I was working on our roof when I got a call from my wife one Saturday afternoon. She was at PetsMart and wanted me to come and see a cat. I went and met Jakey. It was love at first hug: he snuggled his head under my chin and started purring. The Humane Society lady working there said he was terrified of men. No man had been able to hold him at the Humane Society (where he was from). Needless to say, we had a new family member!
Bio:
It turns out Jake had been badly abused and locked in the basement by his previous human. For the first month or two he would not go any further than the top step. Finally, he took his first bold step. Almost 15 years later and he now loves visitors, sleeps next to me, sits on my lap on the recliner and walks amongst lots of HUGE dogs! You've come a long way, Baby!
