Arrival Story:
We have always had cats, and my mother was a fan of Calicos in particular. For quite awhile she was looking for another Calico to adopt and never found one. Shortly after my mom passed away a year and 1/2 years ago, my father and I went to Petsmart to buy some things for our other animals. And that night, the rescue organization (Start II) who adopts out through Petsmart was there. We were looking at the cats & kittens- just to talk to them, no intentions on adoption... until I saw snuggled up in a cage, a precious little Calico kitten with the solid patches of color that my mom preferred.
And then the little calico lifted her head towards me.... she had no eyes. She was born this way and Start II actually rescued her from another pound where she was about to be euthanized due to her 'disability'.
After filling out some forms- Xenia was ours! She is named Xenia because that was my mom's middle name, and Xenia is a little angel sent from her to comfort us :-)
Bio:
Xenia may be blind, but she gets around just as good as any other cat! We adopted her almost a year and 1/2 ago as a baby, and she has never once missed the litterbox. She finds her food and water fine. And she is always playing with toys. She even gets excited and runs to me when she hears me opening the window because she loves to lay in the window and move her head back and forth following the sounds she hears! Her best friend is another calico (tortoiseshell) kitten named Saria that we adopted later from the same rescue :-)
