I don't have any news on the kittens, just that Susie is staying in the house more. We have told Gamma she should set out some tuna by the hole where Susie & her babies go, but she won't do it. Her son is visiting and she won't ask him because "he's got too many things to do." :(
Gamma thinks if she puts the bait several feet away, on the sidewalk (not by the hole) the kittens will come out. We aren't so sure. We told her it should be BY THE HOLE Susie crawls in and out of, but we just get the usual "I can't do it myself" and "I'm doing the best I can."
The shelters are still, of course, full, and Gamma doesn't know what to do. Mama says it's such a sad situation, cuz Gamma said the kittens are "so big" so she's wondering if they're around 3 months old? Susie is STILL nursing em, can someone please tell us how long she will nurse? And is there hope that these wee babies can be socialized? Mama said she knows how Gamma refuses to do anything that is hard work, so if will be difficult to socialize them, Gamma won't do it but will probably find an excuse. Mama CANNOT go down there because she does NOT have the money to rent a car and of course nobody in her family (aside from Mama) cares about cats enough to help. Mama only has one close furriend and they won't help either. We are not trying to shirk our responsibility, but we can only do so much from our end....Gamma MUST do something, and you'd think she'd want to, but she only wants to do the things not requiring effort. We know she's old, but she is able to drive a full size truck, do housework, etc. so we feel she could do more than she is doing. Oh well, like the poem says, nobody cares. We know you Catster folks care, but the people outside of Catster that we know don't. I, Daniel, say some humans are so uncaring. And mama agrees!
Leave A Comment | 4 people already have Can you call a local vet or rescue organization? They can bring food and help..
Henry Hi Henry,
We called the only rescue around and they represent 2 counties...they are too busy to help (they said so) and they have their hands full. :( The only vet in Gamma's area won't help either. They used to help find homes fur stray kittens & such, and offered services but not any more, maybe cuz there are just too many. It's so frustrating. Dang, I wish we were closer!!! Me too!
Mommy used to feed ferrals across da street when she had her house, long afore I came along.
All we can do now, is pray & keep purring that Susie & hur kits, gettin bigga kits, are eating & safe from danger!
Thank yew Mom for sharin all wiff us furiends!
Bless you, & Gamma tew!
Lubbs & purrs,
