Arrival Story: Around Sept. 13, 2007 I called Buddy and Blackie back into the house from the back yard. I heard very loud meows coming from under the deck. I got a small mirror and bent down to see if it was one of the neighbour's cats. "Well, hello there!" I said to the shiny yellow eyes of the cat who was invisible in the darkness. It definitely wasn't one of the neighbour's cats that I knew.
I had to run out and do some shopping, so I got a dish of kibble and put it down on the other side of the deck with a dish of water.
When I got back from shopping, I got some more food and rattled it in the dish. He came out from under the deck and allowed himself to be petted. Oh my, he was very, very THIN! He was front declawed, too!
I went inside and put the flea comb, the large yogurt container, an old towel and a litter box in the upstairs bathroom. I picked up the little waif (he didn't have much strength to struggle) and took him up to the bathroom.
He lay on the towel and let me comb out dozens of fleas. I dipped the comb in the container that I filled with hot water. It was somewhat difficult going as the comb wanted to catch on protruding ribs and other bones. He seemed very tired, but relieved. He was so thin that I could easily feel under his rib cage.
When I was done, I got him settled in the basement. I knew he would want to find a safe place to hide so he could sleep. I wanted him to have access to food and litter boxes.
We didn't have any responses to our found cat ad.

Bio: He is so funny, active, playful and loving! He likes to get up on my lap while I'm at the computer and lay on his back across my arms. He likes to use the wrist rest as a head rest. We think it's awesome that he gets along with Blackie so well. Blackie is larger than Ollie. I think Ollie gets frustrated and makes up for his lack of front claws by being a bit aggressive during play and nipping Blackie sometimes.
