I've been spending loads of time playing in Meowmy's craft room. Lately, there has been a whirl of activity in there. Meowmy plays with lots of stuff like beads and string, clay and paint. She says she's making jewelry and other stuff called "decorative items" whatever those are. All I know is that I am having a blast! I chase beads and string. I jump on all the work tables and knock stuff onto the floor then bat it all around the room. I think Meowmy is very entertained because she says "Autumn Amelia!" so often. I think that means she thinks I'm being really cute and funny. I like entertaining Meowmy.
Sometimes Smokey comes in and acts all serious. She gets up on the work table, but instead of chasing stuff around and throwing it on the floor, she just looks over everything that Meowmy is doing and tells her how to improve it. She's so bossy!
Anyway, if you want to see the stuff we've been making together just go to www.handmadebyeileen.com
P.S. Don't tell Meowmy, but when she's not home, I go into the craft room and work on my own projects. I don't want her to know what I'm making. It's a secret!

That's what Meowmy told me. Oh, the things she doesn't know! In fact, I didn't think this was naughty at all. I just thought the dish towel cabinet would make a nice, quiet place to take a nap. It was over crowded, so naturally I took out most of the towels, but I did leave a nice, soft layer to sleep on. Then, when it was all to my liking, I jumped in and stretched out. It was heaven! Too bad it didn't last long. Meowmy came into the hallway, saw all the towels on the floor and me in the cabinet. The next thing I knew I was hearing, "Autumn Amelia Marie! This is the naughtiest thing you've ever done!" Then she went and got her camera to take a picture of me. (See my second pic)
I would like to point out that this most certainly is not the naughtiest thing I've ever done. I've done much, much naughtier things than this and I'm quite proud of them. What about the time I took the humidifier apart and ate the filter? What about the time I jumped in the freezer and tried to steal the cupcakes? What about the time the man came to fix the furnace and I got right inside his toolbox (I was actually just trying to help)? What about running through the house with her nylons in my mouth? Not to mention sleeping on the tables and counters where I'm not supposed to be? Why should all these accomplishments be forgotten? Plus there are so many other things that Meowmy doesn't even know about. Heeheehee!
If she thinks this is the naughtiest thing I've ever done, then I'm not doing my job and I'd better start thinking up some really naughty things to do. I do have a reputation to think of, after all.

I was in an extra curious mood this morning so I decided to investigate the bath tub and I made an incredible discovery! The bath tub has a big metal mouth. Meowmy says it called a faucet. All I knew before my investigation was that when Meowmy turns a certain knob a whole lot of water comes out of it.
I was feeling a little thirsty so I thought I'd see if it would give me a drink. I put my mouth right up to it, but nothing happened. It was kind of early in the morning and I thought maybe the faucet was still asleep so I decided to wake him up. That's when I found out the secret.
I meowed right into the faucet. Now you must understand that I have a very, very soft meow. I'm not like my sisfur, Smokey. She meows REALLY LOUD! Meowmy says I don't meow, I just squeak.
Well, when I meowed into the faucet, it made my voice several times louder than it really is, just like a microphone. That's why I call it a meowophone. It was amazing! My meow was strong and loud! I can't wait to do it again. I might just spend all day meowing into my meowophone to let everyone in the house hear everything I have to say. It could take a long time, you know.

Meowmy took me to the groomer yesterday to get my lion cut for the summer. I love my lion cut after it's all done, but I hate getting it. First I get stuffed into my carrier and have to ride in the car. I cried the whole way to the groomer's. Meowmy is so cold-hearted, even my most plaintive meows didn't make her turn the car around and go home.
When we got there, we had to wait a few minutes while the groomers finished working on two dogs. *sigh* I don't know, but I think even the best groomer in the world couldn't make a dog look good.
While I was waiting, that American Bob Tail, Romeo, who lives at the groomer's came up to my carrier to visit me. I've written about him in my diary before. He's the one who has such a crush on me. Well, this time when he started trying to flirt with me, I just told him, "Never you mind! I'm Tommy's girl!" He must be afraid of my super-handsome, super-strong Tommy because he just slinked away.
When the groomers finally finished with the dogs (gave up, probably) Meowmy handed me to one of them and said, "I'm going to run some errands. I'll be back in a little while to pick her up."
WHAT???? YOU MEAN YOU ARE NOT STAYING? I'M HERE ALONE WITH THE GROOMERS? AND...D-O-G-S?
Well, I'll have you know, I retained my composure and dignity. It wasn't easy. The mean groomers put a hood over my beautiful face. Then they started shaving off my gorgeous fur. I remembered it from last summer and I knew this was not going to be pleasant. I did let them know exactly what I thought of their grooming capabilities. Hmmph!
Finally, they were finished and I was the beautiful lion you see in the pictures at the top of my page. I should have been placed on a pedestal for all in the shop to see and admire, but instead the senseless groomers stuck me back in my carrier. How humiliating! As if that wasn't bad enough, when Meowmy came to pick me up, I heard one of the groomers say to her, "She was a little fresh!" Excuse me? Fresh? Well, I never!
I must say that I felt much, much cooler on the ride home. I could actually feel the breeze! Such freedom!
Of course, when I got home I had to deal with Smokey's jealousy. She pretended she didn't even know who I was and kept hissing at me. Even as of this morning she was still treating me like an invader and calling me names. *sigh* We went through this last year when I got a lion cut. Eventually, she got used to it so I suppose she will this year, too. I hope she hurries up, though. She should simply acknowledge my tremendous beauty and move on with her life.
I love being a lion. I hope Tommy likes my summer look!

Last night was kind of scary. The air got really still and it turned dark outside way too early. I knew a storm was coming. I could feel it in my whiskers. I wasn't sure what to do. Smokey went under Grandma's bed. When Smokey hides you know things aren't good. I decided to go to the basement. I hid down there for a long time even though nothing was really happening.
After a while I heard the door to the house open and I could hear Meowmy's voice. Either my stomach clock was off or she was home a bit early. I could hear Meowmy and Grandma talking upstairs. Grandma had the TV on and the man on the TV kept talking about a storm. My whiskers were right!
I heard Meowmy ask Grandma, "Where are the cats?" Grandma said, "I don't know. I think they're hiding." Well, Meowmy decided to feed us right away before the storm hit. It was already starting to rain and she wanted us to have our supper in case we had to go to the basement for a while.
I heard our dishes being washed. I heard the silverware drawer open and Meowmy take out the spoon. I heard the pop tops on the cans open. I heard Smokey trot down the hallway towards the kitchen. I wanted to go eat, but I was afraid to come out of hiding. Then I heard Meowmy call, "Autumn, supper!" Then I heard Grandma say, "Wow! Autumn must really be scared if you actually have to call her for supper." Hmmph! I didn't know which insulted me more - being called scared or greedy! I decided to show that I was not scared and there is nothing wrong with eating supper when it is ready for you, so I went upstairs.
Smokey was already eating. I went to my dish and ate some dinner, but that storm feeling in my whiskers wouldn't go away. It was telling me to hurry up and get back downstairs. I didn't even finish my dinner. It's true, just ask Smokey. I went back downstairs and stayed there.
Smokey was kind of showing off. She stayed upstairs. She didn't want anyone to know she was afraid, but she stayed right at the top of the cellar stairs so she could run down in an instant. She didn't fool me!
It rained for a long time. I heard some thunder and even saw some flashes of lightening through the basement windows. After a while everything got quiet. I decided to venture back upstairs. The storm pretended to be over, but my whiskers were still whispering to me not to believe it. I took a bite or two more of my dinner (Smokey had obviously been eating from my dish!) and went back to the basement.
Everyone thought I was being silly. Then it started to rain again and loud crashes of thunder and terrible flashes of lightening were all around us. My whiskers were right again! This storm was much worse than the first one.
When it was finally over, my whiskers went back to feeling normal and I knew it was safe to go upstairs. The house was really, really hot from having all the windows closed so the rain wouldn't come in. I was glad when Grandma opened her window once it stopped raining. I climbed right into the window and spent the whole night there smelling the outdoors and letting the breeze ruffle my fur.
Smokey slept on the bed with Grandma. I think she was still scared.

Meowmy took me to the vet today. I didn't want to go. I wasn't sick. She said I was due for my rabies shot. I did get a shot, but that's not all. The vet said that I am too fat. How rude! She is changing my diet AGAIN! As if all that insulting of me wasn't bad enough, the mean vet person clipped my claws, which she knows I hate and then she shaved my butt which I hate even more.
Then came the worst part. She took some swabs and cleaned my butt. She said it was disgusting. She blamed that on my being fat, too. She said I have folds of skin that cover up the place where I pee and the pee gets trapped in there and dries. She said I was on the verge of having an infection. She cleaned it all out, but it took a while and it stung and it itched! I tried to rip the vet and vet tech's hands off, so they wrapped me up in a towel. How mean! I was so upset I made noises even I didn't know I could make and I hissed even more than Smokey, and Smokey is known as "Madam Hiss". And I chewed on that towel just the way I wish I'd been chewing on the mean vet.
Meowmy says the vet is not mean and that she was taking very good care of me. She was keeping me from getting an infection. Hmph! The vet said I'm so fat that I can't clean it for myself and I have to lose weight so that I'll be able to clean myself otherwise I will start getting infections. I don't know what infections are, but they don't sound good. She also said that if I lose weight but those folds of skin don't shrink, they will have to be surgically cut away. YEOW!
I'm not happy at all. My most favorite thing to do in the world is eat. I love food. I love my food. I love Smokey's food. I even eat stuff that isn't actually food. That drives Meowmy crazy. I can't help it. I just LOVE to eat.
Meowmy says I need to get a hobby to take my mind off of eating all the time. I wonder what kind of hobby I would like. I will have to give it some serious thought, because I don't want infections and I definately don't want surgery!

I'm sorry this posting is a day late.
I would like to thank Catster HQ and all the kitties who read my diary for making me one of yesterday's DDPs. It was certainly an honor. It was especially nice to share the honor with my cousin, Greyson. Best of all it got me extra treats. I LOVE treats. Treats are the best. Oh, I just thought of something. I wonder if I can get Meowmy to feed me treats in my pirate ship. That would be utter bliss! *falls into a swoon just thinking about it*

I love the Christmas tree. I have been sleeping underneath it even though it means I have to walk over all the presents and push some out of my way to make room, but I don't mind. Smokey says I'm not supposed to step on the presents. She's so particular.
What Smokey doesn't understand is that I have to get under the tree no matter what. That's how I have my Christmas dreams. Last year on Christmas morning I awoke to find that Santa Paws had brought me a pirate ship. I've never loved anything in my whole life as much as that pirate ship. It's the best ever! When I sleep under the tree I dream about last Christmas when I found my ship. It's like I get to relive it over and over again. I don't know what Santa will bring me this year, but whatever it is, nothing will ever be as great as my beloved pirate ship.
Must go now. The Christmas tree is lit and I'm off to dreamland. Sugar plum fairies sound yummy, but I'd rather have pirates dancing in my head.

Athena tagged me to play this game! I have to answer some questions:
1. Do you ever wake your parent(s) up in the night?
I don't think I have ever awakend Meowmy during the night. However, grandma keeps a cup of water on the table next to her bed. Sometimes I get thirsty at night and don't feel like going to the kitchen to get a drink from the water fountain, so I just drink out of grandma's cup. Unfortunately, it's not that easy to do and sometimes I knock it over and the water spills on the floor. That usually wakes Grandma up. She's never happy when that happens. After a few times, she decided to shut her door at night. Now I can't even go in her room at night. Don't you think she should have just put a water bowl in her room for me rather than shutting me out?!
2. Do you ever tear up things?
Well, sort of. I make lovely sculptures from rolls of paper towels. Some may call it tearing things up, but I call it art.
3. What is your favorite treat?
Treats? Treats? Did someone say "treats"? Where? I want some now!
4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?
Well, I'm sure I could, but why would I? I'm not a dog. I do not do the humans' bidding. They do mine, as it should be.
5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?
Why yes. When my kitty mommmy was pregnant with me and my furblings she was a stray. She wandered onto the property of a convent and the good nuns took her in. I was born in the convent and lived there until I was old enough to leave and come to my forever home where I know live with my sisfur Smokey, Meowmy and Grandma. Yesterday was my second birthday!
Now, I'm tagging:
Greyson

The big white cat from across the street has been hanging around our yard again. Lately, she's been coming right up onto our deck and staring at us through the glass in the screen door. It drives Smokey crazy! Smokey has tried very, very hard to make her go away. She hisses, she whips her tail back and forth, she growls, she does everything she can think of to be scary and make White Cat leave, but White Cat just sits and looks at us. She even yawned while Smokey was trying to scare her. ME-OW! Did that ever make Smokey mad!
Yesterday, while I was laying in front of the screen door White Cat showed up again. Smokey was sitting on a chair watching her and twitching her tail like crazy. White Cat was ignoring her, as usual.
So I got up. I stood up on my hind legs so White Cat could see how big I am. She took a couple of steps back. Then I scratched at the glass on the door as fast as my two little paws could go and White cat quickly left the porch! Meowmy and Grandma applauded and said "Yay for Autumn!" (Well, Grandma called me "babykins" which was rather insulting given the circumstances, but I let it go.)
Smokey was astonished. She could not believe what I had accomplished. She stared at me and she stared at Meowmy and Grandma. Smokey hasn't admitted it yet, but she must know I'm a hero. I think she should start showing me a little more respect.
My fearlessness will hold me in good stead for being a pirate. I can't wait to get back out on the high seas with my pirate ship. Look out world, here I come!
