Hi my friends, I just wanted to fill you all in on what has been going on in our lives, its been a crazy ride. Tates momcat Sandi speaking: I think I told everyone about while when we were on vacation my husband had a kidney stone and we had to come home early so he could have surgery for that. He also had surgery on another one 2 weeks before we left for vacation. He is doing better now, thank god. Then last Sunday I had my whole family over at my house and we were having a birthday party for my sister Karen, who is an RN nurse, and all was going good till my dad stood up and acted weird then showed signs of him having a stroke. We called 911 and they came really quick and gave him anti stroke medicine and admitted him to the hospital, he was better the next day, no signs of paralysis or anything. They kept him in the hospital till they could regulate his medicines and put him on a blood thinner so he wont throw a clot again. Then the next day, Monday, I took my mom to go and visit my dad in the hospital, all seemed good. I brought my mom home at noontime and was to go back and pick her up at 5pm to go visit my dad in the hospital again. I went back at 3 pm cuz I just felt like something was wrong. My mom didnt answer her door, so I had a key and let myself in. She was laying on the floor unresponsive, I called 911 and they took her to the same hospital where my dad was. They said she had a stroke and there is issues with her heart, she has a weak heart rate. They had to do heart surgery on her that Thursday. She had the starting of dementia prior, just forgetful, but she was still independent and active. So this stroke made her dementia worse so she needs to be watched 24/7 plus her heart rate is still low and they worry about her falling or passing out again. So we had to put her in a nursing home for her to get full care. Its the sadest thing to do to a parent but we need help for her. My dad isnt handling any of this well and he himself is still pale and thin. We need to get him better so he can care for my mom if or when she comes home. So we spent the day together yesterday and my mom seemed to be ok, we left to take my dad out to supper and get him to relax and eat something. I drove my dad in my car and we took the back, country road way. I thought seeing some foliage and quiteness would relax him. It was all good till we saw a little old lady pulled to the side of the road and she was looking at somehting on the side of the road, she flagged us down for help. I went to see what happened and it was a lady laying on the side of the road, like at the edge of a driveway. I called 911 and spoke with the emt till the police arrived. It looked like she fell and hit her head and was unresponsive. As we were waiting for the ambulance and police the lady got up and was clapping her hands and then like pinching her fingers at the air. She was all bloody on her hands and the back of her head was open and you could see brains and blood on the ground. I told the emt that. Then a man stopped in a van to help and the lady went and tried to get into his van, so he got her out and then took off. 3 more guys stopped to help and then I saw them holding onto the little old lady that found her, she passed out. I told the emt that they might need 2 ambulances now. The cops came and I went out and filled them in on what I saw and they thanked me and took care of the lady with the head injury. I left and met my sisters at the restaurant, needless to say I wasnt hungry after what I just saw. My nurse sister said that I helped save her life by calling for help, I hope that lady is ok, I havent heard anything on the news. But one thing is that it didnt help my dad out at all seeing that. We have all been through so much and we are all just taking it day by day. Seeing your parents age and not being able to help them as much as you want is very hard. Also, while both my parents were in the hospital, I had been taking care of their dog Goya. I noticed he was having a hard time eating so I took him to the vets and found out that he needs to have 6 teeth removed:( So they gave him an antibiotic shot and he is at the vets right now having dentistry work done. Ive been having to feed him baby food till they can get his teeth back to feeling better. So, we have been a tad busy but I wanted all my fur friends to know why I havent been around much. Hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. Hopefully better days are coming for us. Hugs and kisses to you all, I cherish all your friendships. Love, Sandi and Tate

we are glad you had the sence to call for help allot of people would have just panicked and would have made the situations worst. As for the deminia I totally know what you are going through I take care of a lady that has it . she is in hospital right now with heart failure. but to get things into the daughters head that Mom might not come home ever again and she has to have constant care is another thing she is in total denial. I love them to bits but there is only so much I can do as I am not a trained porfessional. Your Parents are going to forgive you once they se they are in good hands. Dad is just sad that the provider of the family group can no longer do what he has done so naturally for years . it is time to step down and hand ther reigns over to the younger ones. God Love him , your Mom , you and your sibs. in this hard descion time. Hugs from Momcat DEb and Mikey
Oh my. You don't have a full plate, you have a full platter! My mom sympathizes with your mom, Tate. Her mom has mini-strokes and dementia and mom and her brothers are trying to get her to move to assisted living, but she's being very stubborn. Purring for you and your family.

OMC, you have had so much to deal with! We're sending lots of purrs for support!
wow - that is an incredible amount of horrible things to happen individually, but one right after the other is terrible! Glad you popped in to say hi, but please take care of YOU. That is alot of stress (believe me, I understand an ill parent) But one thing I learned is that if you are not taking care of yourself, you can not help anyone. We send purrs & hugs..take things one day at a time, and Tate - your job is to help keep mommy relaxed & happy, so rev up your purrs.
WE are so sorry to hear all that you are having to go through, we have been away Mom needs a break because she too has to help with her Mom who has lewy body dementia, she has gone down hill very fast and we are now waiting for her to get into a nursing home, she is on a list....so we know how hard this is and it makes you realize just how short life is...it is hard on Mom because she was close to her Mom, now her Mom doesn't even know who she is...
We pray that your Dad will feel better and will soon be able to help your Mom...

Update on my parents:) As of Friday night, my mom is home from the nursing home and so far doing well. My dad is still recovering from his stroke as well but he is doing good also. They are both healing better at home and being together. We are just going to take it day by day and pray that they get stronger and back to being their normal, active selves again. They have visiting nurses checking in on them during the day and myself and my sister who is a nurse checks in on them as well. Their dog Goya is doing great too, now that he had his dentistry and the antibiotic medicine, he is feeling great and eating again. So everyone is getting better! Paws crossed! Thank you again for all your care and support. Love, Tate and Momcat Sandi
So glad everything is getting better Tate! We know all too well how it feels to have everything go wrong all at once. It's exhausting and discouraging. Purrs and many hugs to you and your family buddy! We love you lots!
Thanks for the update Tate and MC Sandi : )
About time things get goin' smoothly. Will continue to keep you and your family, and Goya, in our prayers.

I'm so sorry I missed all this news and did not give you any words of kindness. I have been jumping on and of the Catster train a lot and miss a bunch of stuff.I will be so happy when all this election stuff is over. One day more thank goodness. Then I can put my feet up and relax. No more phone calls to make and answer. I sure hope there is a lot better news to be written now and that things are going better for your Human.
