dinner and especially Rose's dinner -- especially after Rose spilled her milk all over the place.
"I procured 2 more cans of the prescription cat food, and 2 extra needles for the subcutaneous fluids. That ought to last through the journey home and until you can take her to your own veterinarian for further evaluation."
I can't wait to bring her home and spend time with her myself. My friend has been such a great help. I get to see her tomorrow!!!
