Arrival Story:
I inherited Giz by default... love my husband, love his cat! I really never used to be fond of cats, but this fuzz-butt changed my mind. He's sweet when he wants to be, but he's the toughest cat in the neighborhood. He also loves to leave us little presents: birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, bunnies, mice, moles, etc. If we get rid of the "gift" before we praise him, he turns his back to us and sits, facing away, until we tell him what a good hunter he is. Update: Giz is getting grey in the muzzle, but he's still a sweet boy. He's slowing down some, and sleeping a bit more, but boy, does he still have an apetitite! We hope to have him a good while longer!

My husband got Gizmo when he was just a kitten. He had a friend on his bowling team who owned the mother, Shaneyney. Gizmo was the loudest kitten in the litter. He's still loud, especially when it's time for his dinner!

Gizmo crossed over the Rainbow Bridge early this afternoon, just short of his 16th birthday. He will be greatly missed.

I am so blessed to still have Gizmo in my life. Yes, he is slowing down, and has lost a lot of weight - but he's still as sweet as every. Yes, he has arthritis, and he is hyperthyroid, but my Vet is the best! She is trained in traditional vet. medicine, but also in Eastern vet. med. So by simply making a couple dietary changes for Gizmo, and adding some fish oil and B vitamins to his diet - plus herbs for hyperthyroid - he has been doing so well. It's amazing for an almost 16 yr old cat - he can still jump, and his meow is the loudest every. Ok, yeah, he's losing his hearing a bit, but I think it's selective hearing loss. Funny how when we open a can of "anything" with the can opener, he comes running! But you could call his name until you were blue in the face and he won't budge! I guess at his age, he's entitled to be excentric! :)
